After further review: Revisiting 5 bold predictions entering Bears’ 2021 season

Since we’ve reached 2-minute warning on the Bears’ 2021 season, let’s look back on our preseason bold predictions and see how we fared.

All year long, I’ve provided my top bold predictions for nearly every Chicago Bears game from Week 1 to Week 17 of the 2021 season. I’m nothing if not accountable and since the Bears opened their season against the Los Angeles Rams in September, I’ve made 68 bold predictions.

Of those 68 predictions, 24 of them ended up coming to fruition while the other 44 just look plain foolish in hindsight. Of course, I just started predicting Robert Quinn sacks over the last month and a half, but they still count. And if the Bears lose this weekend, my prediction winning percentage will be the same as the team’s.

In addition to the weekly predictions, I also made five bold claims heading into the season. Since we’ve reached two-minute warning on the regular season as a whole and this game against the Minnesota Vikings is meaningless, let’s look back on those preseason predictions and see just how I wrong I was about the season.

4 bold predictions for Bears’ prime-time meeting with Vikings

Things could get wild on the lakefront as the Bears face the Vikings on Monday, which is great if you’re looking for some bold predictions.

The Chicago Bears are set to play their second prime-time game in as many weeks when they welcome in the Minnesota Vikings to Soldier Field on Monday night. But the storyline all week has nothing to do with the matchup, but rather COVID-19 and who will actually be available to play when the game begins?

A number of players are out for both teams but the game is still to be played as scheduled with the Bears looking to play spoilers for the playoff-hopeful Vikings. But if we know anything about Minnesota, it’s that you should expect the unexpected when it comes to their games. The Vikings have played in three overtime games already this year and all but one of their games has had a result within one score.

Things could get wild on the lakefront Monday night, which is great if you’re looking for some bold predictions.

5 bold predictions for Bears vs. Cardinals

From big outings from Robert Quinn and Jaylon Johnson to a surprise at receiver, our bold predictions as the Bears battle the Cardinals.

The Chicago Bears set out this weekend to do something they’ve only done once this season when they take on the Arizona Cardinals, and that’s win two games in a row.

The last time the Bears had a winning streak came in early October, which was also started after a victory over the Lions. But they face a Cardinals team that’s rested and healing up.

The 9-2 Cardinals are coming off a bye week and will presumably get quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins back from injury. The Bears, meanwhile, will be without Justin Fields for another game, meaning Andy Dalton gets the start once again.

With the Cardinals vying for homefield advantage in the postseason race, this could be a game that gets ugly early. But I’m predicting a close one on the lakefront for a number of reasons. Here are my bold predictions for Sunday’s matchup.

Bold predictions for Bears’ Thanksgiving date with Lions

After a whirlwind week, there’s still a football game to be played between the Bears and Lions this Thanksgiving. Our bold predictions:

Considering the flurry of news that’s come out regarding the Chicago Bears over the last few days, it’s easy to forget that they’re playing a football game on Thanksgiving.

The matchup against the Detroit Lions seems like an afterthought given the uncertainty with Matt Nagy’s future and the fact Justin Fields won’t be able to see the field given his injury, but the game still must be played.

Barring a rare tie, one winless streak will be coming to an end to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday. Here are my bold predictions for Thursday’s divisional matchup.

5 bold predictions for Bears’ prime-time matchup vs. Steelers

The Bears don’t meet up with the Steelers often since they’re in different conferences. But when they do, interesting things usually happen.

The Chicago Bears don’t meet up with the Pittsburgh Steelers often since they’re in different conferences. But when they do, interesting things usually take place.

For example, the Bears had two defensive scores in their last trip to Pittsburgh in a 40-23 win. In 2017, they completed one pass to a wide receiver while blowing a 10-point lead in a 23-17 overtime victory.

So what can we expect this year when two below-average offenses face off against one another? I’m going to go out on a limb and say something out of the ordinary.

