Nebraska entered Sunday’s high noon showdown with an uphill battle. The Huskers hosted No. 2 Iowa with Caitlin Clark, who is 39 points away from becoming the all-time scorer in NCAA women’s basketball history. Nebraska decided to spoil the surprise, upsetting the Hawkeyes 82-79.

Iowa defeated Nebraska in every matchup since Clark donned the Hawkeye jersey. Heading into the fourth, it seemed Iowa would win once again, up 69-55. But the Huskers rallied, outscoring the Hawkeyes 27-10 in the fourth to complete the comeback.

Clark nevertheless continued to put on a show in Lincoln, dropping 31 points, delivering ten assists, and hauling in eight rebounds for Iowa.

For Nebraska, Jaz Shelley finished as the Huskers’ top scorer, dropping 23 points on the afternoon. Shelley scored 15 of her points from beyond the arc, going 5-of-10 in three-point shooting. She also scored 10 points in the fourth, including the team’s final seven points.

Kendall Moriarty, Logan Nissley, and Natalie Potts combined for the other 17 fourth-quarter points. Nissley dropped 15 points in the game and went 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Potts delivered 14 points, scoring eight points in the fourth. Moriarty scored seven points for Nebraska on the afternoon.

Alexis Markowski also scored 15 points for the Huskers, accompanying her 11 rebounds in the win for her 35th career double-double. Markowski is fourth in school history for career double-doubles and is six away from breaking the school record.

Nebraska returned home Saturday night following two road losses. The Huskers welcomed in Michigan, seeking their elusive 17th win, something they haven’t done since 2018-2019. Nebraska won in dominating fashion, blowing out the Wolverines en route to a 75-59 victory.

The Huskers erupted in the first half, leading by as much as 43-13 before heading into the locker rooms up 45-25. On the night, Nebraska shot 30-of-64 while Michigan shot just 20-of-62.

Keisei Tominaga finished the night as the Huskers’ top scorer, landing 19 points, by going 8-of-14 in total shooting. Tominaga also shot 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, reaching a season total of 50 in three-pointers. He is now 17 three-pointers away from reaching the top-10 in school history for three-pointers made in a single season.

Josiah Allick took runner-up in scoring for Nebraska, dropping 16 points by going 7-of-10 in total shooting. Allick also led the Huskers in rebounds, hauling in eight. Brice Williams scored 13 points for Nebraska, shooting 5-of-9 from the field. Rienk Mast tallied up 11 points for the Huskers and led the team in assists with eight.

Points off turnovers and three-pointers were Nebraska’s main burdens throughout the game. Northwestern finished the night with 26 points off turnovers and landed 11 shots from beyond the arc. The Huskers, meanwhile, only put up seven points off turnovers and delivered just six baskets from three-point range.

Nebraska overall saw four players score double-digit points. Juwan Gary led the charge for the Huskers, tallying up 15 points. Brice Williams led the team in rebounds with 10, accompanying his total of 13 points scored to earn his first double-double of the season. Jamarques Lawrence scored 12 points, and Keisei Tominaga rounded the squad with 11 points.

The Huskers hit the road to battle Michigan Tuesday night. Nebraska entered the game coming off a one-point loss to Rutgers on Saturday. The Huskers’ battle with the Wolverines also went down to the wire. This time, Nebraska finished on top, taking down Michigan 65-59.

The Huskers held the lead for most of the second half, after trailing by as much as nine in the first half. Nebraska’s lead over the Wolverines never grew bigger than six points, but the Huskers held off Michigan’s attempts to take the lead back.

Alexis Markowski shepherded the most points for Nebraska, tallying up 18 points on the night. Markowski delivered her 18 points by going 8-of-11 in total shooting. She also led the team in rebounds with nine. Natalie Potts and Jaz Shelley also dropped double-digit points, with Potts scoring 12 and Shelley chalking up 10.

The Huskers move to 15-8 on the season and 7-5 in conference play. They will return home for their second clash against Caitlyn Clark and No. 2 Iowa on Sunday. Tipoff is at noon and can be viewed on FOX.

Nebraska men’s basketball hit the road for another top-25 matchup. The Huskers faced off against No. 14 Illinois and looked to finally snap their road game-losing streak. However, Nebraska once again failed, falling to the Fighting Illini in overtime 87-84.

The Huskers and Illinois duked it out all night but slip-ups by Nebraska gave the Fighting Illini the edge. The Huskers recorded 21 fouls in the loss, while Illinois only surrendered 12. Nebraska’s fouls set the Fighting Illini up with 30 free-throw attempts, where Illinois landed 20. The Huskers, meanwhile, only dropped 14 free throws.

