NFL Week 6 TV broadcast maps

See what games air in your market as CBS airs one game and Fox airs two

Week six of the National Football League season is here and it’s been a great start to the season thus far.

The San Francisco 49ers look like the most complete team we have seen in a few years and the Philadelphia Eagles are the only other undefeated team.

The Buffalo Bills have been interesting this season looking like the best team in the league in their three wins and looking average in their two losses. The Miami Dolphins only loss is to the Buffalo Bills but have looked like a generational offense.

As we go into week six, CBS will be airing one game with Fox broadcasting a game in both time slots.

Minnesota Vikings’ 53-man roster going into Week 6

The Vikings 53-man roster has seen some changes since last week

The Minnesota Vikings are facing a pivotal game in week six against their NFC North division rival Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon.

It’s a huge game for the Vikings and Bears, as they both sit at 1-4 and a loss will crater their playoff chances. Both teams had aspirations of a playoff berth but it hasn’t looked like it’s going to happen to this point.

Despite their record, the underlying metrics for the Vikings look good. They have played good football outside of their 12 turnovers and -9 turnover differential. That fact gives them a glimmer of hope for a potential playoff berth.

Going into Sunday’s game, here is the Vikings updated 53-man rosters after making multiple roster moves this week.

Report card: Ravens suffer shocking 17-10 loss to Steelers in Week 5

We’re grading the Baltimore #Ravens after their 17-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5

The Ravens are no longer among the AFC’s elite teams and are now in second place in their division after a humbling 17-10 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.

Baltimore had to quickly regroup and board a plane for London, where they’ll battle the Tennessee Titans in the Week 6 version of the NFL’s International Series.

With preparation underway, here are the positional grades from the shocking defeat.

Did the referees swindle the Vikings?

One call doesn’t lose you the game, but it certainly didn’t help the Vikings on Sunday

You can’t blame the referees for a loss, but their influence can certainly make one more likely. That happened on Sunday afternoon for the Minnesota Vikings when they played the Kansas City Chiefs.

With six minutes left in the third quarter, the Chiefs went for it on a fourth and one from the Vikings 48-yard line. Patrick Mahomes threw a deep pass to Justin Watson and Harrison Smith was called for pass interference. That set up the Chiefs to score a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce.

The problem is this: was it actually pass interference?

The play shows Smith making contact with Watson and not looking back to the football. That is a big identifier when it comes to defensive pass interference.

However, as Will mentions in the above tweet, Smith is seen telling the ref that he was grabbed. In theory, that would prevent him from turning around to the ball. That call set up the Chiefs to score a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce.

Did the Vikings get swindled by the referees? It’s not the reason they lost, but it certainly didn’t help.

Kevin O’Connell moving on from Chiefs loss: ‘My job is to go attack this thing from this very moment forward’

O’Connell didn’t mince words after Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs

Despite putting themselves in a good position to make a run in the second half, the Minnesota Vikings couldn’t pull out the victory against the Kansas City Chiefs, losing by a score of 27-20.

With a 1-4 record, the Vikings are facing an uphill climb that they also experienced with a 1-5 start in 2020. Head coach Kevin O’Connell was asked about how long it takes him to get over the loss and move on to next week.

“My job is to go attack this thing from this very moment forward,” O’Connell said. “I’m going to remain — I think you guys know this about me now. I’m going to remain positive through and through because I believe in this group. I believe in our coaches. I believe in this organization. Results just have not gone our way, and I believe my job is to figure out, look very closely at all of these results and continue find ways to coach this team better, deploy our personnel better, give people opportunities to maybe prove some things to us to earn more ops and then continue to drive forward.

“There’s not going to be any questioning or doubt in my mind knowing that we’ve had four tough results. But I do feel like this team is able to compete and we’re going to do that every single week, and I believe in the end, we’re going to find out exactly what we are through writing our story for this whole season. And I look forward to the challenge of continuing to seek becoming that team.”

The one benefit for the Vikings is that they have all six of their divisional games coming up. If they win all six of them, it could help the Vikings come back in the NFC North.

Jared Goff believes the Lions are becoming a mature team

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff sees the teams growth and maturation as they did what they were supposed to do in their victory over Panthers

The Detroit Lions secured their fourth victory of the season by defeating the Carolina Panthers by a score of 42-24 in Week 5. Their performance has earned them recognition as one of the better NFL teams this season.

The Lions have built a deep enough team that they can overcome the absence of key players such as Amon-Ra St. Brown, Brain Branch, and Jahymr Gibbs, as evidenced by their seamless performance against the Panthers. The team’s culture and attitude have allowed them to take setbacks in stride and move on with a learn-and-forget mentality.

