He racks up the Bills Wire Player of the Game nods like he puts up passing yards, touchdowns, and wins, but it’s hard not to give our distinguished award to Bills quarterback Josh Allen following Buffalo’s 34-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

Against the defense of one of the highly-sought after head coach candidates, Robert Saleh, Allen carved up a weary 49ers team for 32 completions, 375 passing yards and four touchdown passes. It was another very dominant victory for the young franchise quarterback, who completed those scores to four different playmakers as well.

Buffalo dominated on all three phases of the game to a convincing victory over the defending NFC Champions. The Bills will hope this momentum carries over to next weekend, again on primetime, as the Bills host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football in Week 14.

5 takeaways from the Bills’ 34-24 win over the 49ers

Takeaways from the Bills’ Week 13 win over the 49ers.

The Buffalo Bills left the national stage and made their prior game in Arizona a thing of the past. With the lights of Monday Night Football upon them, the Bills topped the San Francisco 49ers, 34-24.

Buffalo (9-3) didn’t quite cruise, but after a whacky start which included a few goal-line stops for both teams, the 49ers (5-7) took a brief lead early. From there, it was mostly all Bills.

With that, here are five takeaways from the Bills’ win over the 49ers in Week 13:

Allen shines on primetime again

It’s hard to argue that the Bills have a quarterback who doesn’t love when the lights are shining the brightest. Good news too, the Bills are in the midst of a couple games in a row under the circumstances of primetime football.

But even going back to last season, think about Thanksgiving, or late-heroics on Sunday Night Football against the Steelers. Bills quarterback Josh Allen loves these pressure-packed games because he usually plays pretty well in them and that was the case against the 49ers.

In the first half, Allen kept grabbing big chunks of yards, almost all of which came in the air. Allen had completions of 12, 35, 12, 13, 20, 18 and 28, just to name a few. What these completions did was kept the Bills offense on the field a lot more than their defense, that’s for sure.

Buffalo had a double-digit number of plays four times in this one, and even when the Bills went three-and-out, the offense settled for a field goal. This helped the Bills own time of possession against the Niners, 34:58 to 25:02. Hard for opposing teams to do much if they don’t have the ball, and Allen playing well puts even more pressure on them to do so.

In total, Allen, a week after only having 157 passing yards, went 32-for-40 passing for 375 yards passing with four total touchdowns. All of those went to different playmakers, too.

Have a night, Josh.

WATCH: Bills WR Cole Beasley scores, gets rocked like baby after

Buffalo Bills WR scores, gets rocked by OL Jon Feliciano in Week 13 vs. the 49ers.

The Bills had a big-time response to the crazy start of their Monday Night Football meeting in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers.

After a goal-line stop from both teams, the Bills turned the ball over near their own goal line and the 49ers went up 7-0 early. But after a 35-yard completion to Cole Beasley, quarterback Josh Allen went right back to his slot wide receiver near the goal line.

Beasley scored on a five-yard pass, just breaking the line, tying the game at seven:

And in case you didn’t notice upon the first look… offensive lineman Jon Feliciano got creative with the touchdown celebration. Feliciano decided to cradle Beasley like a baby in the middle of all of his teammates.

One for the ages:

Bills activate LB Matt Milano ahead of 49ers meeting on Monday

LB Matt Milano activated off injured reserve by Buffalo Bills ahead of Week 13 Monday Night Football.

The Buffalo Bills will have the services of linebacker Matt Milano against the San Francisco 49ers. The team announced that Milano was activated off the team’s injured reserve list on Monday, just hours prior to kickoff for the Week 13 showdown.

The Bills designated Milano to return from IR last week, but it had been unknown if he would play vs. the Niners. Linebacker Tyrel Dodson and wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins were also recently designated to return, but those two still remain on the team’s IR at this time.

It’s unclear how big of a role Milano will have against the 49ers. After initially suffering the pectoral injury, Milano was playing on a “pitch count” of sorts, along with AJ Klein. Milano, when healthy, would typically play every defensive snap for the Bills.

After playing in a limited role in Weeks 7 and 8, Milano was placed on the team’s IR instead of playing through the injury. If Milano is fully fit, he could be inserted back into that starting role, however, Klein has played well as of late. He earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors just last week, so the Bills still might want to get both players on the field.

