Former Ohio State wide receiver, Binjimen Victor, is attempting to make a splash in the newly formed United Football League and his impact was felt in a big way as his Birmingham Stallions squad squeaked out a close one against the Houston Roughnecks to the tune of 35-28.

This Birmingham team is currently undefeated, sitting at 8-0, and Victor is in a receiver room that features other former collegiate stars like Deon Cain from Clemson, Jace Sternberger from Texas A&M, and Marlon Williams from UCF.

This weekend Victor made a splash. He only had one catch, but that one reception went 12 yards to the house. His first quarter touchdown played a pivotal role in allowing the Stallions to keep their close lead.

Most Buckeye fans will remember Victor during his collegiate tenure from 2016 through 2019. He was fairly productive in Columbus as evidenced by finishing his career tied for tenth in school history with 18 career touchdowns.

Ravens announce inactives for the Wild Card matchup vs. Bengals

The Ravens announce their inactive players for the Wild Card matchup against the Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens are facing the Cincinnati Bengals in back-to-back weeks. Baltimore lost 27-16 in Week 18 to Cincinnati, but this there is much more at stake, as the playoffs have arrived and the two teams will face off on Wild Card Weekend.

Shortly before kickoff, the Ravens announced their inactive players for this Wild Card matchup. Quarterback Lamar Jackson, who hasn’t practiced in over a month, is on the list, as well as running back Kenyan Drake,  defensive back Brandon Stephens, cornerback Pepe Williams, wide receiver Binjimen Victor, center Tryston Colon, and tight end Charlie Kolar.  Stephens is still dealing with an illness that kept him from Week 18.

Williams and tight end Kolar become inactive with the returns of Marcus Peters and Mark Andrews. Peters is returning from injury after being out since getting injured in Cleveland against the Browns in Week 14, and Andrews was inactive in Week 18 to rest up for the playoffs.  The Ravens need to have big games from both if they want to come out of Cincinnati with a win.

Ravens make four roster moves ahead of Wild Card matchup vs. Bengals

The Ravens made four roster moves in preparation for Sunday’s Wild Card matchup in Cincinnati with the Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens are taking on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night in an AFC Wild Card showdown.  The Ravens and Bengals split the season series by winning one game each, with both teams coming out victorious at home.  Since the 2021 season, this matchup has been intense, starting to have the feel of a rivalry or sorts.

In preparation for the game, the Ravens made a four roster moves in signing defensive back Ar’Darius Washington from the practice squad to the active roster while moving wide receiver Tylan Wallace to injured reserve. They also elevated wide receivers Andy Isabella and Binjimen Victor from the practice squad.

The Ravens will need all the healthy bodies they can get to contain the high powered Bengals offense. The team needs depth at the receiver position and for special teams, and with Wallace being a big part of that unit, the team could use Isabella and Victor in his place.

5 takeaways from Ravens’ Week 1 preseason win vs. Titans

We look at five takeaways from the Ravens’ Week 1 preseason win over the Tennessee Titans

The Baltimore Ravens picked up a 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the 2022 preseason. It extended their preseason winning streak to 21-straight games, which means the team is continuing to build on their NFL record.

There were plenty of things to take away from the game on all three sides of the ball. Baltimore didn’t play many of their projected starters, which meant young players had the opportunity to step up in a big way. They delivered, with many making a case for a roster spot as well as more playing time.

Below we look at five takeaways from the Ravens’ Week 1 preseason win over Tennessee.

Ravens sign eight players to Reserve/Future deals

The Ravens signed eight players to Reserve/Future deals

The Baltimore Ravens have begun their 2022 offseason after finishing 2021 8-9 and missing the postseason for the first time since 2017. Their 16-13 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers was a disappointing end to a very trying year, but now Baltimore has the opportunity to get better and come back stronger next season.

On Monday, the Ravens announced that they had signed eight players to Reserve/Future deals in wide receivers Binjimen Victor and Jaylon Moore, tight end Tony Poljan, center James Murray, tackle Jaryd Jones-Smith, guard/defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie, and defensive backs Robert Jackson and Kevin Toliver.

Reserve/Future deals don’t count against the salary cap until the new league year begins. Some of the players signed played in key moments for Baltimore in 2021, including Jackson, who was called upon multiple times due to the fact that the Ravens’ secondary was so decimated.

Players signed to Reserve/Future deals last offseason included quarterback Tyler Huntley and cornerback Chris Westry.

Ravens add two more players to Reserve/COVID-19 list, activate one

The Ravens added two more players to the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday

The Baltimore Ravens have shuffled around their roster quite a bit during the 2021 season, as they’ve dealt with countless injuries, COVID-19 and more. They’ve still managed to work their way to an 8-6 record, although they have lost three straight amidst a brutal number of losses on both sides of the ball.

