Four-star defensive lineman Hero Kanu puts Texas among top schools

Texas is still in the mix for four-star defensive lineman Hero Kanu out of California.

Texas is still in the mix for one of the top defensive lineman in the 2022 recruiting class.

Four-star defensive tackle Hero Kanu announced the top nine schools left in his recruitment on Friday. The 6-foot-5, 293-pound California native is rated the No. 13 player at his position and the No. 82 overall prospect for the 2022 cycle according to 247Sports.

Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, Georgia and Washington made the cut alongside Texas.

Kanu is originally from Germany and grew up playing soccer. He’s only been playing football for two years and participated in his first high school game in the United States in March for Santa Margarita Catholic (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA).

Over the month of June, Kanu took unofficial visits to LSU and Texas A&M. With proper coaching and development, he could easily become a starter at a Power Five program thanks to his natural athleticism.

Texas offers 2023 four-star running back Justice Haynes

He’s the No. 3 RB in the 2023 cycle and a top five overall prospect from the state of Georgia.

On Wednesday, one of the top running back prospects for the 2023 cycle announced that he received an offer from the University of Texas.

Justice Haynes is rated the No. 3 running back for the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 5 overall prospect out of the state of Georgia according to 247Sports.

In 2020, Haynes carried the ball 176 times for 1,744 yards and 23 rushing touchdowns for Blessed Trinity Catholic. He added five receptions for 98 yards and two touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound playmaker has compiled offers from Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M and Florida among others.

Texas Football: Three recent 247Sports crystal ball predictions in favor of the Longhorns

According to 247Sports crystal ball predictions, three 2022 prospects have significant interest in Texas.

Two four-star prospects and one three-star recruit from the 2022 recruiting class reportedly have significant interest in Texas.

Brenen Thompson, Sebastian Cheeks and Jeremy Patton each recently had crystal ball predictions entered in favor of the Longhorns. Thompson is the highest rated of the four prospects and is the No. 11 wide receiver in the 2022 cycle. Cheeks is rated just behind Thompson and is considered the No. 4 inside linebacker from Illinois.

Crystal ball predictions are not a sure-shot of where a player will commit to, but it serves as a strong indicator of the interest between the player and the program.
