This massive cross-sport parlay made one bettor so much money

The first result was in April and the ticket just cashed out in June.

The best way to maximize your profits on a parlay is to add as many outcomes with favorable odds as possible. And sometimes you have to look to futures bets to stack up enough of those to make it worth your while.

That’s exactly what Instagram user @dpargs did with an incredible five-sport parlay that spanned three different months before being decided. And it was absolutely worth the wait, as he turned $100 into more than $19,000, according to FanDuel.

It all started April 24 with two simple moneyline bets — one on an English Premier League match between Liverpool and Everton and the other on an MLB game between the Giants and Nationals. A few additional results later, including both NBA conference winners and both French Open singles winners, the bet cashed out when the Colorado Avalanche clinched the NHL’s Western Conference title on Monday.

Surely, dpargs had ample opportunities to cash out earlier for a smaller sum. But his patience was rewarded with a small salary. Now, if we can get him to teach the rest of us his ways.

Watch Rafael Nadal’s glorious moment of joy after he won his 14th French Open

More like Rafa-Garros.

If someone told you Rafael Nadal was the best male tennis player ever, it’d be hard to argue. But between Roger Federer and Pete Sampras, among others, there might at least be a warranted conversation. When it comes to excellence on clay — specifically on the clay at the French Open — Nadal is unmatched.

On Sunday, Nadal beat Casper Rudd (a +390 underdog) in straight sets in the French Open Final. And while credit is due to Rudd for putting up a fight, he probably never really stood a chance against the King of Clay.

The win gives Nadal his astonishing 14th title (where he’s also never lost) at Roland-Garros. No one else in men’s tennis history has more than eight French Open titles. Here is the moment of pure jubilation for the Spaniard as he adds yet another Grand Slam trophy to his collection:

Amazing. After all his success, Nadal is still raw and emotional when he achieves the expected. Indeed, a man of the people.

In addition to his latest display of dominance on clay, Nadal now has 22 Grand Slam titles. That is the most all-time for men, and two more than his long-time rival/peer Roger Federer. Most of that incredible resume comes from the French Open, which means we could perhaps call it “Rafa-Garros” moving forward.

Iga Świątek had the best reaction to meeting soccer legend Robert Lewandowski after her French Open win

What a cool scene between these two Polish stars.

At only 21-years-old, Polish tennis star and current world No. 1 Iga Świątek might have a bright career ahead of her.

Świątek (-800) beat Coco Gauff to win the French Open on Saturday and claimed a second title in three years at Roland-Garros. With that kind of resume at her age, it’s certainly fair to say she’s established some staying power in the tennis world.

Another Grand Slam title aside, it seems like nothing could’ve prepared Świątek for the surprise that waited for her moments after her win: She met Polish soccer superstar/legend Robert Lewandowski — who was in attendance as her fan — immediately after the victory.

How awesome. A long-time Polish legend in Lewandowski congratulates an up-and-coming Polish legend in Świątek — now the first Polish tennis player in history to win two Grand Slam titles. Does it get any better than that?

As it turns out: Yes! Check out Świątek’s reaction, who is, again, one of the best tennis players alive, upon meeting Polish soccer royalty:

Look at those smiles. Amazing. There are few things better in sports than two talented people from the same country being huge fans of one another.

Coco Gauff gave a tearful, classy speech after losing to Iga Świątek in the French Open final

Gauff’s stellar run in Paris came to an end on Saturday.

It was an incredible run in Paris at the French Open this week for Coco Gauff.

The 18-year-old phenom from Atlanta entered the tournament as the No. 18 seed, but Gauff — the youngest player in the top 100 of the Women’s Tennis Association world rankings — announced herself as one of the biggest up-and-coming names in the sport with a run all the way to the finals.

Unfortunately for Gauff, her run came to an end against Polish star Iga Świątek, the top seed in the field and No. 1 ranked player in the world. She had won her previous 34 matchups, and she extended that streak to 35 with a two-set (6-1, 6-3) victory.

It’s the second grand slam title for Świątek, who also won the French Open in 2020, and the win marked her sixth straight title in what has been a dominant year.

For her part, Gauff took the disappointing loss with grace, offering a heartfelt and emotional speech.

“First, I want to congratulate Iga,” Gauff said. “What you’ve done on tour the past couple months have truly been amazing and you totally deserve it. Hopefully we can play each other in more finals and maybe I can get a win on you one of these days.

“I’d like to thank my team, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get this one today. But thank you guys for always supporting me, and hopefully, this is the first final of many… and most importantly, thank you (to the fans), you guys supported me even when I was down.”

Gauff’s run in Paris isn’t quite over just yet. She has also reached the final for the women’s doubles, and alongside teammate Jessica Pegula, she will take on the French team of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic on Sunday. Gauff reached the doubles final of the U.S. Open last year, and she’ll look to capture her first grand slam title this time around.
