Sooners offensive tackle Anton Harrison declares for the 2023 NFL Draft

Oklahoma Sooners left tackle Anton Harrison declares for the 2023 NFL Draft. From @john9williams

With the 2022 regular season over, the departures have begun through the transfer portal, and now the Oklahoma Sooners have their first NFL draft declaration for the 2023 draft cycle.

Starting offensive tackle Anton Harrison will forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft. In three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners, Harrison played more than 1,000 snaps, starting each of the last two seasons.

He was the highest-graded player pass blocker each of the last two seasons, according to Pro Football Focus. Over the last week, Harrison’s been selected in the first round of the Draft Wire’s two-round mock draft and was ranked No. 30 on Pro Football Focus’ big board.

Harrison made his draft declaration known on social media saying, “First and foremost, I’ll like to start by thanking God for the gifts and opportunities that he’s given me to play this game. To my mom, dad, and family, thank you for all your love and support. I am so blessed to have you with me throughout this journey. To my teammates, my brothers, over the past years you guys have turned into my brothers and I’ve built bonds that’ll last forever and I want to thank you guys for pushing me to be the best every day.”

Harrison continued saying, “I want to thank the Oklahoma coaching staff, past and present, for the opportunity and believing in me to play and grow on and off the field at this university.

“Lastly, Sooner Nation, thank you. I am thankful for you guys packing the Palace every Saturday. The atmosphere and energy you bring to every game is second to none.”

The first-team All-Big 12 selection concluded by saying, “After discussing with my parents and family, I have decided to forego my senior season and declare for the 2023 NFL draft. Thank you to every single person who supported me.”

Harrison will look to be the next star offensive lineman from the Oklahoma Sooners, following active greats Trent Williams, Lane Johnson, Creed Humphrey, Daryl Williams, and Orlando Brown.

Jacob Sexton, Jake Taylor, Tyler Guyton, or Aaryn Parks will be looked at to fill the void left by Anton Harrison’s departure.

PHOTOS – Heat at Celtics: Boston survives Miami’s best, win 134-121 in front of royal guests

Some of the best plays captured in images from the Celtics’ 22nd game of their 2022-23 campaign.

The Boston Celtics might have had a pair of special guests at TD Garden Wednesday night for their tilt with the Miami Heat, but even that could not distract the Celtics from earning another win and further cementing their status as the NBA’s top team, Boston beating Miami 134-121 in front of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Superstar forward Jayson Tatum led all scorers as he put up a season-high 49 points along with 11 rebounds, star shooting guard Jaylen Brown chipped in another 26 points, 7 boards, and 5 assists, and reserve floor general Malcolm Brogdon added another 21 points and 6 rebounds off of the bench.

Let’s take a look at some of the best plays captured in images from the Celtics’ 22nd game of their 2022-23 campaign.

Jayson Tatum scores 49 as Boston beats Miami 134-121

Jayson Tatum put on a show for the visiting Prince and Princess of Wales, scoring 49 points as the Celtics beat the Heat 134-121.

Jayson Tatum erupted for 49 points as he and the Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat 134-121 at home Wednesday night, extending the club’s win streak to five games. This was Bostons third consecutive game scoring 130 or more points, the first time doing so since 1968.

Seven Heat players scored in double-figures – Miami certainly made things difficult for Boston. The Celtics, however, finished the game shooting 55.4% from the field as a team. As good as Miami was on offense, Boston was just a bit better. A monster performance from Tatum simply sealed the deal.

With the Prince and Princess of Wales sitting courtside, the Celtics pulled out another big win for their esteemed guests. Here’s what you may have missed from the Celtics’ big win over the Heat.

Tony Pollard vs other pending RBs, look at Cowboys 2023 free agents

Here’s how Tony Pollard ranks compared to the other top free-agent RBs, and how the Cowboys’ other top pending free agents have done in ’22. | From @KDDrummondNFL

When the season was just a few weeks old, the opening week of October brought our first real look at the Cowboys’ pending free agency class. Dak Prescott had missed three contests, but the Cowboys found themselves a surprising 3-1 at the time. The backup quarterback laid the foundation of a change of perspective. Just three weeks prior, pessimistic Dallas fans were preparing for the worst season in recent memory. Since that point, dreams of what the 2022 season could be have only expanded, with the club having a realistic shot of the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Almost two months later seems like a great time to check back in on the free agent class to see how their seasons have developed. Have any of the players improved their prospects of a sizable contract? Who might be less expensive to try and retain? Here’s a look at the shifts in market for the Cowboys’ pending free agency class of 2023, starting with RB Tony Pollard.

Kyler Murray had harsh words for Patrick Peterson after the ex-Cardinal shared scathing criticism

Murray would’ve at least liked if Peterson could talk to him first.

It’s been a tough season for the Arizona Cardinals and Kyler Murray. A year after qualifying for their first postseason since 2015, the Cardinals are just 4-8. They’re at the point where their effort is being openly questioned on national television. Meanwhile, Kliff Kingsbury continues to show he doesn’t seem to have many answers to fix their problems. As a result, they’re one of the NFC’s bottom feeders as we near the stretch run of the 2022 season.

With controversy surrounding Arizona and Murray — who has struggled in his fourth season as a pro, especially compared to a past high standard of play —  some close to the QB might feel compelled to share their thoughts on him. Enter Murray’s former Cardinals teammate Patrick Peterson.

During a recent appearance on CBS Sports “All Things Covered” podcast, Peterson — who now plays for the Minnesota Vikings — discussed his opinion of the ongoing chaos in Arizona. When the discussion came to the point of who might be to blame for Arizona’s failures and who might be getting scapegoated, Peterson openly called Murray selfish, saying, “Kyler Murray don’t care about nobody but Kyler Murray.”

Murray would catch wind of Peterson’s searing criticism, and he wasn’t happy. Given their relationship as past teammates, he called the cornerback out for making such an insinuation of his character in public:

It’s hard to disagree with Murray’s general sentiment. If Peterson felt this way about Murray, he probably could’ve mentioned this to him when the two were teammates from 2019 to 2020. Airing this apparent dirty laundry out in public would understandably and likely upset many people. (Note: Peterson’s Vikings defeated the Cardinals 34-26 earlier this year.)

After falling way short of some’s preseason expectations, Murray and the Cardinals are currently on a bye week. Having ideally addressed their issues, they’ll return to face the Patriots at home in Week 14. It’ll be a tall order to work their back from the apparent brink, but it would be one heck of a way for Murray to stick it to Peterson indirectly.

Though something tells me this incident might only be the start of a quarterback-cornerback beef.

Ohio State basketball battles hard, loses to Duke on the road

Ohio State tried to claw back in the second half, but couldn’t pull it out in Durham. #GoBucks

The Ohio State basketball team was back in action Wednesday night with a challenging road contest at Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Despite battling hard in the second half, OSU was unable to climb completely out of a ten-point halftime deficit, eventually falling to the Blue Devils 81-72.

Things started out well for Ohio State. The Buckeyes started quickly and had a modest 8-2 lead early on, but Duke did Duke things at home and went on a run midway through the first half to take control of the game and entered the locker room up 39-29 with defensive tenacity and great unselfishness on the offensive end.

But OSU wouldn’t go away.

Several times, Ohio State pulled to within five points in the second half, but each time, Duke got a defensive stop and was able to extend the lead back out. The game never really felt like the result was too much peril with the game sticking around a seven to ten-point lead for most of the second half.

What led to most of the problems with allowing Duke to run out to a double-digit lead were turnovers and an inability to hit open 3-pointers, two things the Buckeyes needed to go in their way in order to spring the upset in Durham. Ohio State often times dribbled into traffic in the first half and finished the game with 16 turnovers and made just 3-of-13 from beyond the arc.

There were some bright spots though for a team with a bunch of young and new faces. Zed Key had himself a day, scoring 21 points in brute fashion, making good on 7-of-9 shots from the field, mostly from the post. He also finished the game with eight rebounds.

Three other Buckeyes finished in double figures as well. Justice Sueing (12), Bruce Thorton (11), and Sean McNeil (14) all logged more than ten points each en route to 46.3% shooting from the field. The team fought and battled hard in the second half and can look to build on the effort, but the offensive possessions will have to be more efficient going forward, and the defensive rotations more solid.

With the loss, Ohio State falls to 5-2 on the season and will next be in action at home vs. Saint Francis PA on Saturday.

Michigan State football DB Kendell Brooks declares for 2023 NFL Draft

Kendell Brooks has declared for the 2022 NFL Draft

Michigan State’s defense was ravaged with injuries throughout the 2022 fall. Someone who was forced to step up was Kendell Brooks, who made the most of his opportunity.

Brooks started his career at division-two North Greenville University, before transferring to Michigan State.

After only recording 5 tackles in 2021, Brooks had a breakout campaign in 2022. After not starting the first two games of the season, Brooks was thrusted into a starting role. Brooks finished with 100 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 3 pass defends and 3 forced fumbles.

Now, Brooks plans to pursue a professional career.
