Schools from the Pac 12 that the Big 12 should consider for expansion

With speculation about the Pac 12 possibly disbanding, members could be needing a new home. Here are four schools the Big 12 should look at.

Utah Utes

Current head coach: Kyle Whittingham

All-time record: 657-444-30

Major achievements: 8x Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champion, 5x Big Seven Conference Champion, 5x Skyline Conference, 6x Mountain West Conference Champion

All-time record vs Texas: 0-2

Outlook

Texas’ opponent in the 2019 Alamo Bowl, joining the Big 12 would continue Utah’s rise towards better and better conferences throughout the years. Only a member of the Pac 12 for just over nine years, the Utes have won eight or more games in seven of those seasons.

With an in-state rivalry with BYU more than likely needed, Utah would have a similar scenario as Iowa State does with their rival Iowa. Play in the first couple weeks of the season before Big 12 play begins.

Not having much history with other conference schools, Utah may be an outlier in the four expansion schools. However, the addition would bring a new market to the Big 12 with Salt Lake City and bring in revenue throughout the entire state of Utah.
