Raiders sign grand nephew of legendary franchise player

Shedrick Jackson followed the footsteps of his great uncle Bo Jackson to Auburn and now he does the same by joining the Raiders.

Once a Raider, always a Raider really means something. So much so that it often extends to family of Raiders greats. Today, you can add another name to that list — Shedrick Jackson. Who the team added to the practice squad Wednesday.

Jackson is not just a former Auburn star receiver who played five games with the Bengals last season, he is the grand nephew of arguably the most legendary Raiders player of all time — Bo Jackson.

Jackson’s career in a Raiders uniform lasted just four seasons, but in that time he was one of the most famous and electric athletes in the world, spawning the Nike “Bo Knows” ad campaign for his two-sport prowess. And, of course, being absolutely unstoppable in Tecmo Bowl.

Shedrick followed Bo’s footsteps to Auburn, where he caught 66 passes for 864 yards and a touchdown. Now he follows in his footsteps to the Silver & Black.

He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent and appeared in five games as a rookie, mostly on special teams. He was brought back this season but was released in mid-September.

Welcome to the Silver & Black, Shedrick.

Bo knows Ohio State (4-star running back Bo Jackson is a Buckeye)

Bo Jackson commits to Ohio State.

Bo knows his decision. And for four-star running back Bo Jackson, that decision is Ohio State.

Jackson, the fifth-best running back in the nation in the 247Sports Composite, committed to Ohio State this week. The 6-foot, 205-pound running back from Villa Angela-Saint Joseph (Cleveland, OH) is the No. 81 recruit in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite.

With the rarest combination of strength, balance and speed, Jackson fits perfectly into the Ohio State running backs room. This is a strong pick-up for Ohio State, and keeps another top player in-state (Jackson is the fifth-ranked recruit from Ohio in this class)

He held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee among others.

Jackson made the announcement via his social media platforms:

With the commitment of Jackson, Ohio State’s recruiting class remains at second-best in the country.

He is now the fifth player from Ohio to join the 2025 recruiting class for the Buckeyes. As of now, he is the only running back committed in this class.

In addition to being a standout running back, he also played varsity baseball for Villa Angela-Saint Joseph. Not unlike the Bo Jackson who played baseball and football at Auburn and went on to have a career in both the NFL and MLB.

Wisconsin football class of 2025 RB target Bo Jackson commits to Big Ten rival

Wisconsin football class of 2025 RB target Bo Jackson commits to Big Ten rival

Wisconsin football class of 2025 running back target Bo Jackson announced his commitment to Ohio State on Tuesday.

Jackson became the fifth Wisconsin class of 2025 target to commit elsewhere this week, joining three-star WR Vernon Allen III, three-star iOL N’Kye Wynn, three-star LB Elliot Schaper and three-star Javin Gordon. Allen and Wynn chose Rutgers while Schaper and Gordon committed to Duke.

The Villa Angela-St. Joseph product chose Ohio State over Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Penn State, among others. Jackson garnered over 20 offers dating back to May 2022, and Wisconsin extended its offer in early February 2023.

Unlike the four aforementioned prospects, Jackson is firmly entrenched within a select group of nation’s highest-rated recruits of the 2025 cycle. 247Sports has the 6-foot, 205-pounder as the No. 85 national recruit, No. 3 running back and No. 5 recruit from his home state of Ohio.

247Sports’ national recruiting analyst Hudson Standish profiles Jackson as one of the 2025’s most talented offensive skill players in the Midwest who can dominate both between or outside the tackles in modern offensive schemes.

Luke Fickell’s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 17 in the nation with 13 players committed. With Jackson’s choice, Wisconsin has yet to secure a commitment from a running back.

Wisconsin also secured commitments from top class of 2025 cornerback Rukeem Stroud and four-star OT Logan Powell over the weekend. Both Stroud and Powell made their decisions during official visits to Madison beginning May 31.

Even though Jackson’s commitment would have been a monumental one, UW will welcome several high-profile 2025 recruits beginning this Friday and aim to secure multiple commitments during the summer’s second official visit weekend.

Watch: Ohio State football recruits show off post-visit video graphics

Can I get one too? #GoBucks

Ohio State football hosted ten recruits on official visits this past weekend, and on Tuesday the Buckeyes sent out video graphics to keep the program on their minds.

It was a prosperous weekend, even without the Ohio State social media team doing its work, but this was the cherry on top. It was a great idea to help  continue the prospects keeping the Buckeyes on their minds, with each one of them personalized.

