WATCH: Former Ohio State star Braxton Miller in Buckeye themed Coca-Cola Christmas commercial

Former Ohio State star Braxton Miller shared a Coca-Cola Christmas commercial, but with a Buckeye flavor.

‘Tis the season.

We always get some interesting videos and moments around this time of year — it being Christmas and all. And we are no doubt seeing some of those things making the rounds now.

On that note, a new Coca-Cola commercial has just been shared, and it features former Ohio State quarterback and wide-receiver Braxton Miller. You know the human highlight-reel well. He might be the most dynamic playmaker to ever suit up for Ohio State under center. He could make a guy miss in a telephone booth as they say, and make a SportsCenter highlight out of a 3-yard run.

His NFL career didn’t quite play out like he wanted, but it’s still great to see his face as an Ohio State ambassador in the commercial that’s no doubt geared towards Buckeye fans.

Click on the below and enjoy. You’ll hear a Christmas classic with a scarlet and gray spin (pun intended).

WATCH: Michael Thomas hands out Christmas gifts at hospital

Former Ohio State and current New Orleans Saints wide-receiver Michael Thomas was captured handing out Christmas gifts at a local hospital.

Some guys get it. Michael Thomas would be one of those guys.

It would be easy to rest on what he’s accomplished since coming into the NFL. They guy has worked his tail off to become the most feared wide-receiver in the league today after a very good, but not great career at Ohio State.

I mean, just this weekend, he set the all-time single-season NFL receptions record. And if you were someone that thought Thomas would blow up as he has in the NFL after his career at Ohio State, then you’re not being entirely truthful.

But credit to Thomas for making himself into what he is today. It hasn’t changed his mindset though. As much of a superstar as he’s become, he’s still taking time out in the community for outreach, remembering where he came from, and giving back.

Watch as Thomas visits Oschner Health hospital in New Orleans to hand out gifts and visit with patients. The video is courtesy of the Saints official Twitter page.

This has to make you proud to be a Buckeye. It’s not all about the on-the-field success, but who you are as a person off of it as well. Thomas appears to be a superstar in both arenas.

Charles Woodson on Michigan closing the gap with Ohio State: “We’ll make it up. We’ll be fine.”

Michigan legend Charles Woodson told TMZ Sports that the Wolverines will close the gap on Ohio State and be fine.

Every once and awhile we get a sound bite from former Michigan player Charles Woodson. To be fair, he’s usually pretty sensible when it comes to his analysis after games and isn’t afraid to hold the Wolverine program accountable for the play on the field.

Other times though when he’s not feeling deflated after watching arch rival Ohio State dismantle his alma-mater again, Woodson can put on the pom-poms and say things with emotion. Of course, you wouldn’t expect anything else from the former Michigan legend, just like you wouldn’t expect anything different from a former Ohio State great when it comes to cheering and believing in his team.

After another defeat at the hands of the Buckeyes, much has been discussed about the gap in talent between Ohio State and Michigan. TMZ Sports caught up with Woodson and asked him the same thing. Will the Wolverines ever close the gap on OSU.

“Yeah, we’ll make it up,” said Woodson. “We’ll be fine.”

He was then asked if Jim Harbaugh should be there for another year, and if the job were ever to come open if he’d be interested.

“Well he’s (Harbaugh) there as long as I know, so we’re going to work with that,” the former Heisman winner said … “I can’t coach. I can play. I can’t coach, I play.”

But perhaps more fitting than anything was a loud O-H cheer as Woodson turned away and continued to walk on away from the questions from TMZ Sports.

Ohio State Recruiting: Final Thoughts On The 2020 football Class … So Far

For all intents and purposes, the 2020 recruiting class for the Ohio State football team is in the books. Here’s some final thoughts.

The Ohio State football 2020 recruiting class is done … for now. It was a consensus top five class and there are some significant pieces to like across the board. There might be a change here or there when the traditional signing period finishes up in February, but for all intents and purposes, what you see is what you get for this recruiting cycle.

The Buckeyes may have turned their attention to the Fiesta Bowl, but now that the weekend is over, it feels like a good time to take stock in the haul that was the 2020 class Ryan Day and company brought in during the early signing period.

So off we go with some thoughts and observations.