Keisei Tominaga delivered a career-high 31 points to lead Nebraska in scoring, going five-of-seven from beyond the arc and eight-of-eight at the free-throw line. Rienk Mast finished runner-up in scoring for the Huskers, tallying up 22 points, and going four-of-nine in three-point shooting.

Juwan Gary scored double-digits for Nebraska as well, dropping 12 points. Gary also hauled in 11 rebounds to make it his fourth double-double of the season.

The Scarlet Knights won the battle through their shooting efficiency, going 28-of-47 while Nebraska completed 23-of-68. The Huskers remained in the battle through trips to the free-throw line (17) and points off turnovers (25).  But Rutgers’ third-quarter surge put Nebraska down 60-49, forcing the Huskers to climb out of the hole in the fourth.

Alexis Markowski and Jaz Shelley finished the game as Nebraska’s top scorers. The duo dropped double-digit points for the Huskers, with Markowski scoring 13 and Shelley landing 11.

Freshmen Jessica Petrie and Logan Nissley each put together a solid game for Nebraska, with Petrie scoring nine points and Nissley dropping eight.

Kendall Moriarty also scored eight points, going 2-of-2 in total shooting, landing both of her shots from beyond the arc while also being 2-of-2 from the free throw line.

The Huskers now fall to 14-8 on the season and 6-5 in conference play. Nebraska will travel to Michigan for its next game Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and can be viewed on B1G+.

The Huskers found themselves in trouble in the first half, down 43-27. But Nebraska exited the locker rooms on fire, erasing the deficit before upsetting Wisconsin 80-72 in overtime.

The Huskers outscored the Badgers 40-24 in the second half, nearly ending it in regulation before Wisconsin secured a layup to force overtime. Nebraska pulled away in the end, achieving its second top-10 upset this season. A key stat of the game came at the free throw line, where the Huskers landed 19-of-26 while Wisconsin only shot 8-of-12.

C.J. Wilcher led Nebraska in scoring after dropping only six points in the first half. Wilcher helped the Huskers roar back in the second half and overtime, finishing the game with a career-high 22 points. Wilcher’s scoring came primarily from beyond the arc, landing five of seven shots.

Rienk Mast finished behind Wilcher in scoring, landing 20 points on the night for Nebraska. Brice Williams rounded out the Huskers’ double-digit scorers, tallying up 17 points. Williams also led the team in rebounds with nine and free throws with eight.

The Huskers battled it out with Purdue throughout the first half and entered the locker rooms up 32-29. However, Nebraska took off in third quarter, outscoring the Boilermakers 22-14 to enter the fourth up 54-43.

The Huskers finished the game with five players scoring double-digit points. Alexis Markowski and Darian White shared the top spot as Nebraska’s top scorer with both players delivering 14 points on the night.

Natalie Potts and Kendall Moriarty both finished runner-up in scoring for the Huskers in the win, dropping 11 points. Moriarty’s 11 points in the game also tied her career high. Jaz Shelley rounded out the double-digit scorers for Nebraska, tallying up 10 points on the night.

The Huskers traveled to their neighboring state Saturday for their first of two conference rivalry games against Caitlin Clark and No. 5 Iowa. Clark’s undefeated against the Huskers with a 7-0 record heading into the matchup. That record became 8-0 as Clark and the Hawkeyes took down Nebraska 92-73.

The Huskers battled Clark and Iowa throughout the first half and the fourth quarter. But a third-quarter slip-up ended up being the factor in the game. Iowa and Clark outscored the Huskers 27-18, giving the Hawkeyes a 63-49 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Clark tallied up 38 points in Iowa’s win, going 12-of-22 in shooting and 8-of-15 from beyond the arc. Both Iowa and Nebraska took 59 shots in the game but the Hawkeyes landed eight more baskets than the Huskers.

Jaz Shelley led Nebraska in scoring, dropping 19 points by going 7-of-17 in shooting and 5-of-11 in three-point shooting. Alexis Markowski finished by Shelley with 17 points and 11 rebounds, earning her 34th double-double in her career. Markowski is now fourth in school history in career double-doubles and is six away from tying the school record.

The road woes continued for the Huskers’ men’s basketball team in its Saturday east coast showdown against Maryland. Nebraska is 0-5 in conference away games this season after falling to the Terrapins 73-51.

Maryland controlled the game throughout, leading the Huskers 44-27 at halftime and holding a comfortable margin. The Terrapins attempted 21 more shots and landed nine baskets than Nebraska in the game. Maryland also scored 25 points off the Huskers’ 18 turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25.

C.J. Wilcher finished as Nebraska’s only double-digit scorer, dropping 14 points in the game. Wilcher also finished five-of-seven in shooting and four-of-six in three-point shooting.

Nebraska falls to 15-6 as it enters its final third of the regular season. The Huskers will split the final ten games, with five on the road and five at home.
