Nate Oats wants to see his team ‘handle physicality’ better after road loss to Tennessee

Alabama’s lack of a physical presence is the Tide’s glaring weakness

It was a tough day for [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and Alabama in Knoxville as the Crimson Tide suffered a humiliating 91-71 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers.

The Vols jumped on the Tide early on in the contest and Alabama was never able to recover. Following Alabama’s first SEC loss of the season, Coach Oats would meet with the media to discuss his team’s performance against the Vols.

Coach Oats took some of the blame for the Tide’s outing, but also wants to see his team handle the physicality of the game better moving forward in conference play.

“I’ve got to do a better job getting these guys ready to go against their pressure and what we thought our plan was. Well, it wasn’t very good. Effort was a little bit of the issue, but a bigger issue was just, to me, some toughness, learning how to handle physicality, decision-making with the ball in our hands. It wasn’t where it needed to be tonight.”

Without the presence of a true big in the post, Alabama has struggled this season against more physical opponents. Things won’t get any easier for Alabama with a home matchup against the Auburn Tigers coming up on Wednesday night.