Here are my bold predictions for this AFC-NFC prime-time showdown between two historic franchises.

5 bold predictions for Bears’ Week 6 showdown vs. Packers

From Justin Fields’ big day to Jaylon Johnson vs. Davante Adams, here are our bold predictions as the Bears battle the Packers.

The oldest and best rivalry in the NFL is renewed this weekend when the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field for their 201st meeting in the regular season. Well, maybe “best” is pushing it at this point since the Bears can only seem to beat the Packers once every three years or so. But hey, maybe that means they’re due, right?

It’s been the same story for over a decade at this point: Aaron Rodgers just finds ways to rip your heart out while the Bears offense struggles to play one complete quarter, let alone an entire game. That may be changing already, however, with Justin Fields getting his first start in the rivalry. Hopefully he can end the carousel of quarterbacks that Rodgers feebly attempted to name this week.

At the very least, I’m predicting this game will be a lot closer and competitive than in years past. And speaking of picks, here are my bold predictions for Bears vs. Packers this week.

5 bold predictions for Bears’ Week 5 matchup vs. Raiders

From Justin Fields’ big day to Khalil Mack’s revenge, here are our bold predictions for the Bears’ Week 5 matchup vs. Raiders.

I don’t know if I’m just in a good mood following the news that Justin Fields is the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears moving forward or what, but I have a dangerous amount of enthusiasm for this team on Sunday. I honestly have not felt this confident about an upcoming offensive performance since last season’s beatdown in Jacksonville.

I know the Las Vegas Raiders are 3-1 and Sin City can certainly make you do crazy things, but I’m feeling good about a big win this week for the Bears to go over .500 for the first time this season. Here’s how they’ll get there in this week’s bold predictions.

5 bold predictions ahead of Bears vs. Lions

From Cole Kmet’s big day to Eddie Goldman’s season debut, here are our bold predictions for the Bears’ game vs. Lions.

It’s been a rough week for fans of the Chicago Bears. The national media is lambasting the team, whether it’s that Matt Nagy should have been fired months ago, or suggesting that Justin Fields should force his way out of the city.

There seem to be no answers after the painful 26-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday and all the hope leading up to Fields’ first start collapsed faster than his pocket during that game. But things could be looking up with the Detroit Lions coming into town.

Though head coach Dan Campbell has his team playing competitive football, the Lions are still 0-3 and can’t put a full game together. This matchup presents the perfect “get right” opportunity for the Bears and when these teams normally face off, some weird stuff goes down. I only hit 1/5 of my bold predictions last week, but I’m feeling confident with this week’s slate.

5 bold predictions for Bears’ home opener vs. Bengals

From Justin Fields’ first TD pass to a wild finish, here are our bold predictions for Bears vs. Bengals.

It’s onward and upward for the Chicago Bears as they try to rebound from last week’s embarrassing 34-14 primetime loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Fortunately, they face a Cincinnati Bengals team that feels a bit less formidable than the previous opponent.

While they aren’t pushovers, they’re still a tier or two below the Rams in terms of class. Which means this week’s predictions might have a better shot of coming to fruition.

Here are five bold predictions for this week’s game against the Bengals.

5 bold predictions ahead of the Bears’ 2021 season

From Andy Dalton’s hot start to Eddie Jackson’s bounce-back year, here are our bold predictions for the Bears’ 2021 season.

Football is in the air and the Chicago Bears season is just around the corner. All of our most outlandish predictions will finally have a chance to come to fruition this Sunday when the Bears travel to California to take on the Los Angeles Rams in primetime.

We’ve heard it all over the last few months, from experts saying that Justin Fields will light the league on fire when he gets a chance to start, to others believing Jaylon Johnson becomes a top-five cornerback, and everything in between. It’s a great time to have hot takes and outlandish opinions, both good and bad. So why not give you mine? Here are my five bold predictions for the 2021 Chicago Bears.
