What Browns GM Andrew Berry has to say about Shedeur Sanders

Hear what Browns GM Andrew Berry has had to say on Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders:

There has been buzz about the Cleveland Browns and the potential selection of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders as the franchise’s new face, but ultimately, that decision will be made by general manager Andrew Berry.

His dad and head coach of Colorado, Deion Sanders, has already stated that he has spoken to the brass in Cleveland. He has indicated that he is fine with any of the three teams picking at the top of the 2025 NFL draft.

However, what does Berry think about Sanders as a quarterback? During his time in Mobile, Alabama at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, Berry spoke on the Colorado and potential future Cleveland quarterback:

“Shedeur is a really impressive young man… He’s poised, he’s calm, he’s smart and you can tell that he’s been raised by – quite honestly – a Hall of Fame dad. We’re going to get to know him even more over the course of the spring but he’s really impressive.”

It becomes a waiting game now as we still have three more weeks until the NFL Scouting Combine, where the top quarterbacks in Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward might not even participate. It is going to get noisy leading up to the draft.

Deion Sanders has already spoken highly of Browns quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave, a former teammate of his, and Sanders is an ideal scheme fit in Cleveland as they return to their wide zone identity. There are no barriers between the Browns drafting Sanders if they want to. Unless the Tennessee Titans take him first.

Deion Sanders creating more intrigue amongst Browns fans

Football legend Deion Sanders has no interest in stopping the Browns from drafting quarterback Shedeur Sanders

Deion Sanders has not stopped any links connecting his son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, to the Cleveland Browns.

Sanders has no interest in stopping the Browns from drafting quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Deion Sanders liked an Instagram post featuring general manager Andrew Berry’s statements at the Senior Bowl. Berry told the media the Browns don’t anticipate Deion Sanders to block the team from drafting his son. As previously reported, the post also included information that the Browns did not request Sanders to withdraw from the East-West Shrine Bowl practices.

The Sanders family has stated they won’t interfere in Shedeur’s draft process. Earlier this month, Deion Sanders Jr. went to X to refute rumors that Shedeur would refuse to play for the Browns or the New York Giants.

The Browns have a lot of infrastructure to help a young quarterback thrive. The Browns have rededicated themselves to their core offensive philosophies this offseason. The Browns promoted senior assistant Bill Musgrave to the quarterback coach. Musgrave is a longtime NFL coach and a former player. He played with Deion Sanders in San Francisco in 1994.

The Sanders family is incredibly supportive of sons Shedeur and Shilo as they enter the NFL draft. The family wants the best for both boys, but not enough to involve themselves in the draft process as many speculated. They most likely know that Shedeur has all the tools to succeed in the NFL.

Browns will have interesting choices with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns will have some interesting choices with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns fell apart throughout the 2024 season, dropping their final six games to finish 3-14. In many seasons, that would be bad enough to earn the top pick in the NFL draft, but this year it only merits the No. 2 spot for the Browns and GM Andrew Berry. The Tennessee Titans also finished 3-14 and earned the tie-break for the top spot, leaving the Browns picking second overall.

It’s hard to know what exactly the Titans will do with that top pick, but if Tennessee sticks at No. 1, they figure to at least strongly consider a quarterback. An offensive-minded head coach in Brian Callahan and the unreliability and spotty development of incumbent starter Will Levis make a quarterback at the top spot a very distinct probability.

Cleveland has a ton of needs, but — like Tennessee above them — none is more critical than quarterback. Deshaun Watson remains in injury-related limbo, only still on the roster because of an insanely expensive contract for the Browns to extract themselves from eating. Jameis Winston is a free agent, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe each proved they shouldn’t start above being a No. 3 option entering the offseason.

Shortly after their season ended, the Browns fired their offensive coordinator and OL coach. Those spots will need to be filled quickly so the organization can more accurately assess what players might no longer fit, or what schematic preference head coach Kevin Stefanski wants with his offense.

Expect a ton of Cleveland draft scrutiny on the presumptive top two QBs, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward from Miami. There is considerable debate about the merits of either prospect being taken by anyone that high in the draft, but QBs tend to rise regardless of merit–especially early (pre-Combine) in the draft process.

This will be the Browns’ first first-round pick since taking CB Greg Newsome in 2021, thanks to the Watson trade. Between the lack of high-end draft assets and some misses in the middle rounds from GM Berry and his scouting staff (Anthony Schwartz, David Bell, Cade York, Perrion Winfrey to name a few), the overall depth chart needs help.

