Johni Broome named to AP All-American Third-Team

Broome is joined by San Diego State forward Jaedon LeDee, Creighton guard Baylor Scheierman, Illinois guard Terrence Shannon Jr., and Arizona guard Caleb Love on the AP All-American Third Team.

Auburn forward [autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag] has had himself quite the junior season on the Plains. That junior season became even more impressive on Tuesday, as the star was named to the AP All-American Third Team.

Broome is joined by San Diego State forward Jaedon LeDee, Creighton guard Baylor Scheierman, Illinois guard Terrence Shannon Jr., and Arizona guard Caleb Love.

Broome could match up with his fellow Third-Team forward in the March Madness Round of 32 if Auburn and SDSU avoid upsets. Terrance Shannon Jr.’s Illinois Fighting Illini is also a possible opponent in the East Region.

The dominant forward is one of three SEC players named to the All-American teams. Alabama‘s Mark Sears earned Second-Team honors, while SEC Player of the Year Dalton Knecht found himself on the First Team.

After a dominant SEC Tournament performance which saw Auburn’s best player collect two double-doubles in 3 games, Broome is now up to 16.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game this season.

He can improve on those numbers in the NCAA Tournament, although he’ll have his work cut out for him against NBA-level prospect Danny Wolf in the first round.

Four Tigers named AP Preseason All-Americans

Clemson is well-represented in the AP Preseason All-American teams.

The Associated Press preseason All-America team was announced Monday, with multiple Tigers making the cut as some of the best players in college football.

From top to bottom, the Clemson football roster has talent, and expectations are high for the program in 2023. To achieve their goals, each of these preseason All-Americans will need to perform at a high level and prove why they earned their spot here in the first place.

Four Tigers made AP Preseason All-American teams, with three on defense and one on offense. Here is a look at each of these four Tigers and what team they made.

Noah Sewell is named to the AP preseason All-American First Team

Noah Sewell is just one of three Pac-12 players to be named to the preseason First-Team All-American list by the Associated Press.

It’s assumed by nearly everyone out there that Oregon linebacker Noah Sewell is bound for a special season in 2022.

He was named to the Polynesian Player of the Year watch list just the other day and now Sewell has been named as a preseason first-team all-American by the Associated Press.

Sewell is one of just three Pac-12 players to earn preseason first-team honors and one of six to land on either the first or second team. The other two first-teamers in the conference are USC Trojans in offensive lineman Andrew Voorhies and wide receiver Jordan Addison.

Sewell goes into this season as a third-year junior and during his career, he has racked up 159 total tackles with 15 tackles for loss and six sacks in 21 career games played. He ranked second in the Pac-12 and led all FBS freshmen in 2021 with a career-high 114 tackles, while also adding career-highs of 8.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.

He’ll get to show out right away this year as the No. 11 ranked Ducks will open the 2022 season on Sept. 3 against No. 3 Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game.

Wisconsin OL Josh Seltzner named an AP All-American

The Badger OL earns AP All-American honors

Wisconsin offensive lineman Josh Seltzner earned AP All-American honors on Monday.

The Badger senior started in 10 of Wisconsin’s 12 contests throughout the 2021 season, while helping to lead a turnaround in the offensive line during the second half of the year. The Columbus, Wisconsin native joins Leo Chenal as the two Badgers named to AP All-America teams. Seltzner was named to the AP All-America Third Team as an offensive guard.

Seltzner joined Andrew Vorhees (USC) as the guards named to the third team. Ohio State’s Thayer Munford earned second-team honors as an offensive guard.

Here is a look at the entire offensive squad:

Wisconsin LB Leo Chenal named an AP All-American

Leo Chenal caps off an incredible season with a well-deserved honor

After a phenomenal season for Badgers linebacker Leo Chenal, the awards have been rolling in.

The latest honor saw Wisconsin’s defensive leader named to the 2021 AP All-America Second Team.

Chenal finished the regular season with a 87 total tackles, 7 sacks, and a pair of forced fumbles all while missing the first two games of the season due to COVID-19.

Will Anderson, Jr.  (Alabama), Nakobe Dean (Georgia), and Devin Lloyd (Utah) earned the first-team linebacker nods. Chenal was the lone defensive player from Wisconsin on any of the three All-America teams. Badger offensive guard Josh Seltzner earned a third-team All America nod.

Kayvon Thibodeaux, Verone McKinley III named AP first team All-Americans

Kayvon Thibodeaux and Verone Kinley III become the seventh and eighth Ducks to be named AP First-Team All-Americans.

With all of Oregon football success, something like this doesn’t happen very often.

Kayvon Thibodeaux and Verone McKinley III became the seventh and eighth Oregon Duck football players in history to be named First-Team All-Americans by the Associated Press.

They also became the second pair of teammates to receive the honor in the same season. Marcus Mariota and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu were honored as such in 2014.

Both Thibodeaux and McKinley were named First-Team All-Pac-12 last week. Thibodeaux led the Ducks with seven sacks and McKinley led the conference with six interceptions.

Thibodeaux has already announced that he will not be participating in the Alamo Bowl and is expected to be an early first-round NFL draft pick. So far, McKinley has not stated his plans for the bowl game and he’s good to go to play against Oklahoma for now.

Texas running back Bijan Robinson named AP preseason All-American

The national media are beginning to buy into the Bijan Robinson hype as well.

Before spring practice even begun, everybody knew who the best player on Texas’ roster was. It only took a few games for Bijan Robinson to show why he was rated the No. 1 running back in the country as a recruit.

Averaging 8.2 yards per carry, in general, is an insane stat. Doing it as a true freshman is astronomical.

Naturally, a lot of hype is going to carry over into Robinson’s sophomore season. With Steve Sarkisian taking over the offense, his workload is going to be closer than his 86 total carries from last year. Anywhere between 20 to 30 touches, the head coach said.

People from the national media are beginning to buy into the Robinson hype as well. On Monday, the running back was named a preseason All-American by the AP. He joined fellow conference member Breece Hall as the two running backs.

Others to note within the first team

Of course, Oklahoma was going to get their share within the first team. Spencer Rattler holds down the fort at quarterback, while Nick Bonitto gets in as a linebacker.

Iowa State got a lot of love as well on both sides of the ball. Already mentioning Hall, tight end Charlie Kolar beat out Texas A&M’s Jalen Wydermyer.

Linebacker Mike Rose is the singular Cyclone defensive player to be named to the first team.

Second team

West Virginia is the only other Big 12 school to feature in the preseason list. Defensive end Dante Stills was the only conference player to be named to the second team.
