I’ve got the Braves (-184) taking this series on Sunday, but not at those odds. I’ll take my wager to the run line.

BET BRAVES -1.5 (-122).

The Rockies have struck out the 2nd-most times in the MLB this season, nearly 10 times per game. Schwellenbach has nearly a 10 K/9 and has notched double-digit strikeouts in each of his last 2 starts. This would be a game I’d target the Over on Spencer’s K prop (+130 for 7+; +500 for  9+).

The Braves are 20-12 against lefties this season and hit .253 as a team against them. Freeland has not fared well against Atlanta in his career, has not beaten them in nearly 6 years.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 10.5 (+100).

I know that this series has gone Over this total in each of the 1st 2 games, but I’m seeing a downturn in runs scored in the series finale. The Under has hit in Schwellenbach’s last 10 starts and believe it or not, it’s happened in 3 of Freeland’s last 4 starts.

I like Schwellenbach to keep the Rockies offense in check while the Braves take care of business against Freeland on Sunday afternoon.

PASS.

I instinctually want to take the Braves because they are the better team, but the fact is they stink right now. The Rockies aren’t much better, which makes this game hard to handicap.

What makes this even tougher to pick is this pitching matchup. You’ve got 2 young inexperienced arms facing off. These 2 have a combined 6 career starts.

All that being said, I’m going to leave this wager alone and look to the run line and total for a bet.

Run line/Against the spread

BET ROCKIES +1.5 (-105).

While I don’t know if the Rockies will win this game outright, I like them on the run line. Gordon has a bit more starting experience and had his best outing of his career against the Padres in his last start. He also has the advantage of pitching in front of the home crowd. Gordon hasn’t had a chance to pitch at Coors since July 7.

The Rockies are also playing above .500 baseball at home since the All-Star break.

Over/Under

PASS.

I really want to take the Over being that it’s at Coors Field against 2 very young arms, but the trends are scaring me off of it. The teams are 3-3 against the Over in their last 6 meetings.

Atlanta is 5-5 against the Over in their last 10 and Colorado is 4-6 against the Over in their last 10. The Under has hit in Gordon’s last 2 starts and the Under hit in Holmes last start.
