Potential first-round pick Jaylon Tyson was among the prospects who worked out with the Trail Blazers on Thursday.

Potential first-round pick Jaylon Tyson was among the six prospects who attended a predraft workout with the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, the team announced.

Tyson was named to the All-Pac-12 first team this past season after averaging 19.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals on 36% shooting from 3-point range as a junior at Cal. His 607 points were the seventh-most by a Cal player in a single season.

The 6-foot-7 guard registered 17 20-point games, the most by a Golden Bear since Jerome Randle in the 2009-10 season. He reached that mark in six consecutive games to start conference play, the longest streak in program history since 1997.

Joining Tyson in the workout on Thursday were West Virginia guard RaeQuan Battle, UCLA forward Adem Bona, Kansas State forward Arthur Kaluma, Kentucky forward Ugonna Onyenso and Florida guard Will Richard.

The Trail Blazers figure to be very active in the predraft process because they have four draft picks in the top 40 (7, 14, 34, 40). The organization will likely cast a wide net and bring in as many prospects as possible for workouts and interviews.

The 2024 NBA draft will take place June 26-27 in New York City.

Alabama MBB reaches out to Creighton transfer Arthur Kaluma

After withdrawing from the 2023 NBA draft, Creighton transfer Arthur Kaluma has already received interest from Alabama among other programs.

The Alabama coaching staff has reportedly reached out to Creighton transfer Arthur Kaluma. Kaluma entered his name into the transfer portal a few weeks ago while still maintaining his draft eligibility. On Wednesday, Kaluma withdrew his name from the NBA draft and will look to transfer to another school.

Kaluma will be one of the top available players in the portal. Several programs that have reached out to Kaluma are Kentucky, Texas, and Texas Tech.

Kaluma spent the past two seasons with the Bluejays. The native of Glendale, Arizona was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He chose Creighton over other programs like UNLV, Kansas, and Arizona.

In two seasons in Omaha, Kaluma averaged 11.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He also shot 43.3% from the floor and 29.1% from distance.

With Alabama losing several key players in its frontcourt, the Tide will likely turn its attention to Kaluma. Kaluma would be a very viable option to play the three or four next season in Nate Oats’ system.

After next season, Kaluma will likely project as a late first-round pick or an early second-round pick.

His ability to knock down jumpers from the mid-range and rebound would make him a very valuable asset for the Tide next season.

Brothers Adam Seiko and Arthur Kaluma shared a sweet hug after San Diego State topped Creighton in the Elite Eight

San Diego State’s Adam Seiko and Creighton’s Arthur Kaluma shared a sweet hug after the Elite Eight game.

San Diego State senior guard Adam Seiko and Creighton sophomore guard Arthur Kaluma shared a hug after a hard-fought Elite Eight game between their two teams.

The two siblings have now faced off in two March Madness games, but Seiko’s team defeating Kaluma’s team this year didn’t stop a really sweet moment of brotherly love after the contest.

Seiko’s San Diego State topped Kaluma’s Creighton, 57-56, on Sunday with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

It’s the first time in SDSU history that the school has made the prestigious final ranking of men’s NCAA tournament teams.

However, family always comes first, as Seiko and Kaluma didn’t miss out an opportunity to support each other after the final horn.

That’s a really cool moment between two siblings and excellent college basketball players who found themselves in quite a moment.

After Kaluma’s Creighton got to advance past Seiko’s SDSU last year in the tournament’s first round, it’s now Seiko’s turn to have Kaluma cheering him on in the stands.

Brothers Arthur Kaluma and Adam Seiko will face off again in a second straight March Madness clash

The Elite Eight’s Sunday clash between Creighton and San Diego State will feature a sibling rivalry.

Creighton sophomore forward Arthur Kaluma and San Diego State senior guard Adam Seiko will put their sibling rivalry to the test one again in the 2023 men’s NCAA tournament.

After facing each other in the first round of the 2022 men’s NCAA tournament, the two will square off in the Elite Eight on Sunday for a chance at the Final Four.

No. 6 Creighton and No. 5 San Diego State will try to settle who wins the South Region and gets to compete for a national title.

Last year, Kaluma and Creighton topped Seiko and San Diego State in overtime, 72-69, to advance past the tournament’s first round. This year, Seiko’s San Diego State will try to return the favor.

The elder Seiko recently praised Kaluma’s growth and talked about the potential for Sunday’s family clash with the Final Four on the line.

“You know, it’ll just be a surreal feeling,” Seiko told Hurrdat Sports about a possible Elite Eight matchup with Kaluma. “You know, something I can’t even put into words, really.”

The two brothers offered each other some social media support ahead of their Sweet 16 victories.

Creighton head coach Greg McDermott very much has a bias as to which sibling he wants to continue to play for the title.
