USA vs. Serbia picks and predictions

The value isn’t necessarily here to make this a full-unit play, but the USMNT is bringing some talented players to take on what should be Serbia’s 2nd-string team. Both countries will feature young, promising talent.

The USMNT will feature some consistent names though, especially in the defensive side with M Kellyn Acosta and D Walker Zimmerman at camp. With several forwards likely getting time and making their first start, especially the highly-anticipated first cap for Zendejas, the forwards could struggle to find much comradery.

Nonetheless, there isn’t much impressive about this Serbian roster, and I’d back the USMNT here to hold them without a goal.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-122).

Given the turnover from the World Cup rosters for both teams, it doesn’t make much sense to use those performances to justify betting the Under.

At the same time, that helps justify it as the USMNT has 13 players making their 1st cap which could bode poorly for stringing together qualify attacking sets. The drama surrounding the USMNT and management could also bring unneeded distractions to the club.

None of Serbia’s players were on their World Cup roster with 3 MLS players highlighting the roster. The talent won’t be there to consistently get through what should be a strong USMNT defense.

City is the better side, and with Chelsea starting 3 defenders on Thursday that were over 30 years old, they may have some tired legs taking the pitch in this battle.

Chelsea hasn’t shown enough attacking prowess to suggest they’ll get on the board, and with Haaland just 22 and spry, I expect the City attack, which has the most goals in the EPL, to continue thriving.

The value isn’t necessarily there, but this is the best play on the moneyline. City has the talent, and Haaland provides enough offensive support to break through a stiff Chelsea backline.

Chelsea is also down several key players, including D Reece James and M N’Golo Kante, 2 players who have critical roles for the club. Chelsea’s inability to score, going against the team with the 3rd-fewest goals against, is another reason to back City here.

Man City has 24 more goals than Chelsea on the season, and the Blues may not be able to play from behind if they concede 1st. Back MANCHESTER CITY (-155) for a small unit given the value.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+105).

This is my favorite play given the value, but considering the odds, I still wouldn’t make a full-unit bet here.

Despite losing some 1st-team members, Chelsea will still have D Cesar Azpilicueta and D Thiago Silva, 2 of the most experienced at their position in the world. The last time Chelsea went over this total in any competition was a 2-1 Champions League win on Nov. 2.

They have given up just 18 goals this season, the 4th-fewest in the league. City also has an elite defense, headlined by D Kyle Walker. This is both sides’ 1st league match in which it had faced a top-10 side since the World Cup break, so there could be a sluggish start to it as well.

Ultimately, back the UNDER 2.5 (+105).

Simply put, Arsenal is the better and healthier side, and that combination, despite being on the road, should be too much for Chelsea.

Chelsea is unbeaten at home, but they haven’t played a top-tier side with their best performances a 2-2 draw against Tottenham and 1-1 draw against Man U. In 2 of their 5 home matches (West Ham and Leicester City), Chelsea had fewer expected goals.

Couple it all together, and I’d back Arsenal as the more dynamic, talented squad.
