The Lady Vols made a triumphant return to the diamond Monday night, blanking Tennessee Tech, 8-0, at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
It was the first game in eight days for No. 16 Tennessee, which had five contests either postponed or canceled due to COVID-19 concerns in its program.
The Lady Vols (29-6) last played on April 4 when they defeated Kentucky to win their first Southeastern Conference series of the 2021 campaign.
Tennessee was scheduled to host the Golden Eagles (15-19) on April 6 in a doubleheader, but that date was scratched while the Lady Vols dealt with the coronavirus.
UT pitcher Ashley Rogers (17-4) was dominant in the circle Monday as she surrendered just one hit in a five-inning complete game. She struck out five.
Offensively, Kiki Milloy went 1-for-3 and clubbed a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Lady Vols took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Chelsea Seggern’s RBI single plated Caitlin Hannon.
In the third, Rylie West had an RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch. Hannon also drew a walk with the bases loaded in the frame.
West, which went 2-for-2 and drove in two runs and scored once, had an RBI triple in the fourth.
Tennessee Tech’s lone hit in the contest was a single by Shelby Penning.