Milano only has played in one full game for the Bills this season in which he’s played every snap.

Josh Allen, former 49ers fan turned Bills QB, is missing out on something Monday

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen grew up a San Francisco 49ers fan.

Sometimes NFL players or any athletes, movie stars, or folks with a famous persona feel like they’re larger than life. Despite Bills quarterback Josh Allen having a larger than life 6-foot-5 frame, he’s not. None of them are, we’re all people.

At one time, Allen was just another kid growing up on the farm in California and yes, he was a fan. Specifically, a fan of the team the Bills (8-3) face on Monday Night Football in Week 13, the San Francisco 49ers (5-6).

Several times Allen, specifically before even being drafted by the Bills, was candid about that. On one pre-draft occasion, Allen openly said being drafted by the 49ers was his dream while chatting on The Adam Schefter Podcast.

“I grew up a Niners fan… so it would be easy for my family to commute there,” Allen said. “Obviously they have a long, storied tradition of great quarterbacks. It’s my favorite team, man. It’d be kind of a dream come true to play for them.”

In fact, another time in 2018, Allen even admitted that growing up he had a particular No. 21 jersey. Frank Gore’s Niners jersey from when he played there. Of course, Gore and Allen were teammates that season in Buffalo because as things went, the 49ers didn’t really have much interest in the QB when he did declare for the NFL Draft.

San Francisco did have interest in Allen, back in 2017, a year earlier, though. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that this week. But then in 2018, San Francisco had Jimmy Garoppolo and didn’t need another QB.

Thus is life, but things have turned out well for Allen. He seems to be enjoying his time in Buffalo, having previously said sent this one out on social media in recent weeks:

Certainly as things did turn out, there’s no disappoint from Allen and the Bills. Things are working out just fine and everyone is happy.

But under the surface, if you care about such things, know what’s probably a little bummer? The game was moved. The Bills and 49ers will play at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, not at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. Taking the field in Santa Clara County was probably a dream of sorts for Buffalo’s quarterback, and now he’s got a long, long time until he’s going to be potentially doing so if he sticks around Buffalo like many expect.

Behind enemy lines: 5 questions with Niners Wire

Behind enemy lines ahead of Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

The Buffalo Bills will visit a bit of an unfamiliar foe in a very familiar venue on Monday Night Football in Week 13.

Rounding out the NFL’s slate, the Bills (8-3) face the San Francisco 49ers (5-6) in Arizona. Considering it’s another NFC opponent we don’t often see, let’s get all the details we can rounded up ahead of this one.

To find out more about the 49ers ahead of Monday, we stepped behind enemy lines with Kyle Madson, managing editor for our friends over at Niners Wire, to learn more:

The 49ers defense has stepped up with the ton of injuries they’ve endured this season. Who’s been the most impressive in doing so?

Two players have really stood out — defensive end Kerry Hyder and cornerback Jason Verrett. Hyder was a late acquisition in free agency and got pushed into a starting role when Nick Bosa went down with a torn ACL early in Week 2. He’s responded by leading the team in sacks and playing really well against the run. Verrett is finally healthy after playing only six games the last four years. He was a Pro Bowler his lone healthy season in 2015 and he’s playing like one again this year. San Francisco has been dealing with a slew of injuries in the secondary, but their pass defense has been strong in large part because of Verrett’s play.

The 49ers rushing attack, is that what the Bills are going to have to focus on shutting down in Kyle Shanahan’s offense?

With Nick Mullens playing quarterback, yes. Jimmy Garoppolo isn’t awesome, but he’s a bigger threat throwing the ball than Mullens is. RB Raheem Mostert is a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball, but the more dangerous aspect of their run game is WR Deebo Samuel in jet motion. Technically those go as passes because Mullens does a little forward touch pass to Samuel, but it’s ostensibly a run play. Run plays out of that motion forces defenses to respect it pre-snap and it opens holes elsewhere when linebackers and safeties start cheating to stop it. Shutting the run game down and forcing Mullens to throw under pressure will be key for the Bills’ defense. I expect Leslie Frazier to dial up a ton of blitzes Monday.

Only five games for Deebo Samuel this year. Even with Nick Mullens under center, is the offense much better with Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk are healthy despite perhaps the Niners’ run-first approach at times?

