Alabama MBB reaches out to highly-coveted transfer forward

Despite preparing for March Madness, Alabama has reportedly reached out to Omaha forward Frankie Fidler, who recently entered the transfer portal.

The Alabama men’s basketball coaching staff has already began to recruit players in the transfer portal. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Alabama has reached out to Omaha transfer forward Frankie Fidler.

Fidler spent the first three seasons of his college career at Omaha. The Nebraska native has been effective in each season thus far. In three seasons, Fidler has averaged 16 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game. He has shot an efficient 45.4% from the floor and 35.4% from beyond-the-arc.

Alabama will likely lose multiple players on its roster this offseason to either the NBA draft or the transfer portal. Needless to say, Fidler could be an intriguing option for the Crimson Tide to consider moving forward.

Alabama vs. Florida: Predictions and analysis

Check out analysis and predictions for the Florida vs. Alabama men’s basketball showdown in Tuscaloosa.

Two of the hottest teams in the SEC will face off inside Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday night. The Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the Florida Gators.

Florida comes into the game having won six of their last eight games. The Gators have knocked off two top-25 opponents in Kentucky and Auburn in recent weeks.

Needless to say, Todd Golden’s squad is playing its best ball of the season. The Gators have four double-digit scorers and have continued to improve game by game.

Florida is led offensively by transfer guards Zyon Pullin and Walter Clayton Jr. The two combine to average 31.9 points per game shooting 43.9% from the floor.

Interestingly enough, Florida has two forwards — Micah Handlogten and Tyrese Samuel combined to average 15.2 rebounds per game. That is one area that Florida will challenge Alabama in — the rebounding department.

Alabama seems to be hitting its stride at the right point of the season. With the game being played at home, I will give Alabama the advantage. It will be closed until the end. I like Alabama 85, Florida 78.

Alabama vs. Texas A&M: Predictions and analysis

Check out analysis and predictions for the Texas A&M vs. Alabama men’s basketball showdown in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama is coming off a big win on the road against LSU. The Crimson Tide remain atop the SEC with a 9-2 conference record. Their challenger on Saturday will be a Texas A&M squad that is on the cusp of being a bubble team in the NCAA Tournament. A loss earlier in the week to Vanderbilt did not do the Aggies any justice. A win against Alabama would certainly go a long way with their chances of potentially reaching the NCAA Tournament.

In the past, Alabama head coach Nate Oats and his previous teams have struggled to come away with wins in College Station. Much to the chagrin of Texas A&M, the Crimson Tide have the luxury of playing the Aggies inside Coleman Coliseum on Saturday

Alabama has lost one game at home this season. That came in non-conference play against Clemson. Outside of that, the Crimson Tide have taken care of business on their home floor.

Texas A&M is led by veteran guards Wade Taylor IV and Tyrece “Boots” Radford. The two combine to average 34.9 points per game and shoot 39.5% from the floor. Their play will likely determine the outcome of the game. The Aggies typically make things difficult from a defensive standpoint. Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams places a heavy emphasis on placing tough defense.

Alabama’s guard play has improved tremendously over the course of the season. Rylan Griffen, Aaron Estrada, and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. have each stepped up in big ways to contribute to the scoring efforts of senior guard Mark Sears.

Texas A&M will make things challenging for Alabama over the course of the game. However, Alabama will prevail late in the second half. My final score prediction is Alabama 78, Texas A&M 64.

Alabama MBB receives interesting NCAA Tournament projection amid recent success

The Alabama men’s basketball team received an interesting projection on the latest bracket by USA TODAY Sports.

The Alabama men’s basketball team has won six of their last seven games. Nate Oats’ squad has found a formula for success. Shoot at a high rate and do just enough on the defensive end. As a result, the Crimson Tide now find themselves being projected as a No. 3 seed in USA TODAY Sports’ latest bracketology.

Alabama is projected to be the top-ranked seed in the Pittsburgh regional. In the first round, Alabama would take on No. 14 seed High Point. If they were to advance to the Round of 32, they would take on the winnner of the No. 6 San Diego State versus No. 11 Texas game.

Needless to say, these projections will continue to change before the March Madness bracket is officially made. However, this seems to be a good draw for the Crimson Tide at this time.

Alabama vs. Mississippi State: Predictions and analysis

Check out analysis and predictions for the Mississippi State vs. Alabama men’s basketball showdown in Tuscaloosa.

Things have continued to go right for the Alabama men’s basketball program. The Crimson Tide have won seven of the last eight games. Nate Oats’ squad is trending in the right direction at the right time.

Despite some early struggles, Alabama has seemingly found its identity — shoot at a high rate and do just enough on defense to come away with a win. That seems to be the formula for success, at least it has been as of late.

Alabama is coming off of a grind-it-out win against Georgia on the road. Mississippi State is coming off of a gut-wrenching loss at the hands of Ole Miss.

In the first meeting between the two programs this season, Alabama came away with a hard-earned 82-74 win over the Bulldogs inside Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville. It might have been a key turning point for the Crimson Tide.

The Bulldogs have lost three of their last five games. All three losses came on the road. Given the fact that Coleman Coliseum is not the easiest place to play, I will give Alabama the advantage.

It will not be easy given Mississippi State’s defensive prowess. However, Alabama has certainly come along on the offensive end of the floor since the two teams’ last meeting.

Mississippi State is led by the scoring tandem of Josh Hubbard and Tolu Smith. The two of them combine to average 31.4 points per game.

Alabama’s guard play will be too much for the Bulldogs to handle for two halves. Mississippi State also struggles to keep their big men out of foul trouble. For these reasons, I will have Alabama winning Saturday night’s matchup by a final score of 80-68.

Alabama HC Nate Oats provides update on status of Tide forward Nick Pringle

Alabama basketball head coach Nate Oats provided an update on Nick Pringle.

Following Wednesday night’s matchup, Alabama head coach Nate Oats provided an update on the status of Crimson Tide forward Nick Pringle.

“He’s currently suspended. He’s got to decide whether he wants to be part of this program or not. Some of his decisions, how he conducts himself. Nothing bad off the court or anything like that but in practice, in games.”

Pringle has played in 19 games this season. He has made starts in 11 of the 19 contests that he has appeared in. Pringle averages 5.2 points per game in 15.7 minutes per game.

His best game of the season came against No. 8-ranked Creighton. Pringle scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds on the night.

Pringle is most productive as a rebounder and rim protector. Alabama has one true center on the roster without Pringle. That is junior Mohamed Wague. Therefore, Pringle’s presence in Alabama’s frontcourt is welcomed. However, as Oats pointed out, it is unclear what Pringle’s status will be moving forward.

Nate Oats wants to see his team ‘handle physicality’ better after road loss to Tennessee

Alabama’s lack of a physical presence is the Tide’s glaring weakness

It was a tough day for [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and Alabama in Knoxville as the Crimson Tide suffered a humiliating 91-71 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers.

The Vols jumped on the Tide early on in the contest and Alabama was never able to recover. Following Alabama’s first SEC loss of the season, Coach Oats would meet with the media to discuss his team’s performance against the Vols.

Coach Oats took some of the blame for the Tide’s outing, but also wants to see his team handle the physicality of the game better moving forward in conference play.

“I’ve got to do a better job getting these guys ready to go against their pressure and what we thought our plan was. Well, it wasn’t very good. Effort was a little bit of the issue, but a bigger issue was just, to me, some toughness, learning how to handle physicality, decision-making with the ball in our hands. It wasn’t where it needed to be tonight.”

Without the presence of a true big in the post, Alabama has struggled this season against more physical opponents. Things won’t get any easier for Alabama with a home matchup against the Auburn Tigers coming up on Wednesday night.

Alabama at Tennessee: How to watch, injury report, players to watch

Where will you be watching from?

The SEC basketball season is in full swing and one particular matchup on Saturday could go a long way in determining who is viewed as the top team in the conference.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] will lead the Alabama Crimson Tide into Knoxville to take on Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers for an epic matchup of SEC rivals.

Oats and the Tide are currently riding a six-game winning streak and have an opportunity to make a statement in the early portion of the SEC slate.

Saturday’s matchup is sure to draw a lot of national attention as both Alabama and Tennessee look to bolster their NCAA tournament resumes.

Below is how you can watch the highly-anticipated matchup between the Tide and Vols.

Alabama basketball has massive opportunity against Tennessee in Knoxville

Can Nate Oats and Alabama pull off the upset on Saturday in Knoxville?

You could make the argument that [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team are playing about as well as anyone else in the country right now.

The Tide are currently on a six-game winning streak and have opened SEC play with a perfect 4-0 record. The biggest challenge yet lies ahead for Coach Oats and the Tide with Saturday’s matchup against No. 6 Tennessee in Knoxville.

The Vols have consistently been one of the best teams in the country this season and will be a tough opponent for the Tide to take down on the road.

Tennessee is led by senior guard Dalton Knecht who is averaging 18.5 points per game good enough for fourth in the SEC. However, Knecht is currently playing at an elite level averaging over 34 points per game over his last three contests.

Knecht isn’t all the Vols have either. Forward Jonas Aidoo and guard Zakai Zeigler are also impactful players that Alabama will need to handle on Saturday.

Alabama’s backcourt has been the story for the Tide this season, Mark Sears, Aaron Estrada, and Rylan Griffen make up one of the best-scoring trios in the country.

The improved play of Grant Nelson on the defensive end has been the difference for the Tide during the early portion of conference play where he is averaging over two blocks per game.

Tip-off between the Tide and the Vols is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
