Malik Nabers seemingly had a way-too-candid initial reaction about choosing between the Falcons and Titans

Malik Nabers may not be too enthused about playing for the Falcons or Titans.

Former star LSU receiver Malik Nabers didn’t participate in drills and only ent through interviews at the NFL combine this past weekend, but that didn’t keep him from having a viral moment in Indianapolis.

Nabers — the runner-up for the Biletnikoff Award and second-leading receiver in college football this past season — is widely viewed as a top-10 pick in next month’s draft. The Tennessee Titans (pick No. 7) and Atlanta Falcons (pick No. 8) are two teams that could be targeting a wideout in that range.

During an interview at the combine with CBS, Nabers underwent a makeshift personality test to determine where he’d be drafted. At the end of the clip, he was told he was going to the Falcons or the Titans.

His initial reaction told the whole story.

“Oof,” Nabers responded instinctively.

Nabers later backtracked a bit, at least when it came to the Falcons.

“That’s pretty good, I ain’t gonna lie,” he said. “Atlanta wouldn’t be too bad.”

It’s easy to see why Nabers may not be thrilled with either destination considering neither has a long-term quarterback in place. Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke struggled for the Falcons in 2023, and the team is already loaded with talent at the skill positions with players like Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson, all of whom are on rookie deals.

Meanwhile Ryan Tannehill is a pending free agent for Tennessee, and Will Levis remains a largely unproven commodity entering his second season in the league.

Perhaps Nabers just thought it was a difficult choice, but it seems he’s not particularly enthused about playing for the Falcons or Titans.

Terrion Arnold’s 2024 NFL Combine profile and results

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold’s 2024 NFL Combine profile and results.

Terrion Arnold will be one of the first cornerbacks taken off the board in the 2024 NFL draft and rightfully so. The native of Tallahassee, Florida is one of the most versatile defensive backs in this year’s draft. He put that on display at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

Arnold was originally recruited to Alabama as a safety. By the time his redshirt sophomore season rolled around, he was a full-time cornerback. As a result, his stock rose drastically to where he is now projected to be a top cornerback in this year’s draft class.

Needless to say, his performance at the 2024 NFL Combine did nothing but help his draft profile.

These 5 prospects hurt their chances of being drafted by Bengals at scouting combine

The NFL draft prospects might have falling stock on the Bengals’ big board.

The Cincinnati Bengals attended the 2024 scouting combine with a handful of major needs on the checklist.

There, the team’s biggest attention likely zeroed on the offensive and defensive lines, as well as skill position weapons for Joe Burrow and defensive help across the board.

But as is the case every year, the performance of prospects in interviews, measurements, drills and on-field work provided an updated snapshot of stock watch for the entire class.

As such, here’s a quick refresher on a handful of prospects who might classify as Bengals targets, yet whose showings at the combine hurt their chances of actually hearing their names called by the team.

5 winners (Caleb Williams!) and losers (pass rush-needy teams) from the 2024 NFL combine

Here are our winners and losers from the 2024 NFL combine, including Caleb Williams owning Indianapolis all weekend.

The 2024 NFL scouting combine is officially behind us, and hoo boy, was it a doozy.

We had several blistering 40-yard dash times, including an all-time record. We had one big-name quarterback seize the day during the weekend in a way many NFL teams aren’t accustomed to. (But they should start getting used to it.) We had some bigger guys put on a show, likely elevating their draft stock in the process.

All in all, it was the expected treat we thought we’d get from young men trying to realize their professional football dreams. But there are some more critical conclusions than others from a pivotal weekend in Indianapolis.

Let’s dive into some good old-fashioned winners and losers.

2024 NFL draft: Commanders’ 3-round post-combine mock draft

It’s time for a post-combine Commanders’ mock draft that fills multiple needs with players who can provide immediate help.

The 2024 NFL combine is over. NFL teams departed Indianapolis after Sunday’s offensive line workouts, and now all 32 franchises have begun preparation for the opening of free agency next week.

How much did last week’s combine change the perspective of NFL teams? How many prospects improved their stock? How many prospects will fall because of their performances in Indianapolis?

For the most part, the on-field drills don’t often impact how teams view players. However, the speed on display at Lucas Oil Stadium is difficult to ignore. Some wide receivers likely helped themselves over the past few days, but the interview process matters the most to teams.

With that out of the way, let’s do a mock draft. The Washington Commanders have five picks in the first three rounds. Here is a post-combine three-round draft for the Commanders.

6 takeaways from 2024 NFL combine

We look back at the 2024 NFL combine with these six takeaways.

The 2024 NFL combine is in the books after Sunday’s on-field drills featuring the offensive linemen. It was a busy week for the NFL in Indianapolis concerning not only the 2024 NFL draft but also concerning free agency.

After meetings and workouts during the day at Lucas Oil Stadium, executives representing all 32 NFL teams and agents spent the evenings at local pubs or steakhouses discussing players they want to retain — or sign from other teams.

As far as what happened on the field and how it will impact next month’s draft? With a focus on the Washington Commanders and their needs, here are seven takeaways from the NFL combine.

Bengals met with Alabama OL JC Latham at scouting combine

The Bengals met with one of the draft’s biggest names.

The Cincinnati Bengals are looking ahead to the NFL draft with the scouting combine over, but they are starting to get a better idea of who might be someone they could take with their pick at No. 18.

Over the weekend, Alabama right tackle JC Latham said he has met with the Bengals, which would make sense for them in the first round since Jonah Williams is a free agent this offseason and could be looking for a new home so he can go back to the position he moved from on the left side of the line.

“It would be an amazing experience playing with that team,” Latham said at the combine, according to TWSN’s Daniel Alameda. “They’re a Super Bowl-caliber team. They were a play away from winning. It would mean the world if I was drafted by them.”

There are other positions the Bengals need to improve at through the draft as well, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they make protecting Joe Burrow their biggest priority after missing the playoffs after he missed most of the second half of the season with an injury.

Every player the Bucs met with at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

Check out all the draft prospects the Tampa Bay Buccaneers met with at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is officially in the books, and just like every other team in the league, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were busy all week meeting with some of the top prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class in between their on-field responsibilities at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

While it’s true that most prospects meet with just about every team, it can still be a clue that a particular team is interested in a collection of players, particularly at positions where they have the biggest needs.

The Bucs only have six picks in this year’s draft at the moment (with a compensatory seventh-rounder likely being added soon), but that didn’t stop them from meeting with more than 100 players at this year’s event.

Here’s every player (that we know of) they met with in Indy this week (via Pewter Report):

Orlando Brown comments on scouting combine as Bengals watch OL prospects

A funny, notable comment from Bengals OT Orlando Brown.

The Cincinnati Bengals figure to be heavily looking at offensive linemen at the scouting combine and in the 2024 NFL draft in general.

So it’s only fitting, then, that current Bengals left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. commented on the process as the scouting combine continued this weekend.

Brown took to Twitter with a funny comment about the process: “Food for thought, the mental is just as important as the physical when scouting OL. I’m also only tweeting this because I’m slow as (expletive).”

Nothing too wild, but on a day Bengals draft targets like Amarius Mims were putting on shows, it was interesting to see Brown’s note.

Those Bengals figure to be on the hunt for a right tackle if they lose Jonah Williams to free agency and could otherwise take a starter for any spot on the line that isn’t Brown’s left tackle spot or right guard.

Texas WR Xavier Worthy runs fastest ever 40-yard dash at NFL combine

Xavier Worthy passed John Ross as the fastest 40-yard dash in modern era of NFL combine.

Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy made history on Saturday. He passed wide receiver and former No. 9 overall pick John Ross with the fastest official 40-yard dash at 4.21 seconds.

We knew the former California native could glide. The high school track star was one of the faster players in college football in his three years at Texas. Nevertheless, we didn’t know he was all-time fast, and he proved to be that on the field for the 40-yard run.

What it means for Worthy is still to be seen. The elusive pass catcher has the ability to burn defenses like Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. And if the 40-time holds, it could be enough to raise his draft stock like Ross’ sprint did in 2017.

Texas has up to five players who could be drafted in the first three rounds, and Worthy is one of them. Perhaps the fastest receiver in the draft class could be drafted much earlier than expected.
