The Huskers traveled to their neighboring state Saturday for their first of two conference rivalry games against Caitlin Clark and No. 5 Iowa. Clark’s undefeated against the Huskers with a 7-0 record heading into the matchup. That record became 8-0 as Clark and the Hawkeyes took down Nebraska 92-73.

The Huskers battled Clark and Iowa throughout the first half and the fourth quarter. But a third-quarter slip-up ended up being the factor in the game. Iowa and Clark outscored the Huskers 27-18, giving the Hawkeyes a 63-49 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Clark tallied up 38 points in Iowa’s win, going 12-of-22 in shooting and 8-of-15 from beyond the arc. Both Iowa and Nebraska took 59 shots in the game but the Hawkeyes landed eight more baskets than the Huskers.

Jaz Shelley led Nebraska in scoring, dropping 19 points by going 7-of-17 in shooting and 5-of-11 in three-point shooting. Alexis Markowski finished by Shelley with 17 points and 11 rebounds, earning her 34th double-double in her career. Markowski is now fourth in school history in career double-doubles and is six away from tying the school record.

Nebraska falls to 13-7 on the season and 5-4 in conference play. It will return home to face Purdue on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and can be viewed on B1G+ and Nebraska Public Media.
