Chicago Bears and former Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Roquan Smith has requested a trade.

Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith has requested a trade. Smith has been holding out and not participating in training camp.

The Chicago Bears selected Roquan Smith with the eighth pick of the 2018 NFL draft. Smith has recorded 524 total tackles during his four year NFL career. Smith is one of the top linebackers in the NFL. He has 14.0 sacks and five interceptions during his time with the Bears.

Smith has been trying to negotiate a new contract with Chicago and has grown frustrated with the process. The Bears’ linebacker shared his frustrations with the process.

Unfortunately, the new front office regime doesn’t value me here. They’ve refused to negotiate in good faith… The deal sent to me is one that would be bad for myself, and the entire LB market if I signed it.

Roquan Smith is entering the final year of his contract. Smith is set to make $9,735,000 in 2022, but wanted to reach a long term deal with the Bears.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared the news of Roquan Smith’s trade request:

Former Georgia, Ohio State QB Justin Fields predicts rookie Madden rating

Former Georgia football and Ohio State Buckeyes QB Justin Fields, now with the Chicago Bears, predicted his rookie rating in Madden 22.

All football players dream of one day seeing themselves featured in a video game. More specifically, EA Sports’ popular game, Madden.

This year’s rookie class will soon get that chance, with the next edition of Madden set to be released in August, just in time for the 2021 season.

The Checkdown recently posted a video of a handful of rookie quarterbacks predicting what their rating will be when the game is released.

Typically, rookie quarterbacks selected in the first round of the NFL draft tend to find themselves rated in the mid-70s.

Out of the quarterbacks that The Checkdown interviewed, former Georgia and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields was the only one to predict a realistic rating for himself.

“To be honest, I think my Madden rating is going to be like a 78 through 81, of course, just because … rookies,” Fields said.

The Chicago Bears selected Fields with No. 11 pick in the first round of the draft.

Former UGA DT expected to miss several games for Chicago Bears

Former Georgia Bulldog standout defensive lineman John Jenkins is expected to miss several games for the Chicago Bears with a thumb injury.

Former Georgia Bulldog standout defensive lineman John Jenkins played through a torn thumb ligament this past week. Jenkins helped the Chicago Bears defeat the New York Giants 17-13.

Now, Jenkins is anticipated to miss several games with his injury. Jenkins signed with the Bears following a career year with the Miami Dolphins last season. Jenkins has two tackles so far this season and has played in approximately one-third of Chicago’s defensive snaps.

Last season, Jenkins recorded a career-high 34 tackles in 16 games for the Miami Dolphins.

In order to replace Jenkins’ presence, the Bears are signing Daniel McCullers, a defensive tackle on the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and NFL Draft Diamonds reported the news.

Daniel McCullers is one of the few players in the NFL who is bigger than John Jenkins. Jenkins should return to the Bears in several weeks. The Chicago Bears are off to a surprising 2-0 start to the 2020 NFL season.
