‘Beast Mode’ can now be found in the dictionary

It’s officially been added by Merriam-Webster

Well, this is quite the fun bit of news this weekend. Fans of the Seattle Seahawks have become accustomed very well to the phrase “Beast Mode” thanks to the efforts of beloved star running back Marshawn Lynch. Now, fans can enjoy it as an actual word.

Yes, you read that right. It’s now an actual word/phrase that is now in the dictionary! Merriam-Webster added it, along with nearly 700 words and phrases.

Of course, the phrase came into the popular Seattle vernacular following Lynch’s iconic touchdown run in the 2010 Wild Card game against the New Orleans Saints. Leading 34-30, the Seahawks were on the verge of an upset, but still needed points to help ice the game. Enter: Lynch, who bulldozed his way into the end zone and NFL immortality.

Thanks to Lynch’s efforts, the Seahawks would hold on to upset the defending World Champion Saints 41-36 to become the first below-.500 team to win a playoff game.

Marshawn Lynch drove doughnuts on a Zamboni to celebrate becoming a Seattle Kraken part owner

Marshawn is doing that hockey

Marshawn Lynch is on a mission to have as much fun in retirement as he did during his NFL career and boy is he succeeding.

From landing roles in Netflix shows and upcoming movies to investing in his own cannabis company, Lynch did not go quietly into the night. Now he’s back in the Seattle pro sports scene as a part owner of the NHL’s Kraken and the way Beast Mode celebrated his new role was entirely predictable.

After donning a Seattle jersey and cap, Lynch bolted straight for the Zamboni at the club’s practice rink and got back to his wild, cart driving ways.

We wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Kraken are -117 on the moneyline Monday night against the Ottawa Senators at Tipico. A boost from Beast Mode might be exactly the edge bettors are looking for. Regardless, any time Lynch shows up at Climate Pledge Arena, it’s sure to be entertaining.

Welcome to the NHL, Marshawn. Hopefully you find the names a bit easier to pronounce now.

Watch Hasselbeck tell a funny story about the ball from that play.

The Seahawks will be putting Mike Holmgren and Matt Hasselbeck into their ring of honor at halftime of Monday night’s game against the Saints.

Hasselbeck enjoyed some notable wins over New Orleans in his time, none more awesome than their upset wild card victory in the 2010-2011 season. The play that sealed the deal was Marshawn Lynch’s famous Beast Quake run. Watch Hasselbeck tell a funny story about the ball from that play.

Justin Flowe partners with Marshawn Lynch, Beast Mode Marketing in new NIL deal

Oregon’s Justin Flowe has partnered with Marshawn Lynch and Beast Mode Marketing in a new NIL deal to represent him off the field.

Justin Flowe and Marshawn ‘Beast Mode’ Lynch. That’s a duo that we never knew we needed, but it makes more sense than you can imagine.

On Thursday morning, it was announced that Oregon Ducks’ freshman linebacker Justin Flowe had agreed to terms on a partnership with Beast Mode Marketing, the company founded by Lynch, to represent Oregon’s star defender in Name, Image, and Likeness deals going forward.

Flowe was injured in Oregon’s first game of the 2021 season and will miss the rest of the year, but he is among the most talented players on the Ducks roster and has a clear future in this sport. In a release on Thursday, Lynch stated that his health is the most important thing, but that he would be excited to work with Flowe going forward.

This is Flowe’s second year with the Ducks, and unfortunately the second time he has missed significant games because of an injury. He was forced to sit out his true freshman season with a knee injury as well. We don’t know the true nature of his foot injury this time around, but he has been seen at Oregon practices in a walking boot, wheeling around on a scooter.

Going forward, we can hope that he will return to the field in full health and bring a little bit of Beast Mode to Oregon’s defense once again.

Marshawn Lynch open to coming out of retirement — under one condition

Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch stated in an interview with Conan O’Brien that he is open to coming out of retirement for one reason.

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch said he is open to coming out of retirement in an interview with Conan O’Brien on Wednesday. However, he said he will only return to the league if a surefire Super Bowl contender wishes to sign him, adding that several teams have recently asked him if he would consider joining them.

“If the situation is right, then I mean, it could happen,” Lynch said. “I’ve been asked the question by a couple teams here recently. Like, ‘Are you ready?’ I’m ready if you all are Super Bowl-ready. That’s what it would take me to come out, to come and play again. It would have to be a guaranteed Super Bowl game for me.”

The 34-year-old Lynch ranks No. 29 on the all-time list for rushing yards (10,413). If he were to come back to the NFL, the Seahawks are not likely to be his top choice, but could we see Beast Mode in the blue and green once more? Anything is possible.

3 more Seahawks named to PFF’s top-101 players of the decade

Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner and Marshawn Lynch join Pro Football Focus’ top-101 players of the decade list.