In recent years, the Lions have transformed into a competitive team that strives to do their best every week. They support each other and their coaches, as demonstrated by their willingness to reassure their head coach when needed. Despite being the clear favorites in this game, there may have been some lingering doubt after last year’s defeat to the Panthers. However, the Lions left no doubt in this game and delivered a stress-free win.

Even the team’s quarterback, Jared Goff, has noticed the positive changes in the Lions’ culture compared to past years.

“I think we’re becoming a more mature team and understanding when we play a team that, with all due respect to the, they’re 0-4, and we feel like we can do some good things against, we do some good things against them. Again, with all due respect, we’ve been there; we know what that feels like,” Goff told reporters after the game. “But when we’re becoming this team we hope to be, when we play a team we want to get after, we have to go do it. And I thought we did a good job today.”

Failures are the stepping stones to success, and this team has faced many hurdles to reach where it stands today. This is why we feel so proud when we see the Lions perform well lately. Though the old Lions fans may still feel anxious about the team’s stability, these Lions are determined to go far and will do all that is required to achieve their goals.

Vikings lose Justin Jefferson to hamstring injury in tough loss to Chiefs

Another tough loss drops the Vikings to 1-4

The Minnesota Vikings fought valiantly but ended up losing the game against the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 27-20.

On the first play of the day, the Vikings shot themselves in the foot. Josh Oliver fumbled the football to the Chiefs, and they took advantage with a touchdown on the ensuing drive.

Overall, the defense did a good job for the Vikings. They pressured Patrick Mahomes while keeping him contained. Yes, Mahomes still made plays, but the defense made him earn every inch.

The Vikings suffered multiple injuries on the day. Garrett Bradbury, Justin Jefferson, Akayleb Evans, Andrew DePaola and T.J. Hockenson all left the game with injuries at one point. Jefferson (hamstring) was the only player not to return to the game.

Kirk Cousins played his best game of the season. The stats don’t show it, but he was excellent in maneuvering the pocket and finding players down the field.

The turning point of the game was a fourth-and-1 in the third quarter with Kansas City ahead 20-13. Mahomes threw deep to Justin Watson, and Harrison Smith was charged with defensive pass interference. That drive resulted in a Travis Kelce touchdown, which ended up being the difference in the game.

Right now, the Vikings sit at 1-4 with a lot less hope for a playoff spot than they had going in. They face the fellow 1-4 Bears in Chicago next week.

Vikings Justin Jefferson questionable to return with hamstring injury

For the third time this season, Justin Jefferson left the game banged up

The injuries just keep coming for the Minnesota Vikings, and this one is the biggest one yet, as wide receiver Justin Jefferson is questionable to return with a hamstring injury.

Jefferson was injured on a touchdown drive that brought the Vikings back within one score against the Kansas City Chiefs. If the Vikings are going to make a comeback, they may have to do it without their best offensive player.

Jefferson hasn’t been much of a factor for the Vikings today, as he’s only mustered three catches for just 28 yards. Despite the paltry numbers, you have to figure that Jefferson would have figured heavily into the Vikings plans down the stretch.

If Jefferson can’t go the rest of the game, the onus will be placed squarely on the shoulders of Kirk Cousins to find other weapons he can depend on. That likely means an increase in targets for tight end T.J. Hockenson and rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison, who already has one touchdown today.

Dan Campbell gives injury updates on Jahmyr Gibbs and Emmanuel Moseley

Campbell acknowledged “it certainly didn’t look good” for Moseley but was far more optimistic about Gibbs

In an unfortunate development, the Detroit Lions career of cornerback Emmanuel Moseley might have lasted exactly two plays. Moseley made his Detroit debut in Sunday’s Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers, finally back on the field after tearing his left ACL in Week 5 of the 2022 season with the San Francisco 49ers.

On just his second play of the season, Moseley went down with a non-contact injury to his right knee. It did not look good for the veteran corner, something echoed by Lions head coach Dan Campbell after the win.

“Yeah, Moseley we’ll know more tomorrow,” Campbell said. “I know on tape or the replay it certainly didn’t look good, but we won’t know a ton until we get the MRI, which will be tomorrow afternoon.”

Moseley’s injury came just one day shy of the one-year anniversary of his left knee injury, which also happened in a game against the Carolina Panthers.

Detroit rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs did not play on Sunday. He was inactive after suffering a hamstring injury in Friday’s practice session. Campbell offered up a more optimistic update on Gibbs’ outlook.

“Gibbs, we’ll see. Didn’t feel like it was awful, but it was just enough to where we felt like we needed to sit him today. So, we’ll see,” Campbell said.

The head coach didn’t say anything about RB Zonovan Knight, who left the game with a left arm injury.