One of those recruits on campus was in-state 2025 running back [autotag]Bo Jackson[/autotag], who went to X, the website formerly known as Twitter, to share the short video on social media.

We hope what is next for Jackson and his fellow official visitors is that they end up committing to Ohio State. These graphics surely will help the cause.

BOOM! Ohio State football lands top 2025 in-state running back

BOOOOOOOOM!!!!

Although Ohio State football didn’t land any commitment from its official visitors this past weekend, it didn’t take long for one of those dominoes to fall.

On Tuesday afternoon, 2025 in-state running back, [autotag]Bo Jackson[/autotag], verbally committed to the Buckeyes, giving them one of the top players at the position in the country. The 6-foot, 205-pound ball carrier was also highly considering Alabama and Georgia.

Jackson is ranked as the nation’s No. 81 overall prospect and 5th rated running back according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The commitment fills a need in the class, and also keeps one of the best players in the state from leaving.

Jackson becomes commitment No. 13 for the Buckeyes, who could potentially add another running back to the class.

Ohio State gets crystal ball prediction to add in-state running back

We like where this is headed. #GoBucks

June is the biggest recruiting month of the year. Talented high school players from all over the country will be making official visits to college campuses as the next step in choosing a school. Ohio State kicked off the weekend in a big way welcoming a plethora of four and five-star recruits.

One name in particular to keep an eye on is in-state running back Bo Jackson. Jackson who hails from Cleveland, Ohio has been a top priority for the Buckeyes for quite some time now. He is a top 100 player and is rated as the No. 5 overall running back according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Ohio State got some good news in regards to Jackson after he took his official visit this past weekend. Steve Wiltfong of On3 has joined Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts with a crystal ball prediction for Jackson to land in Columbus.

According to recruiting analyst, Hudson Standish, Jackson is the real deal.

One of the best offensive skill players in the Midwest at this stage of the evaluation process with the ability to succeed running between the tackles or outside in a modern offensive scheme. Owns a physically imposing college-ready frame verified around 6-foot, 205 pounds. Ability to stack cuts together to find green grass in the open field is extremely impressive considering his size. Routinely showcases impressive contact balance and consistently runs through arm tackles. Elite short area quickness and agility show up plenty on tape while evading defenders at the second level and has been verified in a combine setting. One of the more productive junior seasons of any offensive skill player in the Midwest, finishing his 2023 campaign with nearly 30 total touchdowns and 1,700 rushing yards on over 10 yards a carry. Should be viewed as the type of ball carrier who can immediately carve out a role in a two or three-man rotation and produce with his mix of size and encouraging athleticism.

If this young man lives up to even half of his namesake, the Buckeyes are in for a treat should he commit to Ohio State.

Ohio State football makes top three for elite in-state 2025 running back Bo Jackson

Hopefully Bo knows where home is, Columbus

The state of Ohio annually has multiple elite prospects and Ohio State football typically takes advantage of its proximity to those players.

It is happening once again with in-state running back [autotag]Bo Jackson[/autotag], who trimmed his list to three schools on Thursday. Alabama, Georgia and the Buckeyes are the finalists for the nations No. 72 overall prospect and 5th player at his position according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Buckeyes will get one of Jackson’s official visits, as he will take a visit to Columbus between trips to Georgia and Alabama. It does look like Ohio State had an edge in his recruitment, as the only 247Sports Crystal Ball pick is for the Buckeyes.

This could be the first big recruiting victory for new Ohio State running back’s coach Carlos Locklyn, as Jackson is a big-time prospect.

Buckeyes set recruiting visit with four-star running back

Buckeyes set recruiting visit with four-star running back #GoBucks

The recruiting news has been fast and furious for Ohio State football fans, but the excitement just won’t stop. The most recent recruiting buzz is surrounding four-star and homegrown talent, Bo Jackson. The class of 2025, four-star running back from Cleveland has announced the Ohio State has made the cut of his three official visits along with the obvious SEC powerhouses, Alabama and Georgia.

Jackson will be visiting Columbus from May 31st until June 2nd, which is right in between the two SEC rivals as he visits the Bulldog campus from May 17 until May 19th and the Crimson Tide campus from June 7th until June 9th.

The high profile recruit has spurned offers from other Big Ten blue chips such as Michigan, Oregon and Penn State with Ohio State being the last Big Ten school standing. Now it shouldn’t be shocking to see Michigan not make the final three with Tony Alford now running the show in the running back room up North, but still interesting to note.