Pro Football Focus has now revealed rankings 25-101 of their top-101 players from the last decade, and nine total Seattle Seahawks have appeared on the list.

Greg Olsen, Doug Baldwin, Brandon Marshall, Michael Bennett, Duane Brown and Kam Chancellor all appeared outside of the top-50, and now they have been joined by three more just outside the top-25: quarterback Russell Wilson, linebacker Bobby Wagner and running back Marshawn Lynch.

Lynch, the man they call Beast Mode, is perhaps the most recognizable running back of the last decade. After beginning his career in Buffalo, Lynch came to the Seahawks and helped lead them to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances. He has left the game twice now, but returned once again last season to rush for four touchdowns in three games for the Seahawks. Coach Pete Carroll has not ruled out a return for the veteran rusher, but even if this is it for Beast Mode, he’s had a heck of a career and can commit full-time to acting if he wants.

Wilson comes in at No. 33 overall, having missed the first few years of the decade but dominating ever since he joined Seattle as a third round pick in 2012. Despite never receiving an MVP vote, Wilson has been among the best quarterbacks in the entire NFL since 2012, and easily deserves this spot on the list – and one could argue he deserves to be higher.

Wilson’s fellow rookie in 2012, linebacker Bobby Wagner, comes in at No. 39 overall on this list. Wagner cemented himself as the best middle linebacker in the league over the past few seasons, and he helped anchor the infamous Legion of Boom defense during the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl appearances. The six-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro is not done yet, and could easily find himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame when all is said and done.

With nine Seahawks already on the list, Seattle should get into double digits when the rest of the list is revealed on Thursday.

Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman are near guarantees to be featured in the top-25, which will give Seattle 11 players among the top-101 from what is without a doubt the most successful decade in the franchise’s history.

Marshawn Lynch to speak at Princeton’s Class Day ceremony

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has been selected as the Class Day speaker at Princeton University’s graduation.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is known as a lot of things: elite football player, philanthropist, entrepreneur, actor, and now – public speaker.

Lynch’s past public speaking endeavors have been noted primarily for their brevity, as he has made it clear conversing with the media is not his cup of tea.

When he does speak, he often leaves the listeners with extremely memorable sound bites, including his most recent “take care of yo’ chicken” advice to younger players, which Lynch has now trademarked and branded with his clothing line, Beast Mode Apparel.

Lynch’s next speaking event won’t be to the NFL’s young talent, but rather the 2020 graduating class at Princeton University, one of America’s most prestigious colleges.

“Mr. Lynch’s sustained professional excellence is not the only reason we are excited to have him serve as our Class Day speaker,” said a few of the Class Day co-chairs. “His substantive work in communities stands alongside his on-field success…From his stops in the Bay Area, to Buffalo, to Seattle, Mr. Lynch has always prioritized community engagement and empowerment by leveraging his prominence as a professional athlete to promote opportunities for civic engagement and social justice.”

No word on if Lynch’s financial advice will be the same with Princeton grads as it was to the rest of the NFL – but you can bet it will be entertaining nonetheless.

Michael Robinson believes Marshawn Lynch wants to play in 2020

Former Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson believes his good friend Marshawn Lynch wants to play for Seattle again in 2020.

Former Seattle Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson, now an analyst for the NFL Network, remains close friends with Marshawn Lynch and believes the superstar running back’s playing days are not yet over.

Lynch took 14 months off, from October of 2018 until late December of this past year when the Seahawks signed him off the street and plugged him into their lineup, where he racked up four rushing touchdowns in three games.

Now, Lynch has a tough decision to make. Does he retire (again) or does he give it one more shot?

Robinson, speaking to NBC Sports Northwest on the Talkin’ Seahawks podcast, not only believes Lynch wants to continue his playing career, but he thinks he’ll only do it in the green and blue.

“[In] my humble opinion, I think he wants to play, and I don’t think he’ll want to play for any other team than the Seattle Seahawks,” Robinson said. “I knew he was going to get bored, I just didn’t know when.”

Lynch may not be the player he once was, but he proved in a limited sample that he can still drag the football into the end zone. For a team that is going into 2020 with Chris Carson (hip) and Rashaad Penny (ACL) as their top two backs, bringing a player like Lynch back on an incentive-laden, one-year deal to serve as the team’s short-yardage back makes some sense – and that’s not even considering the publicity he brings.

Plus, Lynch was shown on tv broadcasts being a strong mentor to 2019 rookie running back Travis Homer, and having him around for another year could further bolster Homer’s development – while they each serve as much-needed injury insurance for Carson and Penny.

The fit is there, and coach Pete Carroll indicated the team is open to whatever regarding Beast Mode, but it all depends on what Lynch himself wants to do.

Robinson may know him better than anyone, but if we know anything about Lynch, it is that he’s unpredictable.
