“Things are going good,” Toure said about the Scarlet Knights. “I have a strong connection with the coaches at Rutgers.”

Rutgers has a new position coach at wide receiver, Damiere Shaw. The former Temple wide receiver has quickly earned a reputation as a very strong recruiter who connects well with players.

Shaw is also considered a strong technical coach who heavily emphasizes video work and technique in the daily coaching of his position group.

“I have a good relationship with coach Shaw and the coaching staff,” Toure said.

“He actually wants to see you get better and see you develop.”

Shaw was an offensive assistant for the past two years at Rutgers. Prior to that, he was the wide receivers coach at Fordham. He was also on staff at Baylor under Matt Rhule, who is now the head coach of the Carolina Panthers.

There is some momentum for Rutgers football, especially after receiving another big in-state commitment this past week.

Class of 2023 quarterback Sean Boyle gets offered by Rutgers football

Rutgers football just offered a quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class.

Sean Boyle became the first quarterback offered in the class of 2023 by Rutgers football. The three-star from Charlotte tweeted about the offer on Saturday afternoon.

Boyle committed to Charlotte last November. At the time of his decision, he made a social media announcement where he called himself “100% COMMITTED!”

The offer from Rutgers is the first from a Power Five program for Boyle. In addition to Charlotte, Boyle also holds reported offers from Arkansas State, UConn, Memphis and South Florida.

Conventional wisdom held that Rutgers wouldn’t offer a quarterback in this recruiting class after receiving a commitment from four-star quarterback Gavin Wimsatt last year.

Boyle has a good, strong arm. He makes quick and accurate reads, has good footwork and moves outside of the pocket well. He is a three-star according to Rivals.

Last season as a junior, Boyle completed 52-of-90 passes for 800 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He also had 179 rushing yards on 24 rushing attempts and two rushing touchdowns.

Boyle tweeted about the offer from Rutgers football on Saturday afternoon.

Three-star Dante Barone breaks down his recent Rutgers football offer

Dante Barone, a standout at the Hun, got offered by Rutgers football on Thursday.

Dante Barone was offered by Rutgers football on Thursday, adding another Power Five offer for the versatile and talented prospect from New Jersey.

A three-star recruit from The Hun School (Princeton, N.J.), Barone now holds 12 offers with four coming from Power Five programs (Boston College, Illinois and Syracuse had previously offered).

Barone is capable of playing tight end or defensive end. At 6-foot-3 and 270-pounds, his agility, speed and footwork are impressive on both sides of the ball.

According to 247Sports, Barone is the No. 23 player in the state in the class of 2024.

On Friday morning, he broke down his recruitment with RutgersWire and what the offer from Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano means to him.

[lawrence-related id=16217]

The versatile athlete also talked about what position he’s being recruited at by the Scarlet Knights:

“I’d been talking to the staff for a little while to see how I would fit into the program and after some great talks over the phone we decided it was best for me to get back on campus,” Barone told RutgersWire.

“I got to see the campus and facilities with some of the coaches with just my dad and I, instead of a bunch of recruits which definitely helped. Then watched some film with Coach Nunz (Nunzio Campanile, tight ends coach) about my role as an H-back. Finally, had a great conversation with coach Schiano and walked out with the offer.”

After the conversation and tour, there appears to be a clear-cut relationship forming between Barone and the Rutgers football coaching staff.

“I love the program and everything that it preaches, I feel like Rutgers football is definitely going to be at the top of the Big Ten,” Barone said.

Barone has a visit to Illinois played in mid-June.

On Thursday night, Barone’s teammate at the Hun, tight end Logan Blake, committed to Rutgers.

Rutgers football gets huge (and surprising commitment) from Logan Blake

Rutgers football landed a big commitment from three-star tight end Logan Blake on Thursday.

It was a good Thursday night for Rutgers football, who secured the commitment of Logan Blake. The tight end is one of the top players in New Jersey for the 2023 recruiting class.

Rutgers football got in on Blake with an offer mid-March. Now, the tight end prospect committed to the Scarlet Knights in a recruitment that wrapped up rather quickly for the in-state school.

Blake is set for a post-graduate year at The Hun School.

His verbal to Rutgers football is a massive win for the Scarlet Knights, who keep another top New Jersey player home and add a talent at a position of need.

The three-star tight end held four total offers from UConn, Duke and Pittsburgh as well as the Scarlet Knights. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 46 tight end in the nation and the No. 13 player in New Jersey.

Blake checks in at 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds.

Blake announced his commitment to Rutgers football via his social media on Thursday night:

The commitment of Blake gives Rutgers five verbals in the 2023 recruiting class. He is the third player from New Jersey in this class to commit to the Scarlet Knights.

[lawrence-related id=16210]

All three New Jersey commits to Rutgers football are top 15 in the state according to 247Sports. There is No. 13 Blake along with No. 4 JaSire Peterson (a four-star defensive lineman) and No. 11 John Stone (a three-star offensive lineman).

The commitment of Blake also points to a breakthrough at the Hun, a school that Rutgers has historically struggled to recruit over the years. Last season, four-star offensive lineman Jacob Allen, a standout at Hun, committed to Rutgers last spring.

[lawrence-related id=16192]

Allen was an All-American and the top player in the state according to Rivals.
