Studs and Duds from the Lions big win over the Panthers

Here are this week’s Detroit Lions Studs and Duds with their Week 5 over the Carolina Panthers bringing their record to 4-1 for the season

The Detroit Lions got their revenge after a devastating loss to the Carolina Panthers last year by defeating them at home with a score of 42-24. This win brought the Lions’ record to 4-1 for the season.

They surely had this game marked on their calendar, knowing they had to make up for last year’s loss, which essentially knocked them out of the playoffs. Despite missing some key players on offense, including Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs, the Lions’ offense did not seem to miss a beat, while their defense continued to put on a strong performance, making Bryce Young very uncomfortable. With their fourth win this season, the Lions are in complete control of the NFC North.

The Lions put on an impressive performance against the Panthers, but there are still some areas where they need to improve. Here are this week’s Lions Studs and Duds for their victory over the Panthers.

Garrett Bradbury returns as injuries mount

With an injury to starting long snapper Andrew DePaola, starting center Garrett Bradbury was seen taking practice snaps.

Minnesota Vikings starting center Garrett Bradbury has returned to the game after leaving earlier in the third quarter with a back injury. The injury, initially suffered in the first game of the season, cost Bradbury most of the season opener, along with the team’s next two games.

Bradbury was finally able to return this week, but his return was short-lived, as the injury reportedly was re-aggravated early in the second half. Bradbury’s return comes at a pivotal point, as it appears starting long-snapper Andrew DePaola has suffered an undisclosed injury.

DePaola was seen going into the medical tent and Bradbury in turn was seen practicing his long-snapping skills. If Bradbury is forced into special teams action, we’ll see how that affects the operation.

Losing DePaola could prove to be a costly injury if a poor snap costs the Vikings points at the end of the game. Only time will tell.

Studs and duds from Ravens 17-10 loss to the Steelers in Week 5

We’re looking at the Studs and Duds from the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5

Baltimore blew a 10-3 halftime lead, and the Steelers snapped a nine-quarter touchdown-less streak to take a 14-10 lead with 2:49 left in the fourth quarter.

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett hit George Pickens along the right sideline for a 41-yard catch and run over Marlon Humphrey to spark a comeback win at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

After a Lamar Jackson 19-yard completion to Zay Flowers put the Ravens at their 44-yard line, Pittsburgh pass rusher Alex Highsmith recorded a strip sack on Jackson and recovered it to put the game away.

With the Ravens set for preparation for a London matchup against the Titans, we’re looking at the studs and duds from the shocking 17-10 loss.

Travis Kelce leaves game with non-contact injury

This is a brutal blow for the Chiefs offense

After the Minnesota Vikings took the lead 13-10 on the Kansas City Chiefs, tight end Travis Kelce got hurt on the ensuing drive. He left the game, headed to the locker room and didn’t return.

When non-contact injuries happen, it oftentimes ends up in a season-ending injury. ACL tears and Achilles tendon injuries are the usual culprits. The difference with Kelce’s injury is that it doesn’t look like a soft tissue injury. It looked to happen to his foot.

He went down immediately and limped off the field. Before the half was done, the Chiefs medical staff took him to the locker room for evaluation.

As of this writing, we don’t have any updates on the seriousness of the injury.

Update: Kelce is back on the sideline with his helmet on. He is questionable to return.

WATCH: Jordan Addison touchdown puts Vikings late in the first half

Addison scores his third touchdown of his rookie season

The Minnesota Vikings scored their first touchdown of the day against the Kansas City Chiefs with an easy pitch-and-catch touchdown from Kirk Cousins to Jordan Addison.

Going into this game, the talk for everyone outside of Minnesota was about Justin Jefferson and how he would be utilized against an aggressive Kansas City Chiefs defense. Kevin O’Connell responded by getting the ball to Jordan Addison while all the attention went to Jefferson.

Addison leads all pass-catchers on the Vikings with four receptions for 47 yards and this touchdown.

This score puts the Vikings up 13-10 over the Chiefs who were favored all week to win this game. Minnesota’s game plan has worked for the most part as Kevin O’Connell has stayed aggressive and kept the ball in the hands of the offense. Their only problem was finishing the drive with field goals instead of touchdowns. Now, Minnesota has confirmed they can score right along with the high-powered Chiefs offense.

Stay tuned with Vikings Wire for live game updates.

Vikings trick play leads to touchdown drive

Ty Chandler’s run on the fake punt set the Vikings up to take the lead on the Chiefs

There are few things in football more beautiful than a well-executed trick play. For the Minnesota Vikings, that play came late in the second quarter on a fake punt just across the 50-yard line.

Minnesota lined up for what looked like a punt on fourth and two after coming up just short on third down. Instead, the ball was snapped directly to up-man and starting safety Josh Metellus, who quickly handed the ball to backup running back Ty Chandler. Chandler took the ball outside and converted to give the Vikings a big first down.

This play wound up to be the catalyst for a big Vikings touchdown drive, as the Vikings offense drove the ball downfield. Kirk Cousins eventually found rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison in the back of the endzone to give the Vikings a three-point lead late in the second quarter.

We’ll see in the second half in Kevin O’Connell has any more tricks up his sleeve as the Vikings try and take down the defending Super Champion Chiefs and move to 2-3 on the season.

Quick takeaways from the Lions Week 5 win over the Panthers

Postgame thoughts from Detroit’s Week 5 win over the Panthers

Sunday was a pleasant day in the park for a catfight. The Detroit Lions pounced all over the Carolina Panthers in Ford Field, mauling the winless visitors 42-24. The final score was not that close, either.

The Lions kept the positive momentum flowing after the mini-bye following Detroit’s Week 4 win in Green Bay back on Thursday Night Football 10 days earlier. Despite missing key pieces on both sides of the ball, the Lions quickly clawed out a big lead and never let the Panthers sniff hope of coming back.

Here are some takeaways from watching the Week 5 game in real-time.

Vikings lose Akayleb Evans to leg injury

Losing Evans would be a tough break for the Vikings

It’s been another up-and-down start for the Minnesota Vikings. They fumbled the ball on the first play of the game, leading to a Kansas City Chiefs touchdown on the ensuing drive. They fought back, thanks in part to a nice trick play, to go into halftime tied at 13. Now, it looks like they’ve lost one of their key defensive players, cornerback Akayleb Evans.

Evans initially went down late in the first quarter with an apparent knee injury. The injury was sustained on a short pass over the middle. Evans was injured on a short pass outside to Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney. He was injured again early in the third quarter, with what looked like an aggravation of the initial injury.

With Evans out, it’ll be up to Mekhi Blackmon to step up and provide coverage against this talented Chiefs offense. For a 1-3 team, the last thing they need is injuries, especially in the starting lineup.

It’s unclear at this time what the specific injury is, but the training staff was looking at Evans knee or leg. He is questionable to return.

Twitter roasts Vikings for fumbling on first play of the game

It’s truly unbelievable how often the Vikings are fumbling the football

The Minnesota Vikings had turned the ball over 11 times going into the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

On the first snap of the game, Vikings tight end Josh Oliver fumbled the football away after a 16-yard gain.

Needless to say, the reaction to this play after having fumbled away the ball seven times was incredibly frustrating.

Fans and analysts alike took to social media to express their frustration and dismay.
