One of the most sought-after prospects in the 2024 recruiting class is expected to visit Texas this weekend. Inside Texas reports five-star cornerback Kobe Black is taking a return trip to Austin.

247Sports Composite ranks Black as the No. 3 cornerback prospect in the nation and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Texas.

Texas is trending in the right direction for the elite defensive back from Waco. The Longhorns received an On3 recruiting prediction in their favor for Black earlier this week.

Black spoke with On3 Sports about what stands out about Texas.

“Texas is a family atmosphere over there. They’re also building something, I see it. There’s a whole bunch of talent there and they’re getting developed well. I can see it.”

11 schools are in the mix in Black’s recruitment. He named Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Nebraska, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and USC as finalists in early April.

2024 five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo is setting up a busy summer of official visits. The Saint Louis native plans to go to Georgia, Michigan, Texas and Missouri.

The 247Sports’ composite lists Wingo as the No. 22 overall player in the nation and the No. 5 wide receiver in the class. He has more than 40 offers from programs all over the country.

Wingo is a two-sport star who excels on both the football field and the track. He possesses the elite top-end speed to stretch the field as a downfield threat and strong hands as a pass catcher. Wingo has the skills to be an immediate contributor at the college level.

The recruiting battle for Wingo is set to be a tight one. Georgia is the current favorite to land the elite pass catcher, but the competition can gain ground with the upcoming visits. He has no timetable for a commitment.

Texas is in the early lead for 2024 five-star WR Micah Hudson

Texas sits in good shape for five-star WR Micah Hudson.

Five-star Micah Hudson is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the class of 2024.

247Sports composite rankings list Hudson as the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 7 overall player in the nation. The five-star has 35 offers from some of the top programs in college football.

Hudson is one of the most skilled high school pass catchers in the 2024 cycle. He possesses great hands and sharp route-running ability that translates well to the next level.

He enjoyed one of the most productive junior seasons in Texas High School Football, hauling in 65 passes for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns, earning district MVP honors in the process.

Ohio State, Texas and Texas Tech are three schools in heavy pursuit of Hudson so far. He made it down to Austin for a recent visit to Texas’ junior day event in January.

The On3 Sports recruiting prediction machine has Texas in the early lead for Hudson.

Texas is all in on five-star Colin Simmons.

2024 edge rusher Colin Simmons is one of the most sought-after prospects in the entire country. Simmons is undeniably an exceptional talent, already picking up over 40 offers following his Junior season.

The five-star out of Duncanville is listed as the No. 5 player in the nation and the No. 1 in the state of Texas for the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Landing Simmons is a top priority for Steve Sarkisian and his Texas staff. The Longhorns are making a full-court press, having every coach on the team helping with Simmons’ recruitment.

Simmons mentioned to On3 Sports what that strong effort means to him.

“That shows that you really want me, honestly, if you have the whole coaching staff coming after me… it means a lot. That means you really want me and if you’ve got everybody pushing to come and get me, that shows me a lot.”

Texas struck big on the recruiting trail in 2023, signing four five-star prospects in the cycle. Simmons is a player who could headline another top-five class for the Longhorns.

LSU, Georgia and Alabama are other notable programs making a significant push for Simmons. Winning out for Simmons’ commitment is going to be no easy task.
