Season series: Braves lead 2-0

The Giants lost 6-5 to the Braves on Saturday despite multi-hit performances from 1B Lamonte Wade Jr., OF Michael Conforto, 3B J.D. Davis, and C Blake Sabol. San Francisco has lost 8 of its last 10 games and is now 12 games behind the 1st-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.

In Saturday’s 1-run victory, the Braves got HRs from OF Ronald Acuna and OF Eddie Rosario. Atlanta is on a 5-game winning streak and has extended its lead in the NL East to 13 1/2 games.

Giants at Braves projected starters

RHP Jakob Junis vs. LHP Max Fried

Junis (3-3, 4.10 ERA) makes his 3rd start and 33rd appearance. He has a 1.37 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 10.7 K/9 in 68 innings.

  • Last start: No decision, 4 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 7 K in a 7-0 home win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday
  • Road stats: 3-2, 3.93 ERA (34 1/3 IP, 15 ER) in 15 relief appearances

Giants at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Giants 3

Moneyline

The Braves should extend their winning streak to 6 games on Sunday, but taking their moneyline at the current odds (-250) isn’t advised. PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Giants were the lean when the line was +2.5 (-130), but the Braves -1.5 (-135) doesn’t seem worth it, although Atlanta is fully capable of winning by multiple runs. Junis is only making his 3rd start this season, but the bullpen of the Giants is tied for the 5th-lowest wOBA (.296) allowed.

Over/Under

UNDER 9 (-110) is the play as Fried should have success against a Giants team that leans on plenty of lefties in their lineup. Meanwhile, it’s always risky betting an Under when the Braves are involved.

The Under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall.

San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (79-42) welcome the San Francisco Giants (64-58) to Truist Park Saturday. First pitch is set for 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Giants vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 1-0.

The Braves won the opener of the 3-game series 4-0 Friday. Atlanta has won 4 straight games and is 8-2 over its last 10. The Braves sit atop the NL East and are 13.5 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies. They are 41-20 at home.

San Francisco has fallen off as of late, winning just 3 of its last 10. It is 29-30 at home. The Giants rank 2nd in the NL West, 11 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Giants at Braves projected starters

RHP Logan Webb vs. RHP Yonny Chirinos

Webb (9-9, 3.26 ERA) makes his 26th start. He has a 1.07 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9 and 8.7 K/9 through 163 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 8 2/3 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K in a 3-2 home win over the Texas Rangers Sunday
  • 2023 road stats: 4-5, 4.52 ERA in 77 2/3 IP through 13 starts

Chirinos (5-5, 5.22 ERA) makes his 9th start and 20th appearance. He has a 1.36 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 5.4 K/9 through 81 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 2/3 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 5 K in a 7-6 road loss against the New York Mets Sunday
  • 2023 home stats: 2-2, 6.25 ERA in 31 2/3 IP through 5 starts (8 appearances)

Giants at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Giants 3

Moneyline

BET BRAVES (-120).

Atlanta has been on fire as of late, and it is at home where it is 40-19 as a favorite. It beat the Giants 4-0 to open the series and has gone 7 of its last 8.

While Webb has been solid for San Fran through most of the season, he hasn’t been as potent on the road this season, which will be an issue against the team with the most runs in the MLB and 2nd-most hits. The Giants are below .500 on the road and just 3-7 over their last 10.

Considering the trends for both teams and Webb’s road splits, take BRAVES (-120).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

If there is value, it is still for the home side. San Fran has lost 4 of its last 6 games, all of which came by more than 1 run. It was held scoreless in the opener as well.

Atlanta is 31-28 on the run line as a home favorite. Nonetheless, I prefer the safer moneyline value.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 9.5 (-115).

The Giants are 1-3 O/U in Webb’s last 4 starts. They have gone Under in 3 straight games and have scored just 10 runs in their last 4 games, 3 of which they scored 2 or fewer.

While the Braves’ bats have been unstoppable this season, they have gone Under in 3 straight games and have also scored 5 or fewer in each. They are 3-5 O/U over their last 8 games.

Back UNDER 9.5 (-115).

San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The San Francisco Giants (64-57) and Atlanta Braves (78-42) open up a 3-game set at Truist Park Friday. First pitch is at 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Giants vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Atlanta won 4-3 last year

The Giants enter this one on a 3-7 slide as they have fallen to 10 1/2 games out in the NL West. They still hold the 2nd NL Wild Card spot as they’re 1 1/2 games up on the Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds. San Francisco is just 10-12 against the NL East.

The Braves are coming off a 3-game sweep over the New York Yankees. They’ve won 8 of 10 and are 14-6 over the last 20 games as they continue to be a juggernaut in the NL. Atlanta is 40-20 at home on the season.

