Joe Burrow has his own steak y’all. He has now accomplished it all.

Former Ohio State and LSU quarterback Joe Burrow has done it all. He now officially has his own steak named after him.

Former Ohio State backup QB and LSU Hesisman-winning signal-caller Joe Burrow is having himself a year to remember. Solidify the starting spot as LSU’s starting quarterback? Check. Win the SEC? Yep. Check. Win the Heisman Trophy? Well, yeah check that off too. How about a national championship? Just check it all.

That’s quite the 2019 campaign folks, and you have to feel pretty good for him, even if he did take his talents to sweet tea, grits, and crawfish territory.

But nothing says Burrow has arrived more than getting an edible piece of meat named after him. You got it — Joe Burrow now has a steak of his own. If you didn’t see this, the guy that obliterated SEC passing records was in Columbus, Ohio this past week trying out the new “Steak Burrow” at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse.

So that’s what you get when you combine Cajun and Midwest culture eh? Looks pretty tasty to me, but of course the owner had to let the first taste go to none other than Burrow himself.

Looks like it passed the test to me. But we have to wonder what happened to the dress code here. A sweatshirt hoodie at a high-end steakhouse? I guess when you win everything under the sun you can roll up into any restaurant with the outfit of your choice, right Joe?

That sounds just like a Cajun Buckeye. Oh, and if you are around those parts, remember that some of the proceeds of this mouth-watering steak goes to the Athens County Food Pantry. A nice touch.

Ohio State men’s hockey drops second game of series against Minnesota, gets swept

The Ohio State men’s hockey team got swept in Minneapolis by dropping the second game of the series against Minnesota Saturday night.

This weekend is nothing close to what the Ohio State men’s hockey team had in mind. It left for the Twin Cities in first place in the Big Ten, but lost two games in convincing fashion and now sit in 3rd place behind Penn State and Michigan State who both battled to overtime Saturday night.

The contest tonight was an ugly one and it got started early. After a bad turnover in its own zone, Ohio State gave up a quick goal just five minutes in to go down 1-0. It stayed that way through twenty minutes of play, but then the Gophers scored two more goals in the second period, heavily outshooting the Buckeyes to take a 3-0 lead into the second break.

With the way this one was going, a three-goal lead seemed insurmountable. OSU got one back though when Caron Meyer scored on the Power Play to cut the lead to 3-1. But that would be it. The Gophers added one more on a power play for good measure, and the final score read 4-1.

Minnesota had a decided advantage in shots early on, but Ohio State tried to push back with a little momentum. Still, the Gophers had ten more shots on goal (33-23) and made good on scoring chances.

With the loss, Ohio State falls to 15-8-3 overall, and 8-6-2 in the conference. It’s a hard road from here on out with the next series’ against Michigan on the road, Penn State at home, and Michigan State away. Yeah, that’s a cruel schedule, but it does allow for a great opportunity to do damage head-on with teams above it.

Todd McShay has three Ohio State players going in the first round of his 2020 NFL Mock Draft

Toddy McShay has not two, but three Ohio State players going in the first round of his 2020 NFL Mock Draft. Who are they?

We’ve already told you what Mel Kiper thinks of a couple of Ohio State players will land in the 2020 NFL Draft, but where there’s Kiper, there’s also Todd McShay. Both guys are experts on the NFL Draft, sometimes even sparring with each other in the same ESPN takes.

Just like Kiper, McShay has also come out with his first official 2020 NFL Mock Draft, and he’s a little more bullish on Ohio State with three players going in the first round as opposed to the two Kiper noted.

You probably can guess the first two. Like most mock drafts out there, both Chase Young and Jeff Okudah are top five picks. McShay — like Kiper — has Young going No. 2, and Jeff Okudah being taken off the board at No. 3. So who is the third guy?

How about Ohio State’s single-season leader in rushing yards? Yep. McShay has running back J.K. Dobbins being selected very late in the first round at No. 31 by the San Francisco 49ers. That’s just barely inside the 1st round, meaning Dobbins is a borderline first-rounder, but also keep in mind that McShay will likely come out with his latest projection soon, and Dobbins had himself a day in the 2019 Fiesta Bowl after this list was first compiled.

So will Ohio State get two or three players taken in the first round? We’ll have to all tune in on April 23 to find out. Either way, there’s sure to be a slew of Buckeyes walk across the stage yet again.

Ohio State football 2020 receiving corps will is going to be ridiculously good

The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a reenergized roster this coming season, led by what could easily be the nation’s best receiving corps.

