Barstool Sports’ Jersey Jerry’s 37-hour+ pursuit of hole-in-one has taken over the internet

What a moment!

Many golfers have been asked, “How many shots would it take for you to make a hole-in-one?” It’s a hard question to answer without trying to do it, so Jersey Jerry from Barstool Sports put himself to the test.

Barstool’s Chicago office has a full golf simulator, and Jerry spent more than 37 hours in there hunting down an ace. Yes, you read that correctly, 37 hours — he slept in there Wednesday night!

Throughout his battle, countless stars have shown their support on social media including Tom Brady, Max Homa and Brooks Koepka. Heck, even the PGA Tour YouTube account commented its support.

Well, 37 hours and 2,627 shots later, Jersey Jerry made an ace Thursday morning!

You can follow Barstool Sports’ Jerry After Dark YouTube Channel here.

Here are some of the congratulatory messages from social media:

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy roasted for asinine Brittany Mahomes take on Twitter

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy was roundly roasted on Twitter for his asinine take on Brittany Mahomes.

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy has never shied away from controversy, and his most recent outburst on Twitter had Kansas City Chiefs fans up in arms.

After Patrick and Brittany Mahomes showed off a loungewear line by “SKIMS,” Portnoy took his opportunity to become part of the dialogue, calling the reigning MVP’s wife “trash.”

The subtext of Portnoy’s comment is of little importance. His unnecessary tweet was seized upon by Chiefs fans and other users of the beleaguered social media site alike as they lashed out at “El Presidente” for his unkind words toward one of the NFL’s most beloved football families.

Some of the responses to Portnoy’s post were made in anger, while others were just happy to dogpile on the polarizing media figure.

One thing is certain, though: Kansas City’s fans weren’t about to let the Barstool founder get away with speaking ill of the Mahomes family online.

Check out some of their best reactions below:

One mortal lock, everybody knows the rules: Dave Portnoy makes his Northwestern at Rutgers pick

Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy is picking Rutgers football to win on Sunday.

The last time Dave Portnoy picked Rutgers in a season opener, it worked out pretty well for him. For Sunday’s season opener against Big Ten rival Northwestern, Portnoy picked Rutgers.

Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports and the best reviewer of pizza (and watermelon), has been complimentary of Rutgers in the past. This includes last fall where he praised Rutgers and the Big Ten program’s facilities.

Portnoy was asked for his “mortal lock” college football pick of the week by Dan Katz, better known as ‘Big Cat’ by Stoolies. Portnoy was locked-in on his pick.

“I’m going to go with Rutgers, Rutgers -6.5. Sometimes, don’t think just throw. To me, I don’t know what the actual talent level differential is on the field,” Portnoy said.

“But you have one program, Schiano, who has bought in and they’re going to be ready to roll versus another program that is destroyed. So I’m going to go with Rutgers. Only -6.5 and maybe win by 40.”

Northwestern has had a tumultuous offseason, including the firing of head coach Pat Fitzgerald amidst allegations of hazing within the program. Replacing Fitzgerald is David Braun, who serves as the interim head coach of Northwestern.

The line from Prtnoy of Rutgers winning by 40 points is certainly an exaggeration. In 2021, Rutgers lost 21-7 at Northwestern in the last meeting between these two Big Ten programs.

Despite their 1-11 record last year, Northwestern is still a strong team. Last year, after beating Nebraska in Ireland, the Wildcats lost their next three games by a combined 18 points. Five of their losses were by eight or fewer points.

Rutgers is trending towards a sell-out for the game.

Bills’ Josh Allen will not ‘mash all the buttons’ as much in 2023 (video)

#Bills’ Josh Allen will not ‘mash all the buttons’ as much in 2023 (video):

Ahead of the upcoming Bills season, the team has routinely mentioned a hope for quarterback Josh Allen to slow down his willingness to take hits.

Allen himself finally started to agree. He even mentioned that he’s getting old… the elderly age of…27…

But Allen doubled-down with Barstool Sports.

During an interview with Pardon My Take, he used a bit of a casual description during the discussion… “mashing all the buttons.” That translates to someone playing a video game and just… hitting all the buttons at once to try a break a tackle. In fairness, it does look like Allen does that a bit on the field at times, but expect less of it in 2023 and beyond.

Allen’s discussion on taking less hits can be found in the PMT clip below:

Keegan Bradley on AimPoint: ‘In 10 years, no one will be reading greens’

Is AimPoint here to stay?

[anyclip pubname=”2122″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8171″]

There’s been a lot of talk across social media, on broadcasts, about the process of AimPoint. If you’re unfamiliar, AimPoint is a green-reading tool that many players on the PGA Tour use that allows them to feel the break of a putt by straddling the line and assigning a slope percentage based on the feel. They then use their fingers to find the starting line.

Fans have long made fun of the process, saying it takes too much time and that it’s unnecessary on short putts.

However, Tour players have found success using AimPoint over the last few years.

Just look at Keegan Bradley.

The New Englander used AimPoint to win the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands earlier this year in Connecticut, beating Zac Blair and Open champion Brian Harman by three shots.

Bradley was a guest on the newly released episode of “Side Gig with Dan Rapaport,” a series on Barstool Sports’ Fore Play Golf YouTube channel.

On the first hole, Bradley was asked about his process on the greens.

“Now that I’ve been doing AimPoint, I try not to let my eyes tell me anything,” he said. “I’m telling you, in 10 years, when these younger kids all get out, no one will be reading greens. Zero.”

Rapaport then asked, “And that doesn’t elicit any emotion in you?”

“What’s the difference?” Bradley questioned.

“Golf is about…” Rapaport said before Bradley quickly joked, “Bending down? Is that what it is?”

For a player who has struggled with the flat stick for the majority of his career, Bradley is 18th in Strokes Gained: Putting this season on Tour. For comparison, in 2021, Bradley ranked 186th (-.548).

Josh Allen explains how less during offseason means more during Bills season (video)

R&R mode:

We all need a little R&R, Josh Allen included.

The Bills quarterback broke down some changes he has made to his offseason regiment over the past few years.

We’ve seen Allen taking part in plenty of golf during that time, but he does save room for… nothing.

To each their own the QB said. For him and his game, the best offseason activity is just to chill out.

Allen thinks the most important thing he can do when it’s not football season is to allow his body time to repair and get healthy, as he even goes as far as doing minimal working out until the start of spring practices.

Allen explained his offseason regiment via the Barstool Sports clip below:

Bills’ Josh Allen has eye on being ‘the guy that wins from the pocket’

Josh Allen, pocket passer now?

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

Buffalo Bills fans hold their breath whenever quarterback Josh Allen takes a hit. Over the course of his career, both general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott have commented on Allen taking some pretty serious knocks.

“In truth, Josh has always known it,” Beane said in May. “That’s where it comes back to me, making sure I provide him the protection up front and the weapons to let these guys make the plays.”

To date, Allen has gotten up from most hits. However, he’s begun to change his tune this offseason. Even more so now.

Previously it felt as if Allen was just thinking of sliding more. Get on the move but just avoid taking a shot.

Speaking with Barstool Sports, Allen went even further. He revealed there’s more of a focus on him becoming a pocket passer moving forward.

“I’m trying to transition to being the guy that wins from the pocket,” Allen said.

Could that signal a big change to Allen’s playing style? He has run the ball at least 102 times in each of the past four seasons and has surpassed 750 rushing yards the past two seasons.

Allen’s full thoughts on his potential new pocket-passing style can be found below:
