Jets vs. Rams Week 15 game scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET

The Jets and Rams will play in Week 15 at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Jets and Rams officially have a time slot for their Week 15 game.

The NFL announced Wednesday that the Jets-Rams game is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX. Originally, the game time was listed as to be determined.

The Jets now have back-to-back West Coast games kicking off at 4:05 p.m. ET. New York is in Seattle this week to take on the Seahawks. The Jets will fly home before traveling west again to play the Rams.

The Jets initially planned on staying on the West Coast in-between their games against the Seahawks and Rams, but that changed because of COVID-19 protocols. Adam Gase also said that he doesn’t want his players trapped in a hotel for a week without seeing their families.

The Jets will fly back to Florham Park after their game with the Seahawks. They’ll practice at their training facility like they normally do before heading to Los Angeles.

Updated 2021 NFL draft order: Jets, Jags stay still after close games

The Jets and Jaguars almost won both their games this past week, but both found ways to lose.

The Jets and Jaguars were close to getting wins this week, but in the end both teams found ways to lose.

New York was up 28-24 on Las Vegas with 13 seconds left in the game when former Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams sent an all-out blitz, leaving undrafted rookie cornerback Lamar Jackson on Henry Ruggs III. Ruggs III hit him with a double move and Jackson bit, leading to a 46-yard touchdown to give the Raiders the win.

Jacksonville, meanwhile, had a chance to get a win in overtime against the Vikings. However, Mike Glennon threw an interception and the Vikings capitalized with a game-winning field goal.

With both teams losing, they remain in the same spots as they were entering Week 13. The Jets control the No. 1 pick, while the Jaguars own the No. 2 pick.

Cincinnati has the No. 3 pick at 2-9-1, while the Los Angeles Chargers have the No. 4 pick with a 3-9 record. Dallas currently holds the No. 5 pick at 3-8.

Jets injury report: Greg Van Roten, Ashtyn Davis could be done for season

Both Greg Van Roten and Ashtyn Davis could be out for the remainder of the year with injuries.

The Jets may have lost two key starters for the season in Sunday’s 31-28 loss to the Raiders.

Adam Gase said Monday that RG Greg Van Roten (toe), S Ashtyn Davis (foot) and S Bennett Jackson (hamstring) all could be out for the remainder of the season. He did not provide an update on RB Frank Gore, who left Sunday’s game to be evaluated for a concussion.

Josh Andrews took the place of Van Roten, while team captain Mathias Farley subbed in for Davis.

Meanwhile, LB Jordan Jenkins (shoulder) is day to day. The Jets are still evaluating him. So his status for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks remains up in the air.

Report: Frank Bush will be interim DC after Jets fire Gregg Williams

The Jets will name assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach Frank Bush as the interim defensive coordinator.

Shortly after firing defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, the Jets have found his replacement.

According to The Athletic’s Connor Hughes, the Jets will name assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach Frank Bush interim defensive coordinator with four games to go.

Bush was a defensive coordinator one other time in his 34-year coaching career. That came with the Houston Texans between 2009 and 2010. However, he was fired after two seasons, as Houston’s defense finished third-to-last in the NFL in total defense following the 2010 season.

Bush was also on Adam Gase’s staff in Miami as the assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach.

This all comes after Williams was fired for sending an all-out blitz in the closing moments of the Jets’ game against the Raiders on Sunday, leading to New York’s 12th loss of the season.

Jets personnel, specifically Marcus Maye, were highly critical of their former defensive coordinator for not putting them in a better situation to succeed. The Jets had the game won, but Williams took a big gamble by sending pressure.

We’ll see if Bush can make a difference as a defensive coordinator now with the season coming to a close in just a few weeks.

Jets lament painful loss to Raiders: ‘Players work way too hard to go through this [expletive]’

Adam Gase had the back of his players following the Jets blowing a late lead in a 31-28 loss to the Raiders.

Adam Gase had his players’ backs after the Jets blew a late lead in a 31-28 loss to the Raiders Sunday.

New York looked like it was going to walk out of MetLife Stadium with its first win. Instead, its dreams were crushed by a 46-yard touchdown from Derek Carr to Henry Ruggs III with five seconds left. The gut-wrenching play dropped the Jets to 0-12 on the year and had Gase feeling like his players deserved better.

“Our players work way too hard to go through this [expletive],” Gase said, per NorthJersey.com’s Andy Vasquez.

