Studs and Duds from Texas’ crushing loss to Iowa State

Which Texas players stood out the most against Iowa State?

For better or for worse, there were several Texas players who stood out yesterday in the heartbreaking loss to Iowa State.

The Longhorns seemingly had the game under control for the majority of the contest. Iowa State did not take the lead until late in the fourth quarter and Texas appeared to be the more talented side.

However, coaching got in the way of Texas’ momentum.

Texas head coach Tom Herman was severely outcoached by Iowa State’s Matt Campbell. Herman showcased questionable game management in the second half that the Longhorns weren’t able to overcome. His future in Austin is now uncertain at best.

In terms of the players, there were more studs than duds in this particular contest. The Longhorns played well overall, but just couldn’t close out the game when it mattered most. Texas’ chances of reaching the Big 12 championship game on Dec. 19 are now unlikely.

This was an unfortunate, heartbreaking final home game for the senior players who have put a significant amount of blood, sweat and tears into this program.