That could portend a trade for additional picks, a more intriguing possibility if the Browns decide that the quarterback(s) are not to their appeal. The Giants and Jets are also picking high and appear desperate for QB help, and either New York squad might be willing to cough up some extra picks to ensure they get whichever quarterback they desire.

Cleveland could also build up the lines, both of which can use some high-end reinforcement. Michigan DT Mason Graham, LSU OT Will Campbell and EDGEs Abdul Carter from Penn State and Mykel Williams of Georgia all make sense as projections.

Then there’s Travis Hunter. The Heisman winner might be the best player in the draft regardless of position, and he can play two of them–WR and CB–at a very high level.

It should be a fun and interesting few months for Browns fans in considering all their options, which is something Cleveland hasn’t had in the draft in a few years.

Another report indicates the job security of Kevin Stefanski, Andrew Berry

All signs point to no turnover in Berea this year.

The job security of Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry continues to be a hot topic.

However, last week ESPN insider Adam Schefter indicated that their seats were cold. Now, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer has reported a similar stance in his most recent mailbag.

Answering a question about the job security of the current regime in Berea, Breer gave a definitive take that aligns with what Schefter had to say last week:

“…the plan is to stick with Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski, who were just extended into 2025. The Haslams have sought the right model since buying the team in ’12. They feel like they’ve found it. I agree with their stance internally, that one season of horrific circumstances shouldn’t incite panic and total upheaval.”

Whether you like it or not, Berry and Stefanski are here to stay beyond the 2024 season. Beyond 2025, however? They’ll need to kick it back into gear after an offseason of reloading.

NFL insider comments on the job security of the current Browns regime

The current regime is not in any danger according to Albert Breer.

The job security of Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry appear safe.

The Browns’ rough start to 2024 doesn’t appear to have shaken owner Jimmy Haslam’s thoughts on what to do with the future of his front office.

Despite receiving long-term extensions this past offseason, many in the Browns fanbase are eager to see one of the two fired for their decision to trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Albert Breer, a senior NFL reporter, commented on the Browns’ general manager and head coach’s outlook on 92.3 The Fan’s Afternoon Drive:

“They have made the playoffs two of the four seasons under this current model, and the quarterback decision might not be on Kevin and Andrew as much as it was an organizational decision”.

Breer cites Jimmy Haslam’s vote of confidence in letting Berry lead the Browns before the NFL trade deadline as justification for his support of the team’s head coach and general manager. If the Browns continue to do well after the quarterback change, there are very minimal reasons to see Berry or Stefanski lose their jobs.

Eagles vs. Browns: Best photos from Philadelphia’s 20-16 win over Cleveland in Week 6

Best photos from Philadelphia Eagles 20-16 win over Cleveland Brown in Week 6

It wasn’t the prettiest win, but Philadelphia did enough to avoid an ugly post-bye week loss with a 20-16 victory over the 1-5 Browns in Week 6. On defense, Vic Fangio’s unit held Cleveland to 244 total yards and 3-12 on third down.  The Eagles’ rushing attack was stifled, but thanks to the return of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Kellen Moore’s offense was able to amass 256 yards, passing 116 yards on the ground and explosive plays from their top two pass catchers. With preparation for the NFC East opener against the Giants set to begin, here are the top photos from the big win. ***

Browns expect their missing offensive linemen back soon

The Browns are expecting some of their reinforcements back soon.

The Cleveland Browns are closing out their preseason against the Seattle Seahawks in a late-night affair, but they are doing so without a plethora of their starters. The majority of their missing starters, however, come across the offensive line.

Right now, the Browns are missing offensive tackles Jack Conklin, Jedrick Wills, James Hudson III, and Hakeem Adeniji. However, general manager Andrew Berry, speaking on the team’s pre-game show, shed some light on their shortage of bookends.

ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi captured the conversation, one where Berry said, “We do expect some of our guys to come back over the next week or two.”

Veteran and two-time All-Pro Conklin was seen working out with trainers earlier this week, kick setting as both a left and right tackle. He enters the season more than likely slated as the team’s swing tackle behind both Wills and Dawand Jones.

However, with Wills still not back on the practice field, we could see Conklin start Week 1 at left tackle. This is a position he has not played since his All-American days back at Michigan State which got him drafted in the first round.

With the Cowboys just about two weeks away, the Browns need their protection to be at full force against Micah Parsons and company.
