Texas Longhorns make the cut for four-star defensive end

The Texas Longhorns were among the top 11 schools being considered for 2021 four-star defensive end Shemar Turner of DeSoto, Texas.

Shemar Turner of DeSoto recently released his top schools for consideration. The 2021 recruit has Texas among those schools. The Longhorns made an offer back in June of 2019. Turner would be a huge get for the team as they try and rekindle their pass rush that has been missing from the team for a few seasons now.

Texas football now has a five-star commit in 2021 recruiting class

Texas commit Ja’Tavion Sanders recently received his five-star rating by 247Sports Composite.

Texas is off to a hot start with the 2021 recruiting class.

Head coach Tom Herman is on pace to end the recruiting cycle with another top ten finish. The 2021 class currently includes talented four-star quarterback Jalen Milroe, four-star athlete Billow Bowman and newly-designated five-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders.

According to 247Sports Composite, Sanders is now the No. 1 athlete in the nation and the No. 21 overall prospect. With the recent updates of the Top247 and other industry rankings, Sanders is now labeled as a five-star prospect.

He is now the highest-rated commit in the 2021 class. In 2020, Texas signed two five-star prospects in running back Bijan Robinson and defensive lineman Alfred Collins.

The 6-3.5, 220 pound playmaker played both ways at Denton Ryan and earned first-team all-District 4-5A D-1 at defensive end. He also excelled at wide receiver, compiling 47 receptions for 763 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Sanders committed to the Longhorns last September, is one of the top commitments under Herman amidst his four-year tenure with the program.

Texas Offers 2021 Four-Star Cornerback

The Texas Longhorns have offered 2021 cornerback, Avante Dickerson. He is the top rated prospect in Nebraska and a four-star rated recruit.

With no shortage of talent available in the 2021 recruiting class, the Longhorns have set their eyes on top rated Nebraska product Avante Dickerson. He is a four-star cornerback and the number one rated recruit in the state. Dickerson announced his offer on Twitter.

Dickerson becomes the sixth cornerback to receive an offer from the Longhorns. He is also the third-highest rated cornerback to receive an offer from Texas. According to his 247 profile, he is projected to sign with his home state Cornhuskers per Crystal Ball predictions. The Longhorns are his 15th offer and his third from the Big 12 (Kansas State, Iowa State).

 

Texas Offers 2021 Four-Star Linebacker

The Texas Longhorns have offered Georgia four-star and top 50 prospect Smael Mondon Jr. Monday is the 8th outside linebacker offered by UT.

The Texas Longhorns have been ramping up their offers to the 2021 recruiting class ahead of National Signing Day on Wednesday for the 2020 class. Recently Texas offered 2021 four-star linebacker Smael Mondon Jr out of Georgia.

Mondon is the third-ranked linebacker in the nation and third-ranked prospect in the state of Georgia. The top 50 player nationally is projected to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs according to the Crystal Ball prediction on his 247 profile.

Mondon becomes the eighth outside linebacker offered by Texas for the 2021 class. They have one commit at the position with Derrick Harris Jr out of New Caney, Texas.

2021 WR Texas commit Ja’Tavion Sanders made a spectacular catch in the 5A state championship game. Sanders has been committed since Sept. 8.

It is state championship weekend for high school teams in the state of Texas. With all the games taking place at AT&T Stadium, big-time players have the opportunity to show off their skills in one of the best football stadiums in the world.

That is exactly what 2021 wide receiver Texas commit Ja’Tavion Sanders did, making a spectacular catch in the 5A Division 1 state championship game. Playing for Denton Ryan, the Raiders faced off against the Shadow Creek Sharks. Down 13 late in the fourth quarter, Sanders caught a touchdown in the corner of the end zone to cut the Shark lead to six.

Shadow Creek went on to win the game 28-22, but Sanders still had a huge season for Denton Ryan. Considered a two-way player, he also played on the defensive line this season. Listed at 6 feet 3.5 inches and weighing in at 220 pounds, Sanders has been committed to Texas since Sept. 8.

After a successful 2020 class, all eyes are turned to the 2021 class. Currently ranked third in the country, only trailing Notre Dame and Ohio State.
