Georgia transfer Damon Wilson expected to commit to Big Ten team

Georgia Bulldogs edge rusher Damon Wilson is expected to transfer to a Big Ten team that made the College Football Playoff.

Georgia Bulldogs transfer pass rusher Damon Wilson is predicted to commit to Ohio State, per On3. Wilson is ranked as the No. 5 player and No. 2 pass rusher in the transfer portal according to 247Sports.

In a surprise move, Damon Wilson announced his decision to transfer on Jan. 6. Wilson was set to start in Georgia’s front-seven in 2025 and figured to be UGA’s top edge rusher.

Wilson was a five-star recruit that signed with Georgia in 2022. Ohio State also heavily pursued Wilson when he was in high school. In his two-year career at Georgia, Wilson totaled 22 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Those forced fumbles came in crucial moments against Tennessee and Texas.

Wilson is a big-game player and whoever ends up landing him will be able to develop him into a star and he still has two more years of eligibility.

Ohio State is currently the hottest team in college football right now. After losing to Michigan to end the regular season, the Buckeyes entered the College Football Playoff and demolished No. 9 Tennessee 42-17 and No. 1 Oregon 41-21. ESPN still slightly favors the Texas Longhorns to win the Cotton Bowl against Ohio State, but the Buckeyes has the better playoff resume so far. If they get Wilson, then that would greatly improve their outlook for 2025.

Georgia lost a ton of players in the front seven. Sam M’Pemba transferred to Texas A&M, Jamaal Jarrett transferred to USC, and Troy Bowles went to Michigan. Georgia players Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker, Smael Mondon, Warren Brinson, Nazir Stackhouse, and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins are all declaring for NFL draft. The Dawgs are going to have to address the defensive line and outside linebacker group in the transfer portal.

Georgia safety transfers Dan Mullen, UNLV

Georgia Bulldogs defensive back is transferring to the UNLV Rebels and Dan Mullen after spending one season at UGA

Former Georgia Bulldog safety Jake Pope has officially transferred to the UNLV Rebels. He will be coached by former Florida Gators coach Dan Mullen, a rival of Kirby Smart.

Pope spent his first two years with the Alabama Crimson Tide before transferring to Georgia for this past season. Pope didn’t record a stat in the four games he played.

The most memorable moment of Pope’s Georgia career was against Ole Miss, when he was recorded celebrating with one of his former high school teammates. Kirby Smart remarked on the incident, calling Pope “an idiot” before later apologizing. Pope entered the transfer portal on Dec. 15 and now will be playing in the Mountain West.

Georgia is losing a ton of defensive backs via the transfer portal and the 2025 NFL draft. Malaki Starks just declared for the draft and Dan Jackson is out of eligibility. Georgia also lost Julian Humphrey to Texas A&M, Justyn Rhett to Nebraska, and Daniel David-Sisavanh.

Georgia has been active in the transfer portal especially at defensive back. UGA picked up brothers Zachariah Branch (receiver) and Zion Branch (safety) from USC and Jaden Harris (safety) from Miami.

Georgia football lands starting Miami DB in transfer portal

Georgia football adds their third defensive back from the transfer portal, a starting safety from Miami.

Miami Hurricanes safety Jaden Harris transferred to the Georgia Bulldogs on Jan. 6th. The decision was announced via On3.

Harris played high school football at Riverwood High School in Atlanta, Georgia, before the 2022 three-star recruit signed with the Hurricanes. From the end of 2023, he’s been the Miami’s starting safety. He had a PFF grade of 57.5 (premium subscription needed) and allowed a passer rating of 89.4 when guarding receivers.

This is Georgia’s third transfer portal addition for the secondary. The Bulldogs added USC safety Zion Branch a few days ago and UAB transfer Adrian Maddox. Once again, the Bulldogs are adding a transfer portal addition that went to high school in Georgia. Harris is looking to make an immediate impact with the Bulldogs and will face significant competition for a starting role.

Despite adding Maddox, Georgia might still need some transfer portal additions on their secondary. They’ve lost Julian Humphrey (transferred to Texas A&M), Jake Pope (transferred to UNLV), Justyn Rhett (transferred to Nebraska), and David Daniel-Sisavanh to the transfer portal. Malaki Starks declared for the draft and Dan Jackson is out of eligibility.

Fourth starting Georgia lineman headed for 2025 NFL draft

Georgia football is losing a fourth starting offensive lineman to the 2025 NFL draft.

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild has declared for the 2025 NFL draft, posting his decision on X.

“I am extremely blessed to have been a part of this incredible opportunity and will be forever grateful to the University of Georgia. With that being said, I am excited to announce that I will officially be declaring for the NFL Draft, and I look forward to what the future holds. Forever a Dawg,” he posted.

Fairchild was a four-star recruit from Cumming, Georgia, in the class of 2020. He signed with the Bulldogs on Dec. 16, 2020. He played minimal snaps in his first two seasons, but starting in 2023, he became a bedrock of the interior offensive line.

In 1,427 career snaps, he recorded a PFF grade of over 73 (premium subscription needed), including a grade of over 87 on pass-blocking. In 2024, he earned a spot on the All-SEC second team.

Despite having a year of eligibility left, Fairchild joins offensive linemen Tate Ratledge in declaring for the draft. Right tackle Xavier Truss is also out of eligibility. Georgia is also expected to lose starting center Jared Wilson to the draft. Wilson accepted a Senior Bowl invitation.