Next … Thoughts and observations on the 2020 Ohio Sate football recruiting class

Ohio State vs. Clemson: Campus Lore breaks down the defenses in the Fiesta Bowl

Campus Lore analyst Aaron Murray takes a look at whether Ohio State or Clemson has the defensive edge in the 2019 Fiesta Bowl.

We are now inside of a week before the big College Football Playoff semifinal between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl. There’s so many storylines and angles on this matchup, but one that will play a critical role obviously is how each defense fares.

Both are a top five unit, and both have the ability to make game-changing momentum plays. It might be via the turnover, sack, tackle for loss, or a big third down stop. Either way, the team that can stymie the explosive offense on the other side has the best chance to dictate pace of the game and move on to New Orleans.

Former Georgia quarterback and Campus Lore analyst Aaron Murray took some time to break down both defenses, and if you’re an Ohio State fan, you might be happy to listen to what he has to say.

When asked about which defense he’s leaning towards, Murray first sounded hesitant.

“I really don’t know,” said Murray. “I mean you look at these defenses, and they’re both very talented. Obviously we know about Chase Young on the outside — he’s an absolute terror over there. And Clemson, they’re really good defensively. They lost a ton of guys to the NFL last year, but they just find a way to reload on that side of the football.”

But then Murray seemed to hone in on an advantage for the Buckeye defense.

“But when you look at both defenses, you look at both teams overall, who has Clemson faced,” Murray said. “I mean they played great defense and we can say this is an elite team on both sides, and an elite defense based on what we’ve seen, but what offense have they gone against where you can say ‘look, they stopped that elite offense, or they stopped that offense.’ There is no one on their schedule that probably really should have been close to beating them. And no one really was besides North Carolina in that one scary game early in the season.”

Then Murray shifted to Ohio State.

“Ohio State is tested,” said Murray. “They’ve played great defenses — they’ve played great offenses. They’ve played teams that run the ball like Wisconsin. They’ve played teams that want to throw the football. I mean, they have done it all. I think that gives Ohio State a little bit more confidence headed into this game both offensively and defensively.”

Well, we’re soon to find out when these two go at it in the desert night on Saturday.

We should still be ignoring the NET rankings

The Ohio State Buckeyes fell from No. 1 to No. 2 in the most recent NET rankings. That’s fine, because we should still be ignoring them.

The Ohio State Buckeyes fell from No. 1 to No. 2 in the most recent NET rankings. However, like I said about last week’s rankings, they should still be entirely ignored.

The NCAA makes a big mistake in trying to release these rankings so early. They want fans to know the process and understand what’s going on, but all this does is add frustration and confusion.

The NET rankings are entirely based off the results of games played. The problem is, with a formula meant to rank wins and establish resumes after about 30 games, the numbers after just 12 games are meaningless. They’re volatile and will swing wildly.

For example, right now the NET rankings have Kentucky at No. 74 and North Carolina at No. 89. North Carolina might end up with a relatively low ranking due to struggles without Cole Anthony, but Kentucky is clearly suffering from a small sample size here. And, of course, both those teams played Ohio State.

Those are merely two examples out of dozens of problems with the NET right now. So the rankings might currently have San Diego State ahead of Ohio State. That’s fine. The rankings are meaningless. Ohio State being No. 2 is meaningless–it doesn’t mean that the Buckeyes actually have a worse resume than San Diego State. And, if course, it doesn’t mean that the Buckeyes actually have a better resume than dozens of other teams.

Latest AP Basketball Poll is out. Where is Ohio State?

The Ohio State basketball team has made a significant jump in the latest AP Top 25 Basketball Poll. Find out where it’s ranked.

The latest AP Basketball Poll is out, and the Ohio State basketball team has jumped all the way up to No. 2 in the country.

The Buckeyes would most likely have already been No. 1 if not for a loss last week to Minnesota just before the poll was released. Since then, Ohio State has blown away a Southeast Missouri State team, and then took care of business against a very good top ten Kentucky squad on the national stage.

The jump comes after Ohio State had fallen down to No. 5 in last week’s release.

The only team sitting on top of the Buckeyes now is a talented 13-1 Gonzaga club. Just behind OSU and rounding out the top ten is Louisville (3), Duke (4), Kansas (5), Oregon (6), Baylor (7), Auburn (8), Memphis (9), and Villanova (10).

Ohio State is currently on a bit of a break for the holidays, but will next be in action on a so-called neutral court against West Virginia on Sunday in Cleveland.

Report: Urban Meyer potential target for Cleveland Browns head coaching job

National reports have surfaced that former Ohio State head coach could be a top target for the Cleveland Browns should the job open up.

Well, here we go again. Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer’s name has surfaced again for a head coaching job that isn’t even open. Meyer made news earlier this year when he conveyed interest in the Dallas Cowboys job should it come open, and lately, his name came up for the Washington Redskins job.

Now, with all the struggles in Cleveland, there are reports circulating that the Browns could target the three-time national champion coach as their next head man.

Despite having acquired talent during the offseason to go along with the promising Baker Mayfield at quarterback, the Browns have significantly underachieved this year once again. Many point to new head coach Freddie Kitchens as the problem, but he’s still gainfully employed right now with the organization, and there would have to be a move there before any coaching search would be undertaken.

That, apparently is beginning to become more of a reality with what we’re seeing from the dysfunctional team heading down the stretch of the season.

The news was originally reported by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports and cites league sources familiar with the situation in the Browns’ front office.

The report draws on the close relationship between Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam and his ties with Ohio rationale for his potential of making the jump to the NFL.

Of course, as always, any move back into coaching would have to be very appealing to an Urban Meyer who has seemed to enjoy his off-the-field activities and analyst role with FOX and BTN. That remains to be seen with the health concerns that were used as reasons to step away in the first place.

This may not get any more legs, but if it does, we’ll be on top of it. Oh, and when any other coaching vacancy becomes open, we’re sure Meyer’s name will be floated out there again.

And we’ll probably (sigh) once again report it in case it becomes a thing.

Where is Ohio State basketball in Andy Katz’s updated college basketball power rankings?

Ohio State receives high ranking in Andy Katz’s latest college basketball power rankings.

If the Ohio State basketball team isn’t the most pleasant surprise of the 2019-2020 season so far, I don’t know what program is. The Buckeyes have already put together a very impressive resume that includes wins over four of the last eight national champions — including Villanova, North Carolina, and Kentucky.

In fact, you literally can’t find a better body of work anywhere in the country, and when it comes time to select teams to be a high seed in the NCAA Tournament in March, these wins will likely hold up against anyone’s even throughout the rest of the season.

March Madness’ and the Big Ten Network’s Andy Katz has taken notice as have other analysts across the country. He has moved Ohio State up to No. 2 in his latest Power 36 college basketball rankings behind only Gonzaga.

Auburn, Oregon and Duke round out the top five, with the rest below.

As good as Ohio State has been, we must all remember that there’s still a long way to go in the season, and the Big Ten is a deep, tough, and a hard conference to navigate. There will be other losses on the schedule, but right now OSU has sent a message to the entire college basketball universe that it’s a team to reckon with this year.

Drew Brees has the highest praise for former Ohio State WR Michael Thomas after record-breaking performance

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees had the highest of praise for former Ohio State WR Michael Thomas after record-breaking game.

In case you missed the big news, former Ohio State and current New Orleans Saints wide-receiver Michael Thomas broke the NFL’s single-season record for receptions in a season Sunday. Even better, he did it in a winning performance for his team.

It’s clear that Thomas has turned himself from a bit of an afterthought recruit at Ohio State, to a good second or third option pass-catcher in college, to now arguably the best wide-receiver in the NFL. But make no mistake, it didn’t come without hard work.

Thomas and Saints quarterback Drew Brees spoke with FOX Sports’ Sara Walsh after the record-breaking performance, and one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game heaped exceptionally high praise upon Thomas.

When asked what he would say to Thomas now that he’s broken the single-season receptions record, Brees didn’t hold back.

“Well first off congratulations, and there’s nobody that deserves it more — there’s nobody that works harder for it.” said Brees. “What you see out here on Sundays is a culmination of so much hard work during the week. Every rep to this guy is a Super Bowl rep. And that’s what I love about him. I mean he’s such a model for perfection and how to be a pro. So, I love playing with this guy, and I know when I need to make a play …”

I don’t know about you, but I don’t know how you could say anything more positive than that about a guy you play with. And the fact that it comes from a future Hall of Famer at quarterback likely means more than anything to Thomas.

Way to make Buckeyes all around the world proud Michael.