On Tuesday, Baltimore announced that they placed outside linebacker Pernell McPhee and practice squad cornerback Kevin Toliver on the Reserve/COVID-19 list while activating practice squad wide receiver Binjimen Victor from the list.

With McPhee and Justin Houston being added to the list in the last few days, the Ravens currently only have three outside linebackers on their roster in Tyus Bowser, Odafe Oweh and Tyus Bowser. If McPhee and Houston are able to play on Sunday it will leave Baltimore without two important players on their front seven.

Ravens add player to Reserve/COVID-19 list for second-straight day

The Ravens added a player to the Reserve/COVID-19 list for the second-straight day

The Baltimore Ravens are no strangers to having COVID-19 pass through their locker room. They had to play a game during the 2020 season with nearly 20 players out due to COVID protocols, and almost defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers despite that fact.

Baltimore hasn’t had nearly as much run in with COVID in 2021, but it has taken the NFL by storm over the past few days, and the Ravens are one of the teams impacted by it. On Tuesday, the team placed backup center Trystan Colon on the Reserve/COVID list, just one day after adding practice squad wide receiver Binjimen Victor to it.

Jamison Hensley of ESPN reported earlier in the day that Colon had tested positive for the virus.

Colon has appeared in nine games for the Ravens in 2021, and has developed into a quality backup center.

Ravens officially announce 13 practice squad signings

The Ravens officially announced 13 practice squad signings

The Baltimore Ravens have always been able to find talent to keep on their practice squad. Whether those players are young guys or veterans, they do a good job of keeping balanced depth who can step up if called up to the active roster when needed, whether that’s on game day or permanently.

On Wednesday afternoon Baltimore officially announced 13 practice squad signings, which included many familiar faces such as quarterback Trace McSorley, defensive tackle Justin Ellis, defensive back Anthony Levine Sr., and defensive back Jordan Richards. They were also able to retain multiple young talents including wide receiver Binjimen Victor and offensive tackle Adrian Ealy.

With the Ravens announcing only 13 practice squad players so far, there are still three more spots available to be taken. Baltimore does not have a running back on their practice squad yet, and with the injury to J.K. Dobbins, it feels like an addition there could be imminent. Rookie FB/TE Ben Mason also didn’t appear on the initial list, and it feels like he could be an option to return to the team as well.

Tempers flare during first day of Ravens’ joint practices with Panthers

Tempers flare during first day of Ravens’ joint practices with Panthers

The Baltimore Ravens kicked off their joint practices with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday. Both teams got good work in going up against each other, but there was a mini-scuffle that broke out after Ravens’ wide receiver Binjimen Victor got upended by Panthers defensive back Keith Taylor.

Multiple Baltimore players took exception to Taylor’s actions, and a mini-scrum ensued. While everything was going on, Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters and safety Anthony Levine Sr. joined the fray from the field where the Baltimore defense was working, which resulted in Peters and Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn exchanging words.

For the most part, fighting during joint practices isn’t a surprising development. Going up against another team always raises the intensity levels, so sometimes something can spark a dust-up. The Ravens have one more day of joint work with the Panthers before facing them on Saturday in their second preseason game of 2021.

Ravens sign former Ohio State WR Binjimen Victor to futures contract

The Baltimore Ravens have begun their offseason planning, inking former Ohio State WR Binjimen Victor to a futures contract

The regular season has wrapped up and the Baltimore Ravens are still playing football. But just because the playoffs are underway doesn’t mean all offseason activity has ceased in the offices of the Under Armour Performance Center. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta is still putting in work, preparing for a 2021 season before even wrapping up the one they’re currently in.

According to the SportsTrust Advisors agency, former Ohio State wide receiver Binjimen Victor signed a futures contract with Baltimore on Friday.

Victor went unselected in the 2020 NFL draft before signing to the New York Giants’ practice squad. While Victor didn’t see any snaps this season, DeCosta and the Ravens’ front office must have liked what they’ve seen from his tape at Ohio State enough to bring him on board.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 199 pounds, Victor fits a familiar theme among Baltimore’s wide receivers. He’s got a big frame and can make defenders miss when he has the ball in his hands, though his 4.6-second 40-yard-dash time at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine left a bit to be desired and likely facilitated him going undrafted. In 12 games during his final year at Ohio State, Victor caught 35 passes for 573 yards and six touchdowns. Throughout his college career, Victor didn’t get a ton of playing time but made the most of it, finding the end zone 18 times over 33 games.

With four wide receivers set to be unrestricted free agents this offseason, Baltimore is wise to get a jump on filling the void. While Willie Snead and Dez Bryant are the only receivers in that group to catch a pass this season, it’s important for the team to keep adding developmental depth. Granted, the team hasn’t been particularly adept at scouting and developing wide receivers throughout their history, but you never know when a diamond in the rough will emerge.
