Ohio State commit Aaron Scott Jr. bumped up to a five-star recruit

Add another five-star recruit to the 2024 Ohio State class. #GoBucks

Ohio native Aaron Scott Jr. was a must-get recruit for Ohio State. There was some drama when Michigan seemed to be closing the gap in Scott’s recruitment in July before an epic trolling of the Wolverines saw him commit to the Scarlet and Gray.

Fresh off an Ohio High School state championship runner-up finish with his Springfield High School team, Scott was recently bumped to five-star status on both the 247Sports composite and On3 industry ranking. The two take a weighted average of all four recruiting services.

Scott is also ranked as the No. 2 cornerback in the nation.

This gives Ohio State six five-star recruits in the 2024 class. Of course, until pen meets paper those numbers can always change. But for now, Scott is a Buckeye and shows no signs of going any other direction.

Ohio State football recruiting: What Aaron Scott’s commitment means

Scott’s commitment means so much for Buckeye Nation #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] scored a massive recruiting win on Sunday evening, when 2024 in-state cornerback [autotag]Aaron Scott Jr[/autotag] committed to the Buckeyes.

His announcement kept all of us on the edge of our seats, as it looked for a moment like he was going to pick Michigan, only to pull an Ohio State jersey out of a Wolverine backpack that happened to be the last item on the table.

The verbal commitment caps a month where the Buckeyes made a concerted effort to build defensive commitments. Another Scott, Justin, committed earlier in the month, giving the Buckeyes bookend Scott’s for July.

Aaron’s commitment is huge for multiple reasons and let’s take a look what it means.

Ohio State football priority target Aaron Scott Jr. set to announce on July 30

Will Aaron Scott Jr. pick Ohio State? #GoBucks

Friday, July 30 is going to be a big day for Ohio State football one way or another. Aaron Scott Jr. who is the No. 5 cornerback in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings is ready to announce his college decision.

The Buckeyes got big news earlier this week with the news that Bryce West, who is the No. 4 cornerback in the class, had decided to commit to Ohio State. Since then West has been actively recruiting Scott to join him in scarlet and gray.

As of now, Scott has several crystal ball predictions to join the Buckeyes. However, it doesn’t sound like it will be that simple. Several have said that this has been a tough decision and it could be 50/50 at this point between OSU and Michigan.

Scott is a Springfield, Ohio native. His father has made it well known that he is a huge Ohio State fan and would love to see his son become a Buckeye. July 30 happens to be his dad’s birthday. Could this be a birthday gift for dear ole’ dad?

Oregon is also listed as a finalist for Scott’s services, however, we haven’t heard too much about the Ducks. This seems to be a two-horse race between the Buckeyes and TTUN.

If Ohio State can pull Scott in, the Bucks are well on their way to putting together quite a class, especially on the defensive side of the ball. He and West together would be a formidable duo in the OSU secondary for the next several years.

Stay tuned… there could be another big BOOM! on the horizon.

In-state 2024 cornerback has Ohio State in top five

Can the Buckeyes keep one of the best home? #GoBucks

Creating a recruiting fence around Ohio is a must for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag], keeping the top talent home has always been a focus.

One of the best in-state players is Springfield cornerback [autotag]Aaron Scott Jr.[/autotag] The 6-foot and 170 pound defender has long had the Buckeyes near the top of his list and today confirmed that.

Scott Jr. trimmed his list down from 10 schools to 5, with Ohio State making the cut. The Ohioan is one of the top players in the country regardless of position, checking in at 56th overall and the 6th best cornerback according to the 247Sports composite.

It is shaping up to be a rivalry battle for Scott Jr.’s commitment, as one of his other finalists is the Buckeyes bitter rival, Michigan.

On3’s Chad Simmons like Ohio State’s chances with elite instate 2024 prospect

Great news for the Buckeyes! #GoBucks

The rivalry between [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and Michigan is well documented, it’s not just on the field either, it’s on the recruiting trail.

Typically, it’s not the Buckeyes heading North for a prospect, it’s almost always the other way around, and 2024 Ohio cornerback [autotag]Aaron Scott Jr.[/autotag] is a primary target for both schools.

Ohio State wants to keep the best prospects from leaving the state every year and Scott Jr. is one of those. The 6-foot, 170-pound corner is not only one of the best prospects in the state but in the country as well. It’s a heated recruiting battle between the two rivals and today the Buckeye got some encouraging news.

On3’s Chad Simmons believes Ohio State is in the lead and made a prediction for Scott Jr. to stay home and play for the Buckeyes.

Simmons’ confidence level is at 60% which in recruiting is fairly high. Although Scott Jr. has yet to announce when he will make his commitment, at the current moment, it looks like Ohio State is in prime position to land the talented defender.

Penn State on final list for Top 50 ranked cornerback

Penn State is hoping to add another high quality cornerback to the Class of 2024.

Penn State has been making waves across the country with its 2024 class. They have now jumped into the top 10 with the 10th-ranked recruiting class nationally according to 247Sports.

This early success is coming on the heels of the 2023 class that saw them finish outside the top 10 after having the sixth-ranked class in 2022.

Four-star cornerback [autotag]Aaron Scott Jr.[/autotag] has been on the radar for many teams in the country, racking up 31 scholarship offers. The 5’11” 165-pound prospect from Ohio is the 43rd-best player in the 2024 class according to On3’s industry ranking.

Scott Jr. announced his top 12 schools on Easter Sunday. Penn State was included as one of the schools despite already landing two cornerbacks in this class. Still, it would be surprising if [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] turned away one of the most talented players on their recruiting radar, even with the position being heavily recruited.

The other schools on the list include Oregon, Ohio State, USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, and Louisville.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Ohio State as the massive favorite to land Scott Jr. They have been given a 95.2% to keep the four-star cornerback instate. Penn State has been given a less than one percent chance to land the top 50 player.

Scott Jr. did mention to Hayes Fawcett of On3 that Oregon has been his dream school since elementary school, so it was interesting to not see that program show up in the prediction machine.

If Penn State isn’t able to land Scott Jr. it won’t be a devastating blow because of how well they’ve recruited the cornerback position so far in the 2024 class.
