Alabama vs LSU: Predictions and analysis

Check out analysis and predictions for the LSU vs. Alabama men’s basketball showdown in Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama men’s basketball team is coming off of its biggest win of the season against in-state rival, Auburn. The Crimson Tide will be forced to quickly attempt to repeat their success on Saturday night with a good LSU squad coming to town.

LSU comes in with an 11-8 overall record and a 3-3 record in conference play. The Tigers are led by veteran guards Jalen Cook and Jordan Wright. The two combine to average 31.5 points per game and shoot 41.2% from the floor.

In order for Alabama to have success, they will have to neutralize the Tigers backcourt production.

Alabama will also need to continue to get valuable minutes from players like Rylan Griffen, Latrell Wrightsell Jr., and Grant Nelson. Those three have been difference makers down the stretch.

With LSU coming off of a gut-wrenching loss on the road against Georgia, it seems like the odds are stacked against them. The Crimson Tide have won five out of the last six games. Nate Oats’ squad will continue its recent wave of success on Saturday night inside Coleman Coliseum.

LSU will put up a valiant effort early on, but Alabama will prevail in the second half. My prediction is that Alabama wins by a final score of 84-62.

Brian Kelly, Jayden Daniels lead LSU to stunning win over Alabama, helping USC

Fact: #USC has a path to the playoff and Alabama does not. The Trojans got help from Brian Kelly’s new team and his former one, Notre Dame, on Saturday.

Brin Kelly really did that.

The LSU Tigers, to the surprise of the majority of the country, stunned Alabama on Saturday on a risky 2-point conversion in overtime to send Alabama home and likely end their College Football Playoff hopes.

With everything on the line, Kelly rolled the dice, and Tiger QB Jayden Daniels delivered a strike to Mason Taylor to get the 32-31 victory and send Death Valley into one of the biggest frenzies in recent memory.

This game will be remembered for a long time, and now LSU enters the top-10 as the Crimson Tide go further down the rankings and Nick Saban is held out of the CFP.

USC got the help it needs:

The reactions to this game were everything you would expect.

Why Alabama Will Win

Tennessee might have had a good lead and played a great first half in the semifinal, and then Bama started to step up the tempo, forced a slew of mistakes, and it won the second half by 14 in the 73-68 win.

There wasn’t a whole lot of drama before that in the five game winning streak, but now the team is showing just how strong it can be when it has to turn it up a notch when it really matters.

No one in America shoots more threes, the defensive pressure is still great at forcing mistakes, and coming up with shutdown stretches is the norm.

The Tide only faced LSU once with a 105-75 win in mid-January when the offense nailed everything. LSU has the high-powered offense, but Bama has the extra gear when it comes to cranking up the volume threes.

Why LSU Will Win

The Tiger offense has been terrific.

The defense might be flaky with just enough meltdowns – usually when the rebounds aren’t there at either end – to expect a clunker to be just around the bend, but everything held together over the last four games and in the SEC Tournament to get here.

Arkansas had the tempo and offense to run the Tigers out of the gym, but instead LSU was on from three and came up with a strong outing on the free throw line to win 78-71.

The O can hang with Bama in what should be a back-and-forth fight, and the D is among the best in the nation at guarding the three, and …

What’s Going To Happen

The Tide followed up that 105-point day earlier in the season with a 78-60 win in early February when the Tigers couldn’t seem to hit a thing.

This will be an offensive show no matter what, but Bama’s 3-and-D style will work just enough in the second half to pull away after a strong LSU first half.

Top prospects lead Alabama to blowout win over LSU

Mac Jones, Najee’ Harris and DeVonta Smith all delivered big performances in Alabama’s dominant win over LSU

Last year, LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa on their way to an SEC title and a national championship.

The Crimson Tide got their revenge Saturday night with a 55-17 blowout win in Baton Rouge, and their top prospects led the way with dominant performances.

Quarterback Mac Jones continued his Heisman-worthy season with a near-perfect outing, completing 20 of his 28 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions. Wide receiver Devonta Smith caught seven passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, while running back Najee’ Harris rushed for 145 yards and three scores of his own.

With the victory, Alabama clinched the SEC West, and a spot in the SEC title game against Florida.

Roll Tide Wire staff score predictions for Alabama vs. LSU

The entire staff at Roll Tide Wire give their score predictions for the upcoming Alabama game against the LSU Tigers.

It is officially Week 14 of the college football season. Alabama (8-0) is coming off a big 42-13 victory over the Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl, but next up on the list is LSU (3-4).

That is a game that a lot of Tide fan have had circled on the calendar since the 46-41 loss in 2019. It has already been rescheduled once this season after it was supposed to be played on Nov. 14, but we are officially on for this Saturday.

Below are the score predictions and breakdowns from the entire Roll Tide Wire staff. Enjoy!

AJ Spurr, Contributor

For starters, I don’t think a “nighttime in Death Valley” will help LSU in the slightest. The reigning national champions will have a near-impossible time trying to move the ball on offense against this refined Pete Golding, Alabama defense.

It may seem like a lot to score 59 points, but considering the Crimson Tide offense could hang upwards of 80 on this ugly LSU defense, this is a prediction based on Saban taking his football off the gas in the third quarter.

The disrespect dealt by Coach O and the Tigers after last year’s loss has not been forgotten, and I expect Alabama to come out swinging and firing on all cylinders.

Final score: Alabama 59, LSU 13

Bryan Manning, Contributor

Anytime you see LSU and Alabama on the schedule you are expecting a hard-hitting defensive battle that determines the SEC West.

Not this year.

Last year’s game meant something as LSU was on its historic run to the national championship and survived the Crimson Tide. This year, LSU has lost many of the players who led them on that terrific run and have struggled with a 3-4 record.

Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide continue to roll along.

LSU’s offense will not threaten Alabama’s stout defense, meaning this one could get ugly early.

Final score: Alabama 38, LSU 10

Clint Lamb, Managing Editor

The potential motivational factors at play make this a tough game to predict. Several of the LSU players — and coaches, for that matter — took last year’s victory a bit too far, or that’s how the Alabama fan base views it.

If players feel similar, this game will be a chance to take out frustration on a vulnerable Tigers squad. This should be a big victory for the Crimson Tide regardless, but extra motivation could turn this into a rough ride in Baton Rouge for LSU.

T.J. Finley is going to be a good quarterback, but so far, he’s been a guy who needs things to go right around him in order to be effective.

With the improvements made on Alabama’s defense and the emergence of guys like true freshman defensive lineman Tim Smith, a scenario where things go right might not seem feasible. That defense has been opportunistic in turning turnovers into touchdowns in recent weeks, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that continue.

Final score: Alabama 48, LSU 16

Updated BetMGM betting odds for Alabama vs. LSU

Alabama will face off against LSU on the road and will be the heavi favorites according to oddsmakers at BetMGM.

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide will face off against an unranked LSU on the road for another ‘night game in Death Valley.’ However, this year’s contest is not as highly anticipated as they usually are.

Alabama being the top team in the nation, as well as the only undefeated team in the SEC, seems high and above the reigning National Champions, who are 3-4 this season.

Oddsmakers at BetMGM are also predicting a healthy win for Alabama over the Tigers.