Georgia’s offensive line is going to look very different since Monroe Freeling is the only starter set to return. However, center Drew Bobo (son of Mike Bobo), guard Micah Morris, and tackle Earnest Green III have each played significant snaps, so those linemen should all be expected to start in 2025.

Former Georgia Bulldog edge rusher commits to Oklahoma

Former Georgia edge rusher commits to Oklahoma

Georgia Bulldogs transfer Marvin Jones Jr. entered the transfer portal again on Dec. 11, 2024. After visiting multiple teams, including a recent visit with the Texas Longhorns, Jones. committed to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Jones, who was a five-star recruit in the class of 2022, originally signed with the Bulldogs. He played sparingly during his freshman year, racking up one sack before improving his tackling numbers in 2023.

Despite this, Jones entered the transfer portal in 2023, landing with his dad’s former team, the Florida State Seminoles. He had 25 tackles and four sacks with a Seminoles team that had a disastrous 2-10 season.

Now, he is transferring to his third team, the Oklahoma Sooners. Jones still has massive potential given his size and athleticism. With two more years of eligibility, Jones was ranked the No. 77 transfer in the country and the No. 11 edge rusher.

Oklahoma’s defense is coming off a solid season. The Sooners mainly need to retool on offense.

Another Georgia WR enters transfer portal

The Georgia Bulldogs are losing another wide receiver to the transfer portal in Anthony Evans

After Georgia’s loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl, former ESPN analyst David Pollack predicted 35 players could transfer out of the UGA.

A few Bulldogs have already transferred, and Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver/returner Anthony Evans III announced he’s joining them, according to On3.

Evans joins receivers Michael Jackson and Rara Thomas in the transfer portal, but Evans earned significantly more playing time than the other two as a special teamer. He fielded kicks and punts for the Bulldogs throughout the season.

Despite playing time on special teams, he seldom earned looks as a receiver, racking up nine receptions and 88 yards. He showed flashes against Mississippi State, racking up 42 receiving yards and 55 rushing yards.

Whoever ends up landing the second-year speedster will get an explosive athlete with returning experience. He has two more years of eligibility.

Georgia, meanwhile, has been in desperate need of wide receivers from the transfer portal. The Bulldogs unsuccessfully targeted transfers Dane Key, C.J. Daniels and Eric Singleton. Georgia recently landed a commitment from USC receiver transfer Zachariah Branch.

Georgia transfer WR target visiting ACC school

Georgia football appears to be losing ground on another elite transfer wide receiver target.

During the transfer portal period, the Georgia Bulldogs have watched plenty of their top targets, especially quarterbacks and wide receivers, land with other teams. However, there has been some hope regarding the potential addition of former USC Trojans wide receiver Zachariah Branch.

Unfortunately, Georgia is once again facing unforeseen competition for Branch. He visited the Miami Hurricanes on Jan. 2.

Zachariah is visiting colleges with his older brother Zion Branch, so the two could be a package deal. Georgia could use both. Zachariah, a former five-star, is the No. 2 receiver and the No. 4 player in the transfer portal. Zion is a former four-star safety who is ranked 15th among safeties in the portal.

Georgia has had a disappointing transfer cycle. It is the only SEC team to not have a transfer portal addition. However, acquiring both USC standouts would be huge for their 2025 outlook.

Georgia transfer WR target commits to Florida

Georgia football couldn’t land UCLA transfer standout WR

The Georgia Bulldogs are aggressively pursuing wide receiver transfer targets, particularly bigger-body receivers. J. Michael Sturdivant was one of those Georgia was interested in.

Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were unable to land the former UCLA standout. According to On3, Sturdivant committed to the Florida Gators.

Sturdivant was a four-star recruit when he committed to the California Golden Bears in 2021. However, he transferred to UCLA after two seasons with Cal. Through three seasons with both Cal and UCLA, Sturdivant caught 123 passes for 1,667 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Sturdivant will be on the other side of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Week 10 of 2025. He is not the first Georgia transfer target that will end up playing the Bulldogs in 2025 and he probably will not be the last.

Georgia is in the running for a few other wide receivers, including  Kentucky’s Dane Key. Kirby Smart and Georgia still don’t have a transfer commitment.

Elite UCLA transfer wide receiver visiting Georgia

Georgia is still receiving interest from top wide receiver targets including one of UGA’s latest targets from UCLA

The Georgia Bulldogs been on the hunt for wide receivers in the transfer portal window, which is set to close on Dec. 28. The Bulldogs may not be in the running for the top receiver transfer anymore, but they could be getting a visit from another one this week.

According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, there is growing belief that top wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant, who entered the transfer portal from UCLA on Dec. 10, will end up visiting Georgia this week. There’s no word on if the visit is official or unofficial. Sturdivant has one year left of eligibility.

The former four-star recruit transferred to UCLA from California in 2023. In three seasons, Sturdivant has 123 career receptions for 1,667 yards and 13 touchdowns.

According to Zenitz, some NFL scouts believe Sturdivant has NFL potential. He also visited Florida during the week.

Georgia is in need of wide receivers, since seniors Arian Smith, Dominic Lovett and Colbie Young could leave in the offseason. Georgia landed some talented incoming receiver recruits, but the Bulldogs could be better off getting proven pass-catching talent on the transfer portal.