The Ohio State football team will lose critical pieces of their team to the 2020 NFL Draft. Chase Young, J.K. Dobbins and Jeff Okudah will all be leaving after their junior season.

However, Ohio State is losing more than just those three. Seniors like K.J. Hill, the university’s all-time receptions leader, and Binjimen Victor will be leaving, potentially continuing their career in the NFL.

The absence of those two will deplete the team’s receiving corps.

Justin Fields shouldn’t worry though.

He’ll be getting all the help he needs in the form of an upgraded Garrett Wilson, experienced Chris Olave, and extremely talented inbound receiving class.

Wilson was the No. 2 receiver in the Class of 2019. Julian Fleming is the No. 1 receiver in the Class of 2020. Aside from Fleming, Ohio State is bringing in the fifth-best and tenth-best receivers in the class according to 247Sports.

The key to unlocking Wilson, Fleming, Gee Scott Jr., and Jaxon Smith-Njigba is Chris Olave. Olave accounted for 12 touchdowns and 840 yards last season. He’ll get a lot of attention from opposing defenses in 2020.

While he may remember the 2019 season for the heartbreak in the College Football Playoff semifinal Fiesta Bowl, there’s no denying that he’ll be the unanimous leader of the nation’s most talent receiving corp in 2020.

Those five receivers will take this offense to a new level, hopefully, one we’ve yet to see at the collegiate level in a long, long time.

Ohio State vs. Clemson Fiesta Bowl top game of year according to ESPN

ESPN named its top 100 games of 2019, and Ohio State’s loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl took the top spot.

It was another fantastic college football season in 2019. We can look back and feel some regret for sure, but the reality is that there were a lot of really great games that made us fall in love with this game all over again, even if Ohio State didn’t quite finish the deal on the national stage.

ESPN has looked back to and named its top 100 college football games of the year, and you might suffer from some triggers when we tell you what game landed at No. 1. Yep, you guessed it. The worldwide leader in sports programming has named the Ohio State vs. Clemson matchup in the Fiesta Bowl as its top contest of 2019.

Here’s what Bill Connelly said about the game that will live on as a missed opportunity forever in Buckeye history.

It was the only game so good I decided to score it like a 12-round title fight.

It featured star moments from virtually every one of the game’s stars: Trevor Lawrence’s absurd 67-yard gallop. Justin Fields’ huge fourth-down, fourth-quarter touchdown pass. Travis Etienne’s touchdown explosions. J.K. Dobbins’ 68-yard run (followed soon after by a 64-yard run). Isaiah Simmons’ tiptoeing interception. A hurry and half-sack (later overturned) by Chase Young with Ohio State trying to seize control of the game in the second quarter.

It contained a lingering waft of controversy thanks to refs having to make two of the hardest types of calls (a less-than-100 percent-clear targeting call and a vital catch-or-no-catch ruling). That never hurts for making a lasting impression.

It gave us all the plot twists a great game should feature — a 16-0 start from Ohio State, a 21-0 run by Clemson, three second-half lead changes (with a fourth prevented only by a last-minute interception) — and on a national semifinal stage. The most talented players in the country, playing in one of the most important games, and putting on a lasting show. Can’t ask for much more than that from college football.

The game was definitely entertaining, and I’m sure all the rest of the country loved watching it. As for me and I’m sure a large contingent of Buckeye fans, it left me a little sick to my stomach.

Hopefully there’s jubilation to remember next time Ohio State is put in the same position. But yeah, you have to agree with Connelly on this one — it was a highly entertaining game with drama and intrigue. Especially as an unbiased observer.

WATCH: Ohio State wrestler Sammy Sasso rides out win over No. 1 in overtime

Ohio State wrestler Sammy Sasso had one gutsy wrestling match Friday. Watch as he rides out a win over No. 1 ranked Pat Lugo of Iowa.

The Ohio State wrestling team couldn’t do much damage against a loaded Iowa Hawkeye club, but there was one moment Friday night that Buckeye fans, coaches, and teammates could be very proud of.

Sammy Sasso has been a competitor at the 149 lb. weight class, but last night he was facing the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the weight class, Pat Lugo. Do yourself a favor and find video of the entire match if you can because Sasso was a scrambling, defensive-minded grappler that kept finding a way to wiggle his way out of the shots Lugo kept going for.

So much so that at the end of two overtimes, the score was knotted at one point apiece for an escape by both men — headed for a tiebreaker. Sasso was able to escape during his :30 down on the mat, and then had to somehow hold off a stronger and more seasoned wrestler. All Lugo had to do was escape to tie it up and the match would continue.

But Sasso would have none of it. Watch as he rides out Lugo, refusing to let him out of his grasp for a full thirty seconds for the win. This is all heart and determination. Quite amazing really.

Keep in mind that there were three reviews that either took points off or could have put them on the board for Lugo, but they all went against him. But they were the right call for any objective viewer.

These are the types of moments that make wrestling fans out of the casual observer, and you can bet that Sasso’s ranking will most likely rise after this showing.

Ohio State men’s hockey loses to Minnesota Friday night, drops out of first place

The Ohio State men’s hockey team fell 6-3 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers Friday night.

Life in first place was short-lived for the Ohio State men’s hockey team. Just a week after securing the top spot in the Big Ten by taking 3 of 4 possible points in a weekend series with Notre Dame, the Buckeyes couldn’t keep it going in game one against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Things started off good enough for the Buckeyes Friday night. They struck first when Quinn Preston lit the lamp with 8:54 left in the first period. The Gophers struck back at the end of the first though, and things were tied after twenty minutes.

OSU again grabbed the lead in the second when Sam McCormick got one past the Minnesota goaltender for a 2-1 lead with 13:21 left in the period. But that’s when the Gophers started to find their groove.

Minnesota scored two more goals before the period ended, and suddenly Ohio State found itself down a goal after two periods of play. The Gophers then got two more goals, one of the flukey variety that bounced off the glass and was originally called a no-goal, but overturned. Suddenlty, OSU was in a 5-2 hole.

In garbage time a couple goals were scored by both sides until the game ended with a 6-3 Minnesota win. With the loss, Ohio State drops out of first place to Michigan State but gets another shot to get it back tonight in game two against the Gophers. A win, and a Michigan State loss to Penn State would mean the Buckeyes are again in the driver’s seat.

WATCH: Ohio State linebacker Malik Harrison goes high for INT of Jalen Hurts at Senior Bowls

Ohio State linebacker Malik Harrison went high to pull down an interception of Jalen Hurts in the Senior Bowl.

The annual Senior Bowl provides another opportunity for outgoing senior college football players to make one more impression before the NFL Draft. Ohio State receiver Terry McLaruin made the most of the spotlight last year, and now several other Buckeyes are getting their chance.

Linebacker Malik Harrison may have just had a memorable moment that could stick out for the NFL types come draft day. Watch as Harrison drops back in coverage after Jalen Hurts gets hit by the pass rush and sails one high in the air. Harrison high-points the ball and comes down with it for an interception to give the North side the possession again.

That’s a pretty athletic play for a linebacker going up in traffic with defensive backs. Well done by a guy that has my favorite last name.

Ohio State Wrestling falls to No. 1 Iowa, Sasso upsets top ranked wrestler

The Ohio State wrestling team went to No. 1 Iowa and battled hard, but still lost the dual-meet.

It was always going to be an uphill battle, and the Iowa Hawkeyes showed their might in a dual-meet match against Ohio State Friday night. The Buckeyes battled, but the depth and talent on the Iowa side was just too relentless and too much to overcome.

Iowa got out of the gate quickly by winning the first three matches with relative ease to go up 9-0. Kollin Moore was able to get the Buckeyes on the board finally at 197 lbs. to make it 9-3, but Iowa struck back in the first session at Heavyweight to go up 11-3, losing a point because of a dress infraction.

The thriller of the night was at 149 lbs. Ohio State’s Sammy Sasso showed some unbelievable defense and scrambling ability against the No. 1 ranked Pat Lugo. The match went to double-overtime and then a tiebreaker where Sasso was able to pull off the upset by getting an escape in the first :30, then riding things out in the second :30.

But that would be the highlight of the night. Iowa pressed on with some major bonus points, winning seven of ten matches and a 24-10 team victory.

Ohio State football NFL Draft eligible players and likely landing spots

The 2020 NFL Draft is still almost three months away, but it’s never too early to look at where Ohio State football players will maybe go.

Since the advent of the modern-day NFL Draft, Ohio State has seemingly always been a monster when it comes to churning out players at the next level. And it’s not just the draft in general, but at the top end as well. In fact, the Buckeyes lead the country in the number of first-round draft picks in the history of the annual spectacle.

But players of varying degree and promise continue to walk across the stage with a scarlet and gray swagger. This year is no different. We know the 2020 NFL Draft is still nearly three months away, but it’s time to turn the page and look ahead to what OSU players are eligible and what round they might go in.

So let’s get going with our potential first-rounders.
