Updated list of Jaguars set to become 2024 free agents

The Jaguars have re-signed a handful of their impending free agents, but there are still several players set to hit the open market.

In addition to the six new Jacksonville Jaguars set to be added to the roster, the team has been working to bring back a few of their own free agents.

Ezra Cleveland, Jeremiah Ledbetter, and Daniel Thomas all signed new contracts with the Jaguars and both Blake Hance and D’Ernest Johnson will reportedly soon follow. Jacksonville also used the franchise tag to keep Josh Allen from hitting the market.

While the Jaguars hope they can add Calvin Ridley to that list, for now he and several of his 2023 teammates are set to hit the market when free agency officially begins Wednesday. Here’s every Jaguars player with an expiring contract who is still set to become a free agent:

With the Ravens’ Devin Duvernay set to join the Jaguars’ roster, Agnew’s time with the franchise is clearly over. He even said his goodbyes on social media Tuesday. In three seasons with the team, he earned a trip to the Pro Bowl, scored two return touchdowns, caught five touchdown passes, and recorded a rushing touchdown.

It was a quick hi and bye for Barkley, who signed with the Jaguars a day after Christmas in 2023 amid a string of injuries for Trevor Lawrence. He was active for Jacksonville’s Week 17 game against the Carolina Panthers and took six snaps in garbage time.

Blackson signed with the Jaguars just before the start of the 2023 season and had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Despite being on the field for just 30 percent of the Jaguars’ defensive snaps, he managed to fall on three fumbles.

The Jaguars seemed to remain optimistic about the 2020 first-round pick all the way to the bitter end. But after four seasons, Chaisson has just five career sacks.

Claybrooks missed the entire 2023 season due to a domestic battery court case that’s still ongoing. While there was some confusion about whether his contract would toll over due to the lost year, Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union reports that Claybrooks will be an unrestricted free agent as of Wednesday.

After signing a three-year contract with the Jaguars as an undrafted rookie in 2018, Herndon re-signed with the team on one-year deals in 2021, 2022, and 2023. For the fourth straight offseason, he entered this March as an impending free agent. In six seasons with Jacksonville, Herndon has appeared in 83 career games and has three interceptions, nine tackles for loss, and 32 passes defended.

The Jaguars reportedly decided not to tender Johnson, who was set to be a restricted free agent this offseason. That’ll allow the special teams ace to hit the market after spending two seasons in Jacksonville.

McManus spent one season with the Jaguars and is reportedly headed elsewhere. The veteran kicker agreed to a one-year deal with the Commanders on Monday night.

Moore joined the Jaguars in 2022 and spent the entire year on the practice squad, then he spent all of 2023 on the team’s injured reserve. As an exclusive rights free agent, it’d cost next to nothing for Jacksonville to keep him, but there’s been no indication yet that they’ve extended a qualifying offer.

Quarterman, a fourth-round pick in 2020, played out the final year of his rookie contract in 2023. In four seasons with the Jaguars, he 54 career tackles, one tackle for loss, and one very consequential forced fumble.

Ridley is easily the biggest name on this list and the top receiver on the free agent market. In his first season with the Jaguars following a 2022 trade from the Falcons, Ridley recorded 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns. Jacksonville is reportedly working to bring back the receiver and he “currently prefers to return” to the Jaguars, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

No player in Jaguars history has played more consecutive games with the team than Shatley. After signing with the team as a free agent in 2014, he signed new contracts with the Jaguars in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Shatley started six games for the Jaguars in 2023.

The Jaguars picked up Van Lanen in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2022, but he’s appeared in just 71 snaps over two years with the team. As a restricted free agent, the Jaguars could tender the lineman, but there hasn’t been an indication that they’ve decided to do so.

Jaylon Moore fills in admirably for LT Trent Williams

Trent Williams was out for the #49ers, but Jaylon Moore stepped up nicely.

There was a potential disaster brewing for the 49ers when they rolled out Jaylon Moore to start at left tackle in place of the injured Trent Williams on Monday night in Minnesota. Not only did Moore avoid disaster in his fourth-career start at left tackle, he was perhaps San Francisco’s best offensive lineman.

Moore received a strong 73.1 run blocking grade from Pro Football Focus and allowed only one pressure and one hurry in 33 pass blocking snaps against a Vikings defense that blitzed on 21 of quarterback Brock Purdy’s 33 dropbacks.

The 49ers didn’t run behind Moore much, but running back Christian McCaffrey carried twice to his side for six yards and one touchdown.

Even during the game it was evident that Moore wasn’t a problem on the 49ers’ offensive line. His performance makes it worth wondering if he’s one of San Francisco’s five best offensive linemen, especially since right tackle Colton McKivitz allowed a team-high six pressures, five hurries and one sack while also struggling as a run blocker.

It’s unclear what Williams’ timeline for a return is. He injured his ankle in Week 6 and was ruled out for Monday night’s game. If he’s able to come back in Week 8 it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the 49ers try fitting Moore into their offensive line given how well he acquitted himself Monday night.

49ers injury updates: RB Elijah Mitchell day-to-day with adductor strain

Here’s a look at the latest injury updates for the 49ers at training camp, including Elijah Mitchell’s adductor injury.

As training camp progresses, the bumps and bruises continue to grow in Santa Clara. On Thursday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided an injury update for four players, including a key member of the backfield.

Here’s a look at the latest round of updates regarding injuries for the 49ers at training camp.

49ers injuries: OL Jaylon Moore leaves Day 6 of training camp early

The #49ers OL depth may get tested early in camp.

The 49ers on Tuesday had their first real injury scare of training camp when veteran offensive lineman Jaylon Moore went down with an apparent leg injury.

ESPN’s Nick Wagoner tweeted that Moore appeared to suffer left knee injury. The severity and exact nature of Moore’s ailment were unknown immediately after Tuesday’s session.

Moore limped off the field slowly and took a cart to the locker room.

This would be a fairly significant blow to an already thin 49ers offensive line. Moore was receiving first-team reps at left tackle while Trent Williams wasn’t in during team drills. That’s an indicator that Moore is the likely favorite to win the swing tackle job.

If he’s out for an extended period, second-year OL Leroy Watson and veteran Matt Pryor would be next in line for the swing tackle job. Although if Moore suffered a serious injury the team may look at available free agents to bring in for additional competition.

Jaguars place WR Jaylon Moore on injured reserve

The Jaguars placed Jaylon Moore on injured reserve to make room for XFL pass rusher Willie Taylor III.

The Jacksonville Jaguars added XFL pass rusher Willie Taylor III on Wednesday and made room on the roster by placing wide receiver Jaylon Moore on injured reserve.

Moore, 25, spent the 2022 season on the Jaguars’ practice squad after spending the first two years of his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens.

Through three seasons in the NFL, the former undrafted free agent hasn’t played in a regular season game. Landing on the injured reserve in the offseason means that Moore’s 2023 season is over.

While the details of his season-ending injury have not been made public, Moore hinted at the news in a post on Instagram last week.

“Definitely one the most frustrating part of my life but I know everything happens for a reason,” Moore wrote.

The Jaguars have four veterans presumably locking down four roster spots in Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Jamal Agnew. The remainder of the depth chart will be sorted out in training camp with Tim Jones, Kevin Austin Jr., and sixth-round pick Parker Washington among the top contenders.

Jaguars bring back DL Adam Gotsis, add two to practice squad

Veteran defensive lineman Adam Gotsis is back with the Jaguars three days after his release

The Jacksonville Jaguars brought Adam Gotsis back three days after releasing the veteran defensive end Thursday. On Sunday, the team announced Gotsis is back on the active roster, while newly signed Mario Edwards is headed to the practice squad.

Gotsis, 29, played in 32 games and started 18 in his last two seasons with the Jaguars. Prior to that he began his career as a second-round pick of the Denver Broncos.

The release of Gotsis was a surprise, particularly with the lack of depth along the Jacksonville defensive line. Now he’ll rejoin a group of defensive ends that is led by starters Roy Robertson-Harris and Folorunso Fatukasi.

Edwards will be joined on the practice squad by former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jaylon Moore, the Jaguars also announced. Moore signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent his first two NFL seasons on Baltimore’s practice squad.

The Ravens waived Moore near the end of August and he was claimed by the New York Giants, but waived by the Giants on Thursday.

Giants claim two WRs off of waivers from Ravens

The Giants claimed two wide receivers off of waivers from the Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have stacked up plenty of depth over the course of the 2022 offseason. With how much they’ve been able to accumulate, the team has had to part with talented players as they begin to trim their roster down to 53-players.

Baltimore had to get their roster down to 80 players by Tuesday, August 23rd at 4pm EST, and two of the players they moved on from were wide receivers Jaylon Moore and Bailey Gaither. On Wednesday, the New York Giants announced that they claimed both players off of waivers from the Ravens, effectively meaning that both found a new NFL home.

Moore signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent out of UT-Martin He spent 2020 and 2021 on the team’s practice squad, and was fighting for a spot on the team’s 2022 roster.

Gaither signed with the Ravens at the end of July, and was also trying to win a spot in the team’s wide receiver room. He spent time with the Green Bay Packers and in the USFL before his time with Baltimore.

Giants claim WR Jaylon Moore, CB Harrison Hand off of waivers

The New York Giants have claimed WR Jaylon Moore and two others off of waivers, while placing two on injured reserve and releasing one.

With injuries mounting at the wide receiver position, the New York Giants were forced to scour the waiver wire on Wednesday and they came back with a catch.

The team has claimed Jaylon Moore off of waivers from the Baltimore Ravens. He is likely to take the roster spot of Collin Johnson, who suffered a torn Achilles on Wednesday and is out for the season.

Moore, 25, was signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of UT Martin in 2020. He spent each of the previous two seasons on their practice squad and has an obvious connection to current Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

The 5-foot-11, 191-pound Moore was named 2019 The CFB Network All-Ohio Valley first team and 2019 Phil Steele Preseason All-OVC second team as a senior.

Moore missed five games in 2021 due to injury, but managed to haul in 16 receptions for 292 yards and totaled five touchdowns.

In addition to Moore, the Giants also claimed wide receiver Bailey Gaither off of waivers from the Ravens and defensive back Harrison Hand off of waivers from the Minnesota Vikings.

Gaither, 25, was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted rookie out of San Jose State in 2021. He also made a stop with the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) before joining Baltimore this offseason.

Hand, 23, was a fifth-round pick of the Vikings in the 2020 NFL draft out of Temple. He’s appeared in 23 career games (one start), recording 23 tackles, three passes defensed and one interception.

In order to clear room for the trio, tight end Jordan Akins was cut, while Johnson and wide receiver Marcus Kemp were placed on injured reserve.

Ravens reportedly cut WR Jaylon Moore

The Ravens have reportedly cut wide receiver Jaylon Moore

The Baltimore Ravens have many different players who are vying for spots on the team’s final 53-man roster. One of the positions that seemingly has a spot available is at wide receiver, and there are plenty of young players trying to make a name for themselves.

One of those wideouts has been Jaylon Moore, who has been around the team for a few years now. However, on Tuesday Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reported that Baltimore began their cutdown to 80 players, with Moore being the first of the cuts.

Moore signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of UT Martin, and spent both 2020 and 2021 on Baltimore’s practice squad. He stood out early in 2022 training camp, but didn’t produce much during the team’s two preseason games.

5 takeaways from Ravens’ Week 1 preseason win vs. Titans

We look at five takeaways from the Ravens’ Week 1 preseason win over the Tennessee Titans

The Baltimore Ravens picked up a 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the 2022 preseason. It extended their preseason winning streak to 21-straight games, which means the team is continuing to build on their NFL record.

There were plenty of things to take away from the game on all three sides of the ball. Baltimore didn’t play many of their projected starters, which meant young players had the opportunity to step up in a big way. They delivered, with many making a case for a roster spot as well as more playing time.

Below we look at five takeaways from the Ravens’ Week 1 preseason win over Tennessee.
