Meet Creighton’s Mason Miller, the son of a 2-time NBA championship winner

If Creighton’s Mason Miller seems familiar, it’s because you remember his dad’s NBA days.

If you watched the Creighton men’s basketball team defeat Akron in the first round of the 2024 NCAA tournament, you got to watch the son of an NBA legend in action.

Mason Miller, a sophomore forward for Creighton, is the son of former NBA player Mike Miller, a 17-year retired veteran who won two NBA titles with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013.

The elder Miller played college ball at Florida before being drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2000. He coached Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee, to a TSAA Class AAA state title in his only season as a coach, where Mason Miller played for his dad before joining Creighton.

Now, the younger Miller will keep playing on in the 2024 men’s NCAA tournament with Creighton, where he scored 10 points for the Bluejays in that team’s opening-round victory.

*This post previously stated that Mike Miller was still the coach of Houston High. He left after the 2020-21 season.

A ref needed a replacement shoe after blowing out a sneaker during the Creighton-Akron game

We haven’t seen a shoe mishap like this since Zion Williamson.

During the first day of March Madness, a college basketball official had a mishap involving his sneakers.

While officiating an opening round matchup between Creighton and Akron, much like Zion Williamson did during his college basketball days in 2019, referee Kelly Pfeifer blew out one of his shoes. Even though this seems like a nightmare scenario for most, it ended up working out for everyone involved.

The referee was able to receive some help from standby official Adam Flore. Fortunately, the backup ref and Pfeifer happen to wear the same size sneakers and it was a quick fix:

Even though only one of Pfeifer’s shoes was broken, Flore handed over both of his sneakers so that the referee had a matching pair.

That is excellent teamwork from the referees to get a quick solution to this strange problem.

UConn’s Dan Hurley seemingly threatened to knock out a fan after massive loss to Creighton

If true, this was not Dan Hurley’s most shining moment.

The UConn men’s basketball team is no longer ranked No. 1, and head coach Dan Hurley had a very rough night. Newly released footage of Hurley walking off the court following a stunning loss to Creighton shows him exchanging heated words with a fan. Lip-readers think he was saying he would “knock the fan out.”

On Tuesday, the Creighton Bluejays took down the UConn men’s basketball team, and it wasn’t even close. The Bluejays were up 14 at the half and shot over 50 percent from 3-point range, making it hard for UConn to recover. The Huskies’ 14-game winning streak went POOF, and their road record against ranked opponents dropped to 0-21 all-time.

The win was so huge that fans were seemingly shouting colorful phrases at Uconn head coach Dan Hurley mid-game (Warning: NSFW language). To add salt to an already festering wound, as Hurley was leaving the court following the loss, footage captured by people in the building shows him having a heated exchange with a fan in the crowd.

Lip-readers think he told the fan, “I will knock you out.”

Update: Dan Hurley tweeted out a Game of Thrones meme possibly referencing his behavior during Tuesday night’s matchup and UConn’s head-scratching loss.

How to watch Alabama at Creighton on Saturday night

Where will you be watching from?

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball are currently in the middle of a brutal three-game non-conference stretch against some of the top programs in the country.

Last weekend the Tide dropped a tough one in Canada against the Purdue Boilermakers and now Alabama will make the trip to Omaha, NE for a matchup with the No. 8 ranked Creighton Bluejays.

Taking down a good Creighton team on the road will not be an easy task but a win on Saturday night on the road would be a massive boost for Oats and the Tide who have lost three out of their last five games.

Below is everything you need to know to catch all of the action between the Tide and Bluejays.

San Diego State coach Brian Dutcher did a celebratory trust fall after punching ticket to Final Four

When you’re a coach and you make the Final Four, you do a trust fall into the arms of your players.

After his team punched a ticket to the 2023 men’s NCAA tournament Final Four, San Diego State head coach Brian Dutcher decided to put ultimate faith in his guys yet again.

This time, it came on a trust fall after cutting down the nets for winning the South Region.

Indeed, Dutcher’s SDSU topped Creighton, 57-56, in Sunday’s Elite Eight game to grab one of the spots in this year’s Final Four.

It’s the school’s very first Final Four appearance, one that came with plenty of drama during its nail-biting finish.

Dutcher trusted his team to close things out when the game went down to the wire, and he trusted his players to catch him as he fell into their arms off the ladder he went up to cut down the net.

Dutcher threw his hands up and fell backwards into the arms of his players, who caught their coach and cheered their coach on during the postgame celebration.

Brothers Adam Seiko and Arthur Kaluma shared a sweet hug after San Diego State topped Creighton in the Elite Eight

San Diego State’s Adam Seiko and Creighton’s Arthur Kaluma shared a sweet hug after the Elite Eight game.

San Diego State senior guard Adam Seiko and Creighton sophomore guard Arthur Kaluma shared a hug after a hard-fought Elite Eight game between their two teams.

The two siblings have now faced off in two March Madness games, but Seiko’s team defeating Kaluma’s team this year didn’t stop a really sweet moment of brotherly love after the contest.

Seiko’s San Diego State topped Kaluma’s Creighton, 57-56, on Sunday with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

It’s the first time in SDSU history that the school has made the prestigious final ranking of men’s NCAA tournament teams.

However, family always comes first, as Seiko and Kaluma didn’t miss out an opportunity to support each other after the final horn.

That’s a really cool moment between two siblings and excellent college basketball players who found themselves in quite a moment.

After Kaluma’s Creighton got to advance past Seiko’s SDSU last year in the tournament’s first round, it’s now Seiko’s turn to have Kaluma cheering him on in the stands.
