Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sums up the solar eclipse in one word

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sums up the solar eclipse in one word

The world is amazed by the rare sight of a solar eclipse that occurred Monday afternoon. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was one of the millions witnessing history as his family moment was recorded.

The NFL’s official X account reposted the video of Mahomes and his daughter, Sterling Skye, watching the eclipse. His wife, Brittany, shot the video, capturing the wholesome moment along with the QB’s surprised reaction. The reigning Super Bowl MVP and his daughter were wearing protective eyewear during the process.

“Dang” was all that Mahomes could say to describe the historic moment. Many in the media labeled Monday’s event the Great North American Eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, concealing the Sun’s image for anyone watching on Earth.

The continental US isn’t expected to see another total solar eclipse until 2044 and 2045. There is a low chance that Mahomes will still be playing around the time of the next one, but Chiefs fans hope there could be more Super Bowl titles before then.

Brittany Mahomes jumps the gun, reveals NWSL title game will be in Kansas City

The Current co-owner looks to have spilled the beans a little early

The NWSL championship game will apparently be held in Kansas City this year, with the announcement coming from an unexpected source: Brittany Mahomes.

Mahomes, the co-founder of the Kansas City Current, appeared on SportsCenter on Saturday alongside her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and fellow Current co-owner Patrick Mahomes.

The pair were marking the opening match at CPKC Stadium, the first stadium built specifically for a NWSL team, which the Current would go on to win 5-4 in a wild NWSL opener.

Not only will the first game of the NWSL season be held at the new venue, it appears the last game will too. Though the NWSL has not made any announcement, Brittany seemed to spill the beans during her appearance on SportsCenter.

Asked what a dream season for the Current would look like, she replied: “A championship, let’s go. Right here at home, we’re hosting it this year so to bring it home here would be awesome.”

The “announcement” looks to have been several months early, at least judging by last year. The NWSL did not announce that San Diego would host the 2023 championship game until July.

Will Swift attend a Current game?

The conversation would later turn to the prospect of pop megastar Taylor Swift potentially making it out to CPKC Stadium at some point this year.

Swift, of course, has been spending lots of time in Kansas City recently due to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. She has also struck up a friendship with Brittany while supporting Kelce on the field with the Super Bowl champions.

“We might get her here at some point,” Patrick said. “She’s a busy woman and Travis is a busy guy, so maybe during the season or something like that we’ll get her out to a KC Current game. She loves supporting Kansas City just like we do. I’m sure Brittany can nudge her and get her here pretty easily.”

Brittany agreed: “That’s definitely on me. I will work on it.”

Patrick, Brittany Mahomes attended opening day at new KC Current stadium

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany attended opening day at the new stadium of the KC Current soccer team.

The NWSL’s Kansas City Current officially opened their new CPKC Stadium on Saturday with a 5-4 victory over the Portland Thorns. The stadium is the first in the world to be built for women’s professional sports.

Many attended the historic event, but probably none with the same vested interest as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany, the team’s owners. The power couple was front and center, greeting fans entering the brand-new stadium.

“This is history, this is incredible, and for you guys to show up for these women and their own stadium is amazing,” Brittany said to the excited crowd before the game’s kickoff.

Patrick kept the energy high as he grabbed the microphone and led a loud “Let’s go KC” chant, much to the fans’ delight.

In January 2023, the Current announced that Patrick had joined his wife Brittany in the club’s ownership group. The NWSL club is Patrick’s third ownership stake in a Kansas City-based team, alongside the Kansas City Royals and Sporting KC. He is the first active NFL player to have an ownership stake in an NWSL club.

Brittany Mahomes convinced Post Malone to wear a Chiefs jacket during the afterparty and fans loved it

Post Malone was such a good sport.

Fresh off their second straight Super Bowl title, the Chiefs didn’t have to go far to find the party scene in Las Vegas. The team left Allegiant Stadium and arrived up the Strip at Zouk Nightclub for an afterparty that included performances from The Chainsmokers and Post Malone.

Post Malone was even willing to abandon his Cowboys fandom for one song.

Video from the afterparty showed Brittany Mahomes coming down to the stage to convince Post Malone to trade in his Cowboys jacket for a Chiefs one. It took some convincing — he really wanted to rep his team — but we can see Post agreeing to it for one song.

After all, it was the Chiefs’ party. He had to look the part.

Fans on Twitter/X and the fans at Zouk all loved the effort from Mahomes and Post’s willingness to don the jacket. She might have gotten Post Malone on the Chiefs bandwagon.

