Updated Big 12 Men’s Basketball Standings

Updated Big 12 standings.

The Big 12 has been a gauntlet this season. Even the highest-ranked teams in the conference have had their struggles, especially when going on the road.

Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Baylor, the league’s four highest-ranked teams, have are a combined 12-8 this season. Houston is one of four teams in the conference without a road win.

It’s tough to win games in the best basketball conference in the country, especially on the road, where teams are a combined 10-25 this season.

Seven teams are currently within one game of first place in the conference and 13 of the 14 teams are within two games of first place in the Big 12. It’s going to be a wild six weeks in conference play and the Big 12 tournament is going to be must-see television.

Here’s a look at the latest Big 12 standings.

Both Texas men’s and women’s basketball on top of the Big 12

Texas leads the Big 12 in both men’s and women’s basketball.

The University of Texas is getting the job done on the basketball court. Both the Longhorns men’s and women’s basketball teams currently sit at the top of the Big 12 Conference standings.

Texas women’s basketball has overcome a slow start to the season and is one of the hottest teams in the nation. The Longhorns are winners of seven out of their last eight games, improving to 18-6 overall.

On the men’s side, Texas keeps finding ways to win in league play. Rodney Terry’s squad is 3-0 in one-possession games following its big win over Kansas State on Saturday. They find themselves at 8-2 in Big 12 play with a massive opportunity against Kansas on Monday.

Each team is building a solid resume for the NCAA Tournament in March. Last season Texas’ women made a run to the Elite Eight while the men’s team advanced to the round of 32.

Looking at the Big 12 basketball standings following Saturday’s results

Texas is getting closer to a Big 12 regular season title.

The Big 12 standings are taking shape in the early days of February. The Texas Longhorns are moving into strong positioning after wins over the Baylor Bears and Kansas State Wildcats.

It wasn’t such a great week for the Wildcats after dropping two games for the week and losing its first-place tie with the Longhorns. K-State lost to Kansas before falling to Texas.

The Kansas Jayhawks were in position to grasp a share of first place with a win and a Texas loss. Unfortunately for Bill Self’s team, the opposite happened. The Iowa State Cyclones swept the Jayhawks out of the gym with a resounding 68-53 victory.

Here’s a look at the conference standings more than halfway through the Big 12 conference slate.

Power Rankings: Where Texas basketball ranks among Big 12 teams

Texas tops the Big 12 basketball power rankings.

The regular season is over for Texas football, but it’s barely underway for Texas basketball.

Through six games, the Longhorns are 6-0 and one of only two undefeated teams in the Big 12 conference.

Kansas and Baylor entered the season as the primary challenges for the Big 12 conference. Both have played well this season despite each suffering a borderline blowout loss.

Iowa State and Oklahoma have had up-and-down performances, but each secured quality nonconference victories in the early going. Iowa State defeated both Villanova and preseason No. 1 North Carolina, while Oklahoma earned a win over Seton Hall.

Kansas State is the surprise team of the league after a 6-0 start. The Wildcats’ better wins came against LSU, Nevada, California and Rhode Island.

Let’s rank the top teams in the conference through the first few games.

Updated Big 12 basketball standings with one week to go

Kansas remains at the top, but Baylor and Texas Tech are in striking distance with one week left in the regular season.

Saturday was one of the wildest days in college basketball history. Seven of the top 10 teams in the land lost including two Big 12 conference teams in No. 5 Kansas and No. 9 Texas Tech. The parody in college basketball has never been higher.

No. 10 Baylor got back into the conference championship race after taking down the Jayhawks 80-70. The Bears are just half a game back with one week to go.

TCU can feel much better about their NCAA tournament resume after a thrilling upset win over Texas Tech. The Horned Frogs erased a double-digit second half deficit, winning 69-66.

No. 20 Texas escaped Morgantown with an 82-81 win over West Virginia. Timmy Allen scored 26 points to lead the Horns to victory No. 21 on the season.

Iowa State also boosted its NCAA tournament resume after coming out on top against Kansas State 74-73.

This edition of Bedlem was won by the Oklahoma Sooners in an overtime affair. A nice win for Porter Moser over their in-state rivals.
