In simple terms, Fauci, again, told …

In simple terms, Fauci, again, told Krzyzewski we need to stay at home if they want COVID-19 to be a thing of the past. “The [battle with coronavirus] is going to go on for several weeks, Coach K,” Fauci said. “The issue is that we have a large country and we have different metropolitan areas.” “If you want to do the basketball analogy, that right now we have a team that’s a very powerful team, and that’s the virus, and what we need to do is that we’ve got to play a full-court press. We can’t let them get the ball on the ground to dribble. We’ve just got to be all over them,” he added. “I mean, that’s what we’ve really got to do, because that’s the only tool we have right now.”

Fauci also told Krzyzewski that we are …

Fauci also told Krzyzewski that we are “not even at halftime,” and that the only way to truly combat the coronavirus is to do everything we can as a nation to avoid contact with other human beings. “We are not yet at the point where we’re turning the corner and we’re coming around the bend and coming down as a country,” Fauci said later, a reference to flattening the curve.

Via 95.7 The Game:

I had a chance to talk to Bob Myers today. We were talking about some draft prep stuff, and I just said to Bob — ‘can you imagine have a better representative for our organization?’ Obviously, all-world player, one of the great’s of all time but just as a human being representing our organization — what he’s doing, what he’s done with his life outside of basketball. And what he’s doing right now in the midst of this crisis. You know, raising money raising awareness, feeding people is incredible. And I’m so glad he interviewed Fauci, and I’m looking forward to hearing it later.

Curry’s interview with Fauci covered a wide range of questions regarding the coronavirus. The nearly 30 minute Q&A had around 50,000 viewers that included President Barack Obama, Andre Iguodala, Common and Justin Bieber.

For nearly 28 minutes, Curry asked Fauci informed questions about COVID-19, testing and social distancing. Fauci gave precise answers to all of them. Fauci explained the difference between the flu and the coronavirus, which he considered “much more serious.” Although young people are not as vulnerable to COVID-19, Fauci argued they should still follow social distancing rules because of the rare chance they could become ill and the likely chance they could pass the virus to someone older. Fauci predicted that large events, including the NBA season, will not take place until “the country as a whole is turning that corner.”
