Bengals upgrade offensive line in 2024 mock draft

A fun 2024 mock draft for the Bengals.

With a while left to go before the Cincinnati Bengals season begins, it’s never too soon to look at mock drafts for the 2024 offseason.

Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports had the Bengals with the 28th pick, selecting Ohio State offensive lineman Donovan Jackson.

Here’s why Easterling believes this would be a good pick for the Bengals next year:

Protecting Joe Burrow should remain the Bengals’ top priority, allowing him to take full advantage of the NFL’s top receiver duo of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Jackson is a plug-and-play starter who could immediately give the Bengals a long-term upgrade at either guard spot.

The Bengals got their upgrade at tackle with the Orlando Brown Jr. signing, forcing a competition on the right side, so a guard spot would be the next place to look to get better with Jackson, who started 13 games at left guard in 2022.

Chiefs add to defensive trenches again in early 2024 NFL mock draft

This early 2024 NFL mock draft would have the #Chiefs selecting a defensive end in the first round for the third consecutive year.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

We’re only a few months removed from the 2023 NFL draft, but that doesn’t mean draftniks and analysts aren’t already thinking ahead to the future.

In a 2024 mock draft from Athlon Sports’ Luke Easterling, the Kansas City Chiefs select their third consecutive first-round defensive end. This time they’re venturing back to the Big 10 to select Ohio State DE Jack Sawyer.

Here’s a look at what Easterling had to say about the pick:

There aren’t many glaring needs on this roster, if any at all, but loading up on quality depth in the trenches is always a good idea. Sawyer is a tough, physical defender with the versatility to rush the passer and drop into coverage.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, Sawyer is certainly a player who will meet Steve Spagnuolo’s thresholds at the position. He’s proven extremely reliable for the Buckeyes, appearing in all 26 games in each of the last two seasons. He was a coaches honorable mention All-Big 10 selection in 2022.

His career production features 35 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 33 pressures, one pass batted and one forced fumble. It’s safe to say that Sawyer would likely need to see a big jump in production in 2023 to be considered in the first round, even at the end of it.

As far as need is concerned for Kansas City, it’s a bit tough to see the Chiefs investing another high draft pick in this position so soon. With George Karlaftis selected in Round 1 of 2022 and Felix Anudike-Uzomah drafted in Round 1 of 2023, Sawyer certainly wouldn’t see the field with any level of frequency as a rookie.

2024 NFL first-round mock draft: 2023 NBA draft edition

Now that the 2023 NBA draft is done, what better time than now to run another 2024 NFL first-round mock draft?

Now that the 2023 NBA draft is in the bag, what better excuse can we at Touchdown Wire have to do another 2024 NFL mock draft? The 2023 college football season is still weeks away, and it’s the dead part of the NFL timeline, so while we don’t think we’ll see any insane deals like the one the Wizards and Suns pulled off (unless the Rams decide to get weird again), it is time to start thinking about what NFL teams will need after the 2023 season and after 2024 free agency.

This time, the draft positions are courtesy of the Pro Football Network mock draft simulator, with no first-round trades during the simulation.

Without further ado, here’s one version of how the first round of the 2024 NFL draft might look.

Way-too-early Browns seven round 2024 NFL mock draft

What prospects should Browns fans have an eye on during the 2023 season?

The 2024 NFL draft is nearly a year away but you can bet general manager Andrew Berry has already begun scouting for next April. It is hard to tell what the Cleveland Browns will need to focus on before watching the 2023 season start to play out. However, you can be a little predictive based on contracts and the age of the current roster.

The team doesn’t have any linebackers outside Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on long-term deals past this season. They also have questions about the future of the offensive line both at tackle and guard. Let’s take a look at how next year’s draft could play out in this way too early 2024 mock draft.

Four Longhorns projected in the first round of latest 2024 NFL mock draft

T’Vondre Sweat is one of the four projected first-round selections in this NFL mock draft.

Steve Sarkisian’s staff has done an excellent job developing players over the last few years. Continue reading “Four Longhorns projected in the first round of latest 2024 NFL mock draft”

Bengals beef up defense in new 2024 NFL mock draft

The Bengals go defense again in a new mock draft.

With things moving in slow motion right now, it feels like a good time to check in on mock drafts for the Cincinnati Bengals.

The most prominent 2024 NFL mock draft right now comes from Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar and has the Bengals going back to the defensive side of the ball with Washington pass-rusher Bralen Trice at No. 31.

It’s a pick that screams Bengals considering Trice was a bit of a slow-starter in college before becoming one of the most productive pass-rushers out there.

Duke Tobin and Co. love their best players available in Round 1 and Trice hits some need too, considering guys like Trey Hendrickson and DJ Reader have put a ton of snaps on their bodies lately and have contracts expiring soon.

And again, all that productivity:

Getting to pair Trice and Myles Murphy from this year’s first round would go a long way toward helping the defense maintain its high level of play beyond the current foundational pieces.

Packers to pick Bo Nix in latest 2024 NFL mock draft

In the latest mock NFL draft for 2024, Touchdownwire.com says Bo Nix is bound for the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.

The last time the Green Bay Packers selected a Pac-10/12 quarterback in the draft, it worked out pretty well for them.

In the latest 2024 mock NFL draft put out by TouchdownWire.com, with the 25th pick, the Packers would select Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. If Green Bay did go this route, 19 years would have passed between picking Aaron Rodgers out of California in 2005 and Nix in next year’s draft.

