Le’Veon Bell vs. Tremaine Edmunds/Matt Milano
Jets running back Le’Veon Bell hasn’t had the season that many New York fans would have wanted. Bell has 228 carries, 748 yards, an average of just 3.3 yards per carry, one of the worst in his career. Bell has been hampered by a bad offensive line and inconsistent quarterback play, but more should be expected of the third-highest paid running back in the NFL.
His first matchup against the Bills this season, he wasn’t very productive in the run game. He had 60 yards on 17 carries, an average of just 3.7 yards per carry. He provided a spark for their passing attack though, he had six catches, 32 yards, and one touchdown.
In Week 1, the Bills’ defensive line forced Bell to slip outside, where he met either Tremaine Edmunds or Matt Milano. Both of these linebackers showed their speed, discipline, and exceptional tackling.
They both met Bell one-on-one during the game, both bringing him down before he could make an explosive run. The two finished with a combined 18 tackles, these two players will need to have another exceptional game if they want to stop Bell, again. Once Edmunds and Milano leave the game, Julian Stanford and Corey Thompson will likely have to slid in their roles.
