LSU baseball delivers offensive onslaught in run rule win over Central Connecticut

LSU had a nice Saturday cruise in Baton Rouge as it run-ruled Central Connecticut 26-4 in seven innings.

[autotag]Ty Floyd[/autotag] got the start on the mound for LSU and other than giving up a solo homer in the first inning, he had a pretty good day. His final line was 5.2 innings pitched, three hits, one run, and six strikeouts.

In the bottom of the first, LSU made sure that the Central Connecticut lead didn’t last long. [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] hit an RBI double to left field to score [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag] to tie the game. That was followed by [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag]’s first homer as a member of LSU as he hit a two-run shot to right field to make it 3-1 after the first inning.

In the bottom of the second, [autotag]Gavin Dugas[/autotag] hit a three-run shot to left field and Morgan scored on a sacrifice bunt by [autotag]Jordan Thompson[/autotag] to extend the lead to 7-1. The onslaught continued in the third inning as Dugas hit an RBI single and then scored on a wild pitch. Tommy Tanks then hit his second homer of the game as he hit a three-run bomb to right to make it 12-1 after three innings.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, [autotag]Paxton Kling[/autotag] hit an RBI triple down the left field line to score [autotag]Brady Neal[/autotag] and Morgan hit an RBI single to right to score Kling and make it 14-1. In the bottom of the fifth, [autotag]Cade Beloso[/autotag] hit a two-run homer to right field, Neal scored on a wild pitch, and [autotag]Josh Stevenson[/autotag] and [autotag]Jack Merrifield[/autotag] scored on a two-RBI double by [autotag]Ethan Frey[/autotag] to make it 19-1 LSU.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, [autotag]Josh Pearson[/autotag] hit an RBI single to score [autotag]Hayden Travinski[/autotag], [autotag]Alex Milazzo[/autotag] got an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Stevenson hit an RBI single, Merrifield got an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Frey hit an RBI single to left and then scored on a wild pitch, and Beloso hit an RBI single to right field to make it 26-1 as we headed to the seventh inning.

[autotag]Bryce Collins[/autotag] stayed on the mound to try to get the final three outs, but the inning didn’t go as planned as the Blue Devils scored three more runs on him. Eventually, the Tigers won big over Central Connecticut. The Tigers will play Central Connecticut State tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT in the third game of the weekend.