Taylor Swift, Brittany Mahomes and Cara Delevingne celebrated the Chiefs win with an NYC dinner together

Next up: Presumably a trip to Baltimore for the next Chiefs playoff game.

If you were wondering where Taylor Swift was for the recent taping of an epic New Heights podcast between Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce, she wasn’t around in Kansas City.

Nope, she’s up in New York City, where she was spotted with Brittany Mahomes and Cara Delevingne having dinner in downtown Manhattan. Of course Mahomes was at Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs win over the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs as she cheered on Patrick Mahomes, but Delevingne was there too as a guest of Swift’s.

So it’s kind of a fitting end to the week and perhaps a look ahead to Sunday, when they’ll presumably travel (maybe Delevingne too?) to Baltimore to see if the Chiefs can make it to a second straight Super Bowl and third of the last four.

Taylor Swift, Donna Kelce and Brittany Mahomes did a Swag Surf dance together during the Chiefs’ playoff win

There were plenty of good vibes to spare despite the cold weather at Arrowhead Stadium.

While it was historically chilly at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday night, it surely wasn’t too cold to Swag Surf.

Taylor Swift joined with all of the Kansas City Chiefs fans for a celebratory Swag Surf dance as Kansas City topped the Miami Dolphins, 26-7, in the first round of the AFC playoffs.

The Fast Life Yungstaz song “Swag Surfin'” has taken on particular significance for the Chiefs, and Swift joined with Travis Kelce’s mom Donna Kelce and Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany Mahomes to do the Swag Surf dance with the rest of Chiefs Kingdom as they counted down the minutes until the inevitable win.

While the Chiefs aren’t the Super Bowl favorites right now, they have to be excited with how this first playoff game went.

Hey, that looks like a fun time to us in the freezing weather!

Swift seemed to be having quite a time as she cheered on Travis Kelce on the field, even if it was dern cold outside.

Taylor Swift, Arrowhead fans turn Kansas City into Party City

The party was on at Arrowhead as the Chiefs were drubbing the Dolphins

The frigid conditions didn’t matter late Saturday with the Kansas City Chiefs about to dispatch the Miami Dolphins.

Arrowhead Stadium turned into Party City and Taylor Swift, Donna Kelce and Brittany Mahomes were having a rocking good time with the crowd that remained,

Earlier, Swift was singing with the crowd.

Patrick Mahomes has the correct Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes secret handshake take

Patrick Mahomes knows his wife and Taylor Swift had the best handshake.

It was the not-so-secret secret handshake we saw back in October: Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes, celebrating during a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers with some coordinated hand slaps and a bump.

It was awesome, even if we haven’t seen it since between the singer and her friend, and in a new clip from Patrick Mahomes’ interview with CBS’s Nate Burleson, the Kansas City Chiefs QB had the correct take about the handshake: “I mean, their handshake is better than me and Travis’s! Me and Travis need to work on a handshake and maybe we can debut that on Christmas and we can so whose handshake is better.”

Check out his comments at around the 4:05 mark:

Fan video shows Taylor Swift dancing and hugging with Brittany Mahomes

Another Chiefs game, another delightful shot of Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes dancing.

It’s becoming a tradition of sorts at Kansas City Chiefs games: When Taylor Swift is there and she’s sitting with Brittany Mahomes, we see them embracing and dancing together and it’s delightful. They’ve become fast friends while Swift has dated Travis Kelce.

After we’ve seen videos like these, we saw another fan snap of the two. We have no context here — maybe it was after a Kelce catch, maybe it was just taking in the moment, maybe in response to the haters at Gillette Stadium, who knows?

But fans enjoyed it as usual and there’s even a fun joke made out of it involving Kelce:

As good as those “Dads, Brads and Chads” cookies must have been.

Brittany Mahomes rips refs for Chiefs call with a sarcastic 1-word Instagram Stories post

She wasn’t happy with the call that cost the Chiefs the game, just like Patrick Mahomes.

Brittany Mahomes didn’t hold back, just like her husband, Patrick Mahomes, did after an offsides call cost the Kansas City Chiefs a touchdown, one that might have led to a win over the Buffalo Bills.

As you’ll see below, she posted a video of a referee on the field at Arrowhead Stadium, doing a close-up of the zebra while giving it a one-word caption: “MVP.”

Obviously that’s very sarcastic and sums up how she and other Chiefs fans might feel about the costly offsides call … but to be fair, Kadarius Toney was offsides. So there’s that.

Here’s the post Mahomes put up:
