Rutgers football recruiting: Ibrahim Barry gets offered

Rutgers sends out an offer to a Maryland wide receiver.

Maryland wide receiver Ibrahim Barry got an offer from Rutgers football on Monday, putting the Scarlet Knights among the early Power Five programs to offer the under-the-radar athlete.

Just how under-the-radar is Barry? As of Tuesday morning, the class of 2023 wide receiver doesn’t even have a recruitment page on either Rivals or 247Sports.

Last season as a junior at North County High School (Glen Burnie, MD), Barry had over 700 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. He was offered by Rutgers as a wide receiver.

He tweeted about the offer from the Big Ten program on Monday night:

Where do Rutgers, Georgia and Notre Dame stand with four-star Josiah Brown?

Long Island four-star safety Josiah Brown breaks down his recruitment ahead of visits to Notre Dame, Penn State and Georgia.

Josiah Brown is having a busy summer. He has been training this offseason with his high school teammates and has some recruiting trips planned as well.

Trips, the Long Island four-star safety says, that will take him to some of the biggest programs in college football.

“I’m supposed to go to Penn State. I’m going to Notre Dame. I’m going to try and get out to Georgia and a few others schools,” Brown told RutgersWire over the weekend.

Brown had planned to announce his college decision last month, shortly after his teammate and friend Dylan Braithwaite had committed to Rutgers. But he decided to ease back a bit and let his recruitment play out some more.

He is ranked the No. 181 player in the nation in the class of 2024 according to 247Sports. He is the top player in New York for the next recruiting cycle.

All the press, he says, is spurring him on to work even harder.

“Go hard get better,” Brown said on his offseason plans. “I know there’s a lot of attention, a lot of like offers so I have to train harder to be even better.”

Chinese basketball standout Qin Pang talks recent Rutgers offer

Qin Pang goes in on his recent Rutgers basketball offer.

Qingfang Pang might be one of the most intriguing prospects in the class of 2024, and Rutgers basketball just got involved in the international intrigue.

The offer for Pang came in over the weekend from Rutgers, who joined fellow Big Ten program Illinois in offering Pang. In addition, he has offers from the likes of Iona, Marist, UMass, Oregon, St. John’s and Rhode Island.

Currently, Pang is unranked by 247Sports.

A standout in China, Pang was raised in Shenzhen, located just north of Hong Kong.

On Monday, Pang broke down his recent offer from Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell and assistant coach Brandin Knight.

“Coach Steve and Brandin spoke to my guardian Tracy about the offer. When he told me the offer I was so excited about that,” Pang told RutgersWire.

“They didn’t talk about that too much, the coach said they loved my game. Keep it up, and they said they followed me for a while. I think there’s more talk in the near future.”

Pang plays for Christ the King Regional (Middle Village, N.Y.). He also plays for the famed (and historic) New York Rens.

This summer, he has shown a nuanced game. He is a good passer, a tenacious defender and a solid down-low presence.

His relationship with Rutgers, he says, will continue to grow.

“I didn’t have a chance to learn more about the program, but I will do more homework on learning more about the Rutgers basketball [program] after the EYBL season,” Pang said.

Rutgers basketball already has a highly-rated recruit in the class of 2024 and is building momentum after making consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. In early June, the Scarlet Knights received a commitment from four-star Gavin Griffiths.

[lawrence-related id=17057]

He is the highest-ranked recruit to commit to Pikiell while the head coach has been at Rutgers.
