Alabama football’s A-Day spring game date revealed

The debut of Kalen DeBoer on the sidelines in Tuscaloosa will be at Alabama’s A-Day Spring game, and we now have a date.

In the heat of the offseason, college football fans always look forward to their respective team’s spring game, which gives fans an opportunity to see players and coaches take the field in preparation for the fall. For Alabama, the A-Day spring game will take place on April 13.

For the last 17 years, fans have flocked to Tuscaloosa to see head coach Nick Saban take the field while the Crimson Tide scrimmage. Gone are the days of Saban roaming the backfield in a brightly-colored suit, as the legendary head coach recently retired.

Now, fans from across the country will get to see a new face at the helm of the historic program. Kalen DeBoer will have an opportunity to impress fans and media members alike in mid-April, as he enters a packed Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time as Alabama’s head coach.

Pros and cons of all of Alabama’s quarterbacks heading into 2023

Breaking down the Alabama QB battle after the addition of Tyler Buchner

There are many questions looming over the Alabama football team as it heads into the 2023 season, but none is more significant than the quarterback position.

Crimson Tide fans have been spoiled over the past few years with NFL franchise-caliber talents Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones and Bryce Young.

Coming back down to earth was never going to be an easy transition, but fortunately, the Tide have some really talented guys on the roster. The position battle remains open among any of the guys with a fair chance for them each to win it. Tide fans were hoping to have some clarity on the position by the end of A-Day, but I think there were more questions than answers coming from the scrimmage.

After a lackluster spring performance across the board, Nick Saban brought in former Notre Dame quarterback, Tyler Buchner, to compete for the job. While it’s likely a three-man race for the job, five guys will get snaps throughout the summer. Rees and Saban have no pressure to go in any specific direction, and I trust they’ll pick the right man for the job.

Below is my assessment on the five guys competing for the QB1 position.

Crimson beats White in Alabama football’s 2023 A-Day spring game

Alabama’s 2023 A-Day has come to an end and the Crimson team took down the White team with a final score of 30-21.

Alabama’s annual A-Day spring game is in the books and the Crimson team took down the White team with a final score of 30-21. While it was exciting to see the Crimson Tide take the field for the first time in a few months, more questions were raised than answers given.

The biggest story heading into the scrimmage was the ongoing quarterback battle between Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson.

Milroe led the White team and completed 51% of his passes, threw two touchdowns but also threw two interceptions. Simpson was the quarterback for the Crimson team and completed 46% of his passes and had one interception. While Simpson’s numbers may seem underwhelming, he performed well.

Contributing to the poor stats of both quarterbacks were numerous dropped balls by the receiving corps. Jermaine Burton, on multiple occasions, had a routine pass that popped out of his hands. The wide receivers will now be a must-watch positional group as the season approaches.

As far as running backs go, Justice Haynes found his way into the end zone twice on only 10 touches. Jase McClellan finished with the most yards of any true running back with only 37 yards on seven carries. Simpson had the most rushing yards with 58.

Twitter reacts to Jalen Milroe’s impressive TD run on A-Day

Jalen Milroe takes it himself for an impressive touchdown run to open the scoring on A-Day!

Jalen Milroe has been considered the frontrunner to be the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide in the 2023 season, but the A-Day spring game is an opportunity to help solidify that.

Late in the first quarter, Milroe successfully ran the read option and kept the ball for himself. He then took off for 35 yards and scored the opening touchdown of the game.

Fans are using this game as a way to gauge where the QB battle stands for the Crimson Tide between Milroe and Ty Simpson. Those fans were quick to share their excitement when Milroe scored that touchdown.

Here are what fans had to say about the impressive run.

10 players with the most to prove in Alabama’s A-Day game

Roll Tide Wire breaks down which 10 Alabama football players have the most to prove in Alabama’s A-Day game on Saturday.

Alabama finished last season with an 11-2 record and a Sugar Bowl victory over Kansas State. This may sound like a successful season, but not for the Crimson Tide program.

The expectation for the Tide each season is that they reach the conference championship as well as the College Football Playoff. Anything less is a disappointment among the Alabama faithful.

With several key players from a season ago headed to the NFL, there will be some new faces at key positions.

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at 10 players that have the most to prove in Alabama’s A-Day game on Saturday.

LOOK: Alabama football honors its 2021 captains

Alabama honors its 2021 football team captains ahead of A-Day.

A-Day 2022 is set to kick off in a little under an hour from now. Per its tradition, leading up to the start of the game, the Alabama football team honored its 2021 football season captains by placing their handprints and footprints on the steps of legendary Denny Chimes.

The 2021 season captains will forever be Alabama legends and it’s hard to find a better quartet of players than Bryce Young, Evan Neal, Will Anderson, and Phidarian Mathis.

The good news for ‘Bama fans is the fact that two of those players will be returning for the 2022 season in Young and Anderson.

Eli Ricks, Jermaine Burton and Jahmyr Gibbs headline spring game storylines

The transfers will be on full display come Saturday.

The annual ‘A-Day’ spring game is set for Saturday and there are plenty of storylines to follow for this game. While many eyes will be on the wide receivers in this game as well as the offensive line, the transfers are going to be the biggest draw.

The addition of [autotag]Eli Ricks[/autotag] was a massive get for the Crimson Tide as they improve on the back end of the defense. Not to be outdone by new running back [autotag]Jahmyr Gibbs[/autotag] and wide receiver [autotag]Jermaine Burton[/autotag]. The latest addition won’t be suiting up for the scrimmage but [autotag]Tyler Steen[/autotag] figures to be an integral part of the offense in the trenches.

ESPN recently broke down the top storylines with Alabama’s focus being placed solely on the familiar faces in new places.

What ESPN says…

Nick Saban has been strategic when it comes to the transfer portal. Instead of going all out, he has utilized it more like the NFL does free agency, targeting specific needs. And, in what should be a surprise to exactly no one, he has landed some of the best players available. Remember LSU All-American cornerback Eli Ricks? He’s at Alabama now, effectively replacing Josh Jobe. How about Georgia Tech All-ACC running back/return specialist Jahmyr Gibbs? He’s at Alabama, too, filling in for Brian Robinson Jr. The Crimson Tide lost to Georgia in the CFP National Championship Game. A few weeks later, Saban signed the Bulldogs’ top receiver, Jermaine Burton, who should help make up for the loss of Jameson Williams and John Metchie. — Alex Scarborough

Questions that need answers at Alabama’s A-Day spring game

With Alabama Football’s A-Day upon us, here are a few questions we want answers to.

Alabama football will return to Bryant Denny Stadium this Saturday to face the Crimson Tide.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] will be roaming the field and instructing players during the program’s A-Day spring game. Fans will be able to attend the game in person, as the stadium will be back to 100% capacity after last year’s COVID restrictions limited capacity. Others will be able to watch from home at 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.

The annual scrimmage is a great opportunity for fans and members of the media to get familiar with the 2022 roster. It’s not uncommon for players to have a strong A-Day and head into the season as one of the fan’s favorites.

This game will also give insight as to how the team is addressing issues or voids left behind by players who left for the draft or transferred out.

Here are five questions we’d like answers to from this year’s A-Day spring game.