Jordan Jenkins, the Jets’ longest-tenured player, was at a loss for words after the heartbreaking loss.

“It just hurts,” Jenkins said, per The Athletic’s Connor Hughes. “That’s all I can say. It hurts.”

Sam Darnold added that the loss hurt more than any of the 11 others because the Jets have not had many opportunities to win. That wasn’t the case Sunday, and yet the result remained the same.

“We should’ve won,” Darnold said, per SNY.

The Jets were two plays away from capturing their first victory of the season. But on a 3rd and 10 from the Jets’ 46-yard line with 13 seconds left, Gregg Williams dialed up an eight-man blitz, leaving undrafted rookie Lamar Jackson alone on an island with the fastest player on the field, Ruggs III. Jackson took the bait on a double move by Ruggs III and gave up the game-winning touchdown.

“All I was thinking was don’t get beat,” Jackson said, per NorthJersey.com’s Andy Vasquez. “I don’t want to be the reason. But I was. I got beat. I’ll get better.”

After the game, Gase had trouble explaining Williams’ final play call. Marcus Maye, meanwhile, was outright critical of the defensive coordinator’s call.

“I thought we could have been in a better call at that stage of the game,” Maye said. He repeated variations of that multiple times.

Now it’s just hard to see the Jets getting a better chance at a win than the one they had on Sunday. Their next two games are against the Seahawks and Rams, both on the West Coast. The Jets then finish off with the Browns and Patriots. Three of those four teams are projected to make the playoffs, while the Patriots are still in the hunt.

Odds are, the Jets will look back on this season and remember Week 13 as their best shot at a win.

Jets vs. Raiders injury report: Josh Jacobs out George Fant & Pat Elflein questionable

Jets linemen George Fant and Pat Elflein are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Josh Jacobs is out for Las Vegas.

The Jets only have two players listed on their injury report for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.

George Fant (knee/ankle) and Pat Elflein (shoulder) are as questionable for the Jets’ Week 13 game. Both players are expected to suit up, though. Fellow offensive lineman Alex Lewis is out after being placed on the NFI list.

As for the Raiders, they will be without star RB Josh Jacobs (ankle), S Jonathan Abram (knee) and DT Maliek Collins (hamstring/ankle). DE Clelin Ferrell was originally ruled out by Jon Gruden but will play, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

CB Trayvon Mullen (illness), CB Isaiah Johnson (groin) and DT Maurice Hurst (ankle/calf) are questionable for Las Vegas.

It sounds like Bradley McDougald’s Jets tenure is over

Bradley McDougald’s shoulder injury will keep him out for the rest of year and will likely end his tenure as a Jet.

Bradley McDougald’s Jets tenure is likely over.

Adam Gase said Wednesday that he doesn’t expect the safety to come back from a shoulder injury “any time soon,” per the New York Post’s Brian Costello. McDougald is eligible to come off the injured reserve list, but he doesn’t appear ready. With only fives games left in the season and the Jets out of the playoff hunt, there’s no reason to rush McDougald back.

With McDougald set to become a free agent at the end of the year, his time as a Jet appears over after just seven games. McDougald recorded 36 total tackles, three pass defenses and one fumble recovery. McDougald had a 41.0 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus. That is considered replaceable on the PFF grading scale. McDougald was targeted 16 times and allowed 13 receptions.

McDougald was acquired in the trade that sent Jamal Adams to the Seattle Seahawks. He was expected to be a solid replacement for Adams, but it just didn’t work out that way. Once McDougald went out with the shoulder injury, it was hard to see him regaining his starting job with the Jets having high hopes for rookie Ashtyn Davis.

McDougald will hit the free agent market coming off the shoulder injury with hopes of finding a new team. It’s hard to envision the Jets bringing him back given their situation at safety.

Updated 2021 NFL draft order: Jaguars nearly give Jets breathing room

The race for the top pick in the 2021 NFL draft has come down to the Jets and Jaguars.

The Jets were nearly handed a gift from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While the Jets were crushed 20-3 by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the Jaguars almost pulled out a victory over the Cleveland Browns. Jacksonville lost 27-25 to Cleveland and were a two-point conversion away from possibly forcing overtime.

So with the Jets and Jaguars both losing, there’s still a one-game separation between the two teams in the race for the No. 1 pick in the draft. New York sits at 0-11, while Jacksonville is at 1-10. The only other team with a chance at catching the Jets and Jaguars is the Cincinnati Bengals.