Giants at Braves projected starters

RHP Alex Cobb vs. RHP Spencer Strider

Cobb (6-4, 3.62 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.37 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 8.1 K/9 in 121 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 1/3 IP, 6 ER, 9 H, 2 BB, 3 K Saturday against Texas Rangers
  • 3 career starts vs. Braves: 2-0, 1.29 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 19 K in 21 IP

Strider (13-4, 3.75 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 14.0 K/9 in 139 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 6 K Saturday against New York Mets
  • 2 career starts vs. Giants: 0-1, 8.31 ERA, 1.96 WHIP, 13 K in 8 2/3 IP

Giants at Braves odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Giants +180 (bet $100 to win $180) | Braves -225 (bet $225 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Giants +1.5 (-105) | Braves -1.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Giants at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Giants 3

Moneyline

The Braves can beat you 21-3 or 2-0, and they are rightly massive favorites here. There’s no point in risking more than twice your return on their ML, however.

PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves’ last 8 wins have come by a combined 49 runs with just one of those victories coming by a single run. The Giants are just 27-31 on the RL away from the Bay and they strike out the 4th-most in baseball — and that’s going to be a problem with the MLB leader in strikeouts on the mound.

Take the BRAVES -1.5 (-115).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Braves are 6-4 O/U over the last 10, and the Giants are 5-5. The Over is just 3-7 over the last 10 meetings between the teams. Cobb has allowed 11 ER in 9 2/3 IP over his last 2 starts, and Strider hit a bump in the road before dominating the Mets last time out.

Still, I’m more inclined to LEAN UNDER 8.5 (-105) because this total has cashed just 3 times in their last 10 meetings.

San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The San Francisco Giants (37-29) meet the Atlanta Braves (39-29) Tuesday for the 2nd of their 4-game series at Truist Park with the first pitch scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Giants vs. Braves odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Atlanta won the series opener 2-1 Monday with a walk-off RBI single by Braves IF Orlando Arcia in the bottom of the 9th. Tuesday’s meeting was their 1st of the year.

Giants at Braves projected starters

RHP Anthony DeSclafani vs. RHP Spencer Strider

DeSclafani (0-1, 6.38 ERA) is making his 4th start of the season for San Francisco. He’s been on the IL since late April with right ankle inflammation.

  • Last start: Lost 6-2 April 21 at the New York Mets with 5 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 2 HR, 1 BB and 4 K.
  • 2021 vs. the Braves: 0-2 with a 5.00 ERA (9 IP, 5 ER), 12 H, 3 HR, 0 BB and 10 K in 2 starts.

Strider is 3-2 with a 2.45 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 4.3 BB/9 and 13.9 K/9 in 44 IP over 4 starts and 11 relief appearances in his first full year in the MLB.

  • Last start: Won 8-2 Wednesday at the Washington Nationals with 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 1 H, 1 HR, 2 BB and 11 K.
  • This is Strider’s 1st start vs. the Giants.

Giants at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Giants 4

Money line

RISK 1 unit on the BRAVES (-175) instead of betting to 1 unit because of their price. But, Atlanta has a decisive edge in the pitching department and has seen significant sharp line movement.

Strider has been fantastic so far in The Show and has nasty stuff. He grades in the 88th percentile or better in expected ERA, expected batting average, wOBA and slugging percentage, whiff rate and K%, per Statcast. Also, Atlanta’s bullpen is 3rd in ERA, 4th in WHIP and 1st in FIP, per FanGraphs.

Finally, close to 90% of the money is on the Braves and their ML has been increased from a -151 opener due to a flood of sharp money (according to Pregame.com). The total bets made a nearly split between the 2 sides but the sharper bettors are staking Atlanta.

If your standard unit is $100 then “flat-BET” that on the BRAVES (-175) to earn a $57.14 profit instead of betting $175 to win $100.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Strider’s lone issue in the big leagues has been his command and San Francisco’s lineup doesn’t chase pitches outside of the zone and has a high BB% vs. right-handed pitching. In fact, the Giants hit right-handed pitching much better than the Braves making Atlanta’s RL a no-go Tuesday.

Over/Under

LEAN to the OVER 9.5 (+110) only because the Over 9.5 (-135) appears to be the sharper side and Atlanta’s ML is my favorite wager in this game.

However, the Braves are 19-11-2 O/U as home favorites, Truist Park is a hitter-friendly venue (7th in park factor) and the weather conditions are hitter-friendly with forecasts of temperatures in the low-90s and a light breeze out to center field.

Giants at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 4, Braves 3

Money line

The Giants have been on a little roll, but not like the one the Braves have been on. The Braves had a 14-game win streak that was snapped in their last series and have won 15 of 17 games while the Giants have won 7 of their last 9 contests.

Both teams are 9-4 with tonight’s starters on the mound.

The Giants are 18-14 on the road and the Braves are 20-14 at home.

Atlanta is 12-14 against teams with winning records, while the Giants are 17-15.

I am going to LEAN GIANTS (+125).

Run line/Against the spread

The Giants are 32-33 ATS overall this season but 19-13 ATS on the road.

The Braves are 36-31 ATS on the season and 15-19 ATS at home.

Fried allowed 4 runs in 5 2/3 innings in his last outing while Webb threw 7 scoreless frames in his last start.

Take the GIANTS +1.5 (-170).

Over/Under

This will have the feel of a playoff matchup despite that it’s still June with two aces on the mound.

Four of the Giants’ last 5 games and 6 of the last 8 have had 7 or fewer runs.

The Braves, though, have had 8 or more runs in 6 of their last 8 contests.

Take UNDER 7.5 (-120).