Absolutely, because of what I described in the previous question. Aiyuk really broke out in Week 7 though which was the week Samuel hurt his hamstring. Since then the rookie WR has been excellent. The field-stretching element he offers is a perfect complement for a player like Samuel who’s most effective near the line of scrimmage. It remains to be seen just how good they can be together since they haven’t gotten a ton of snaps, but they’re both explosive playmakers whose styles mesh really well. If the run game gets rolling enough that the Bills’ pressure gets dialed back, Mullens might be able to do some damage with those two WRs.

This whole Arizona thing. The 49ers organization seems a little pissed about it. Do fans feel the same? Can’t imagine the Bills playing home games at Gillette Stadium or MetLife, either. Must be weird?

It’s a little strange. Fans are more concerned about the potential impact it could have on the team’s playoff chances than anything. Nobody was allowed to watch games at Levi’s Stadium anyway, so that’s not a problem. But the 49ers need to be close to perfect down the stretch to steal a playoff spot. The entire club getting uprooted on short notice to spend at least a month away from home will make that difficult though. Plus there are a ton of human issues players and personnel are dealing with that make it hard to be mad at the football aspect. It’s a weird situation that feels like people will have harder feelings about once we see how the team plays down the stretch.

Prediction. Who wins and why?

The fact the line on this game has shifted to 49ers -1 is absolutely wild. The Bills are really good, they’re more talented than this version of the 49ers, and they’re too well-coached to overlook a San Francisco team that just punched the Rams in the mouth. I think the 49ers stay close for awhile, but eventually the Bills get a lead and their defense can tee off on a quarterback that struggles against pressure. If San Francisco can force a couple turnovers they’ll have a chance, but even an average game from Josh Allen should be plenty for Buffalo to walk away from Levi- er, State Farm Stadium, with a victory. Bills 31, 49ers 13

Why Buffalo Bills Will Win

Buffalo has to start running, keep running, and don’t stop pounding.

There’s a turnover issue – more on that in a moment – and the offense works best when Josh Allen is balancing things out with his big shots down the field, but the San Francisco secondary is getting strong again, it’s fourth in the NFL in pass D, and it’s coming off a game when it made Jared Goff of the Rams look silly.

The Bills are 5-0 when running for over 100 yards, and control in this will matter. The Rams had some success on the ground, even if most of it came from one Cam Akers run.  However …

CFN Experts Picks: NFL

Why San Francisco 49ers Will Win

Buffalo can’t give the ball away.

San Francisco is too inconsistent with its big defensive plays, but when it makes them happen, forget it.

New England was able to run wild on the Niners, and lost big because of four turnovers. The same went for the Giants, who also ran well but lost big because of three giveaways. Last week? The Rams turned it over four times.

Buffalo has turned it over at least once in every game but two, and it screwed up five times over the last two games – losing to Arizona and beating the Chargers – with mistakes.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Zack Moss, Buffalo
Can the Bills get steady production out of any of its backs? Devin Singletary has been fine at times, and Josh Allen is the most dangerous runner, but Moss has the best overall pop – now he needs the work. He ran for three touchdowns over a two-game stretch after coming off an injury, but that was it. He’ll get the ball around the goal line, but in this, feed him 15 times and watch what happens.

What’s Going To Happen

Yeah, Buffalo has had a turnover problem at times, but San Francisco has a bigger one with 13 over the last five games. The defense was able to pick up the slack against the Rams, but that won’t happen this week.

A “home” game for San Francisco in name only, it’s being played in Arizona, it’ll have a strange feel, and Buffalo will come out physical from the start as it runs for 150 yards, dominates on third downs, and is a +2 in turnover margin.

Bills at 49ers: 3 key matchups in Week 13

Bills, 49ers matchups to watch in Week 13.

The Buffalo Bills will have a unique matchup in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Not only is the game Buffalo’s first of the season on Monday Night Football, it’s not even at either team’s venue. The 49ers (5-6) will relocate to the home of the Arizona Cardinals, State Farm Stadium, where they’ll host the Bills (8-3) due to COVID-19.

Despite all these circumstances, the game is still the game… and things always come down to those games, within the game. With that, here are three key matchup to watch during Bills-49ers in Week 13:
