WR KJ Hill becomes Ohio State’s all-time reception leader

Ohio State’s KJ Hill, with a ten-yard reception in the third quarter, became Ohio State’s all-time receptions leader.

Ohio State came out of the gate scorching hot in the third quarter, and KJ Hill certainly helped.

On a drive where the Buckeyes eventually took the lead 24-21, Justin Fields completed a ten-yard pass to KJ Hill. That reception gave him 192 receptions which later taken up to 193 with the go-ahead touchdown.

Hill, who has been playing since he’s a freshman, took over David Boston’s record, who played just three seasons in Columbus in the late 1990s.

While Hill has had a relatively quiet career with Ohio State, he’s slowly become one of their most consistent threats. With that catch, Hill now has five receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown on the day.

Here’s the catch that gave him the record.

With over a quarter left to play, Hill will be looking to widen his lead as Ohio State’s receptions leader. He’s one reception, which will likely come in the fourth quarter, away from three straight seasons of 50-plus receptions.

Panthers player fined for hit that resulted in Trey Quinn’s injury

The NFL issued fines from last week’s game.

The Washington Redskins won’t have wideout Trey Quinn this weekend thanks to a concussion suffered a week ago during a win over the Carolina Panthers.

Quinn was back deep to field a punt in the second quarter and got hit in the facemask by the crown of an opponent’s helmet as he attempted to field the ball.

Panthers wideout DeAndrew White was fined $28,075 for his unnecessary roughness hit on Quinn. He wasn’t the only player from the game fined, as a Redskins player got hit in his wallet too for a hit he delivered during the game.

Quinn’s injury sidelines him this weekend and until he clears concussion protocol.

On the field after Oklahoma’s 30-23 overtime win over Baylor in the Big 12 Championship, there was a familiar face running around.

Brett Brown on Ben Simmons: ‘I want a 3-point shot a game, minimum’

Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown would like Ben Simmons to take one 3-point shot a game.

The Philadelphia 76ers romped their way to an easy 141-94 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night despite being down two starters to fully bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Washington Wizards on Thursday. It was a fully dominant game as the Sixers shot 63.3% from the floor and they made 11-for-26 from deep in the win.

Ben Simmons scored a career-high 34 points, dished out seven assists, and he knocked down a 3-pointer and that is the story that is on everyone’s mind. Considering Simmons had only made one 3-pointer in his career coming into the game and it’s something that will be focused on and dissected moving forward, it’s a big part of his game.

Coach Brett Brown was happy with what he saw and then he issued a proclamation for him.

“This is what I want, I want a 3-point shot a game, minimum,” said Brown. “The pull-up 2’s, I’m fine with, whatever, he’s open, but I’m interested in the 3-point shot.”

Simmons has been hesitant to take a 3-point shot since making his first one against the New York Knicks back in November and him making one on Saturday is something essential for them moving forward. Is it still overblown in Brown’s eyes?

“The drama of it is overblown,” the coach added. “The reality that he can shoot and ultimately, it will need to come into his game in a more pronounced way just from an attempt standpoint, that’s not overblown. I think the drama surrounding it is completely overblown.”

Simmons had worked on his shot all throughout the summer and, like with anything, this will take time. Taking a 3-pointer a game will be a nice step forward for him.

“I’m getting more comfortable,” said the point guard. “Obviously throughout time just getting more comfortable with the game, just learning my spots, and just adjusting,”

The All-Star also went to the foul line 12 times and made nine of them. That’s another area in his game that Brown would like to see grow.

“The mentality that he has when he’s turning corners and taking that long step, that gather step and bringing his shoulders to the rim, trying to dunk or finish tight will equal higher efficiency or getting fouled,” the coach finished with. “That’s the world that interests me the most, those two things. Then you say ‘OK what’s the number?’ I immediately throw out eight. That’s a number that I think is attainable.”

The Sixers will need Simmons to continue taking steps forward to continue their quest towards a championship. [lawrence-related id=20816,20799,20778]

The second round went similar to the first. Kunitskaya controlled a good portion of the fight by using her strength and clinch work. Ladd took down Kunitskaya with about a minute and a half left in the round but was unable to do much damage, as the Russian fighter did a good job tying up Ladd.

In the final round, Ladd came out looking to finish the fight. She connected with a big left had just seconds into the round. She then dropped Kunitskaya and ended things with heavy ground-and-pound.

Ladd successfully bounced back from her first professional defeat, to Germaine de Randamie at UFC on ESPN+ 13.. The 24-year-old fighter remains one of the most promising contenders in her division.

The Ohio State Buckeyes kicked off the second half with a bang as Jeremy Ruckert pulled down a game-changing one-handed touchdown.

He did it just when Ohio State was in need of a huge play as well. Ruckert, a seldom-used option for a dynamic offense, found himself wide open down the middle of the field.

Fields, who had missed a couple similar throws on the day, threw it a bit high, but it was catchable. And catch Ruckert did just that as he hauled down arguably one of the best catches of the year.

Here’s a look at Buckeyes’ second touchdown of the game.

Ruckert came into the game with just 12 catches and 120 yards on the season. This one will be one for the highlight reels for years to come if Ohio State can come back in this one and hoist a the Big Ten Championship trophy.

In sports, the old adage is that a tie is like kissing your sister. That’s what Cody Stamann and Song Yadong got to experience Saturday.

In sports, the old adage is that a tie is like kissing your sister. That’s what [autotag]Cody Stamann[/autotag] and [autotag]Song Yadong[/autotag] got to experience Saturday.

Stamann (18-2-1 MMA, 4-1-1 UFC) and Yadong (15-4-1 MMA, 4-0-1 UFC) settled for a majority draw in their bantamweight fight at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., in a fight broadcast on ESPN.

The broadcast crew of Jon Anik, Daniel Cormier and Paul Felder sure seemed to think Stamann had done enough to win the fight – especially considering Yadong had a point taken away in the first round due to an illegal knee. And the fans in Capital One Arena seemed to respond with a bit of surprise when Bruce Buffer read the scores, as well.

Check out the official scorecard above. What did you think of the fight? Who did you have winning? Sound off in our poll below.