But a lot of things have changed between now and then. Odds are the Packers would not sit their rookie quarterback for an entire season as they did Rodgers. There isn’t a Brett Favre standing in Nix’s way for playing time like he was for Rodgers.

Nix also doesn’t strike to be an individual wanting to host Jeopardy in the off-season or go in complete darkness for days on end to figure things out.

The mock draft also predicts USC’s Caleb Williams to go No. 1 to the Arizona Cardinals and Washington’s Michael Penix, Jr. No. 7 to the Las Vegas Raiders.

If Nix is a first-round pick, no matter where he ends up, it most likely means Oregon had a great 2023 season.

Touchdown Wire mock draft has three Penn State players in first round in 2024

This new mock draft from Touchdown Wire has THREE Penn State players projected as first-round draft picks in 2024.

When [autotag]Olumuyiwa Fashanu[/autotag] announced his decision to return to Penn State for one more season, many were surprised by the news. After all, Fshanue had been projected to be a possible first-round draft pick in the 2023 NFL draft. But a return for another year of college football could actually boost his overall draft outlook according to a new mock draft from Touchdown Wire.

Touchdown Wire’s latest way-too-early mock draft has Fashanu being the fourth overall pick in next season’s NFL draft, with the Indianapolis Colts being the team in the fourth spot of the draft.

The Colts drafting an offensive lineman with a first-round pick would seem to make some sense given the team just drafted a quarterback in the first round of the 2023 draft with Anthony Richardson out of Florida. The Colts didn’t add any offensive line help in the 2023 draft until the fourth round with Blake Freeland out of BYU. The Colts also drafted Jake Witt from Michigan in the seventh round, which likely means the team will be more vested in beefing up the offensive line in the 2024 NFL draft.

If this mock draft holds true, Fashanu would be the second non-quarterback selected in the 2024 draft and the second Big Ten player chosen in the first four picks. USC quarterback Caleb Williams is projected as the first overall pick (by the Arizona Cardinals). Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. would also go to the Cardinals with the second overall pick (from the Houston Texans). North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is projected to go third overall, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before Fashanu goes off the board.

Fashanu is not the only Penn State player in the first round of this new mock draft from Touchdown Wire. Cornerback Kalen King also makes an appearance in the first round with the New England Patriots using the 12th overall pick to select one of the nation’s top cornerbacks in college football. The Chicago Bears actually get the first cornerback off the board with the 11th pick on Kool-Aid McKinstry of Alabama, but it seems the case is there to be made that King is unquestionably one of the best cornerbacks on the big board.

Adding to the first-round selections is edge rusher [autotag]Chop Robinson[/autotag]. Touchdown Wire has Robinson returning closer to home as the Baltimore Ravens are slated to use the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft to bring the Maryland native back home to play professional football. Honestly, that feels like a perfect fit too, and Robinson would join former Penn State first-round pick [autotag]Odafe Oweh[/autotag] on the Baltimore defense.

Check out the full first-round mock draft from Touchdown Wire. We’ll keep tabs on how Penn State’s players move up and down throughout the mock draft process leading up to next spring’s NFL draft.

2024 Touchdown Wire mock draft sends Vikings Big Ten CB

With the uncertainty at the cornerback position, it will be a popular position for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024 NFL mock drafts.

As the offseason progresses, the amount of news dwindles before training camp starts. It is also a good time to look forward to the 2024 NFL draft.

Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire released a 2024 mock draft and has the Minnesota Vikings taking another cornerback high in Iowa’s Cooper DeJean.

A multi-sport star in high school, DeJean came to Iowa as a safety but was thrust into the starting lineup at cornerback. He was great early on, notching three interceptions and three pass breakups in his first four games. Not bad for a safety playing outside cornerback.

DeJean is a good athlete and finished the season with five interceptions, including an astounding three touchdowns. As we look forward toward next April’s draft, DeJean is going to be a name to keep an eye on, especially with the uncertainty the Vikings currently have at cornerback.

2024 Mock Draft: Cardinals, Bucs, Raiders, Packers look for new franchise quarterbacks

In Doug Farrar’s latest 2024 mock draft, the Cardinals, Buccaneers, Raiders, and Packers are in the market for new franchise quarterbacks.

May and June mark the “slow” part of the NFL year (don’t tell that to DeAndre Hopkins’ agent), which means that teams are now engaging in some summer scouting in between all the minicamp preparation and whatnot. This means, of course, that teams are already putting the work in on prospects for the 2024 NFL draft.

We’re doing the same at Touchdown Wire, and based on projected team needs and our own initial tape work, we thought it would be interesting to start up the inevitable 2024 mock drafts! In this case, the order of teams is set by Pro Football Focus’ Mock Draft Simulator, and we go from there.

And in this mock, we have four teams looking for new franchise quarterbacks in the first round. The Arizona Cardinals, who have the first two picks overall, are starting the process of moving on from Kyler Murray, which may or may not be an actual thing by the end of the upcoming season… but it could be. We also have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looking to accentuate a quarterback room that currently consists of Baker Mayfield, Kyle Trask, and John Wolford, which kinda speaks for itself.

Also, the Las Vegas Raiders may well be tired of the Jimmy Garoppolo Experience after one year of it, and the Green Bay Packers may be in a situation where the Jordan Love succession plan didn’t go quite as everybody hoped.

So, here’s one version of how the first round of the 2024 NFL draft might go.