They are 2-8-1 on the year and are 2.5 games back of the Jets for the top pick with five games left to play. The Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers are three games back with a 3-8 record, while the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers are 3.5 games back with records of 3-7-1 and 4-8, respectively.

Here’s a look at where the first round of the 2021 NFL draft stands after Week 12.

1.  New York Jets (0-11)

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-10)

3. Cincinnati Bengals (2-8-1)

4. Dallas Cowboys (3-8)

5. Los Angeles Chargers (3-8)

6. Philadelphia Eagles (3-7-1)

7. Carolina Panthers (4-8)

8. Washington Football Team (4-7)

9. Detroit Lions (4-7)

10. Atlanta Falcons (4-7)

11. Miami Dolphins (from Houston, 4-7)

12. Denver Broncos (4-7)

13. Chicago Bears (5-6)

14. Minnesota Vikings (5-6)

15. New England Patriots (5-6)

16. San Francisco 49ers (5-6)

17. Las Vegas Raiders (6-5)

18. Baltimore Ravens (6-4)

19. New York Giants (4-7)

20. Arizona Cardinals (6-5)

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5)

22. Miami Dolphins (7-4)

23. Indianapolis Colts (7-4)

24. Cleveland Browns (8-3)

25. Jacksonville Jaguars (from Los Angeles Rams, 7-4)

26. New York Jets (from Seattle Seahawks, 8-3)

27. Tennessee Titans (8-3)

28. Buffalo Bills (8-3)

29. Green Bay Packers (8-3)

30. Kansas City Chiefs (10-1)

31. New Orleans Saints (9-2)

32. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-0)

Adam Gase has no intention of benching Darnold: ‘Sam is the starter’

Adam Gase gave Sam Darnold his vow of confidence by keeping him as the Jets’ starting quarterback.

Adam Gase and the Jets are not giving up on Sam Darnold after his disappointing return to action on Sunday against the Dolphins.

Darnold, in his first game back from a shoulder injury, didn’t play any differently than he has in the past. He made some nice throws at times, but also made some head-scratching decisions that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from him. Overall, Darnold was 16-27 for 197 yards to go along with two interceptions and a 51 quarterback rating.

When asked if he has considered benching Darnold, Gase put that idea to rest.

“Sam is the starter and we need Sam to play as many snaps as possible,” the coach said, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

The Jets offense looked better in its previous two games with Joe Flacco under center, but he won’t be taking the reigns again unless Darnold suffers another injury.

These next five games are an evaluation period for Darnold to see if he can still be the Jets’ franchise quarterback. So far in Darnold’s career, he has yet to prove that he can be, and the Jets are currently in control of the No. 1 pick in the draft, which would surely be Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence.

Darnold also needs to be on the field for the rest of the season if the Jets want to trade him during the offseason. If New York plans on drafting Lawrence or another quarterback, it will look to flip Darnold elsewhere.

Darnold playing well would increase his trade value and give the Jets some extra draft capital to work with. By not playing Darnold at all, it tells other teams that the Jets are afraid that his value will drop — and that they don’t believe he’s all that good.

Gase and the Jets, however, have no plans of going in that direction.

Jordan Jenkins says Jets are fighting winless record: ‘No one wants to go 0-16’

Jordan Jenkins is not in the business of having a winless season.

https://embed.sendtonews.com/oembed/?SC=51hKrwVjKx-1053789-7498&format=json&offsetx=0&offsety=0&floatwidth=400&floatposition=bottom-right&float=on

Jordan Jenkins wants nothing to do with a winless season.

His Jets are now 0-11 following Sunday’s 20-3 loss to the Dolphins. New York is five losses away from being the third team in NFL history (2008 Lions and 2017 Browns) to finish a season 0-16. Given the Jets’ remaining schedule, going 0-16 is a legitimate possibility.

Just don’t tell Jenkins that.

“That’s a thing that no player, no coach, no staff, ever wants to be a part of,” Jenkins said, per the New York Post’s Zach Braziller. “No one wants to go 0-16. That’s something nobody in this league wants to do. We have to keep fighting to [avoid] that.”

Jenkins has been through some tough seasons since being drafted by the Jets in 2016. He’s never been a part of a winning season with the Jets and they have a combined record of 21-53 since he’s been with them. Now the possibility of 0-16 is staring him in the face.

Jenkins is a free agent after this season and it’s hard to envision that he would want to come back to the Jets again. So if these are his final five games with New York, he doesn’t want to go out being part of one of the NFL’s worst teams ever.
