The letter closes with these three questions/requests: 1. What are the anticipated financial consequences of China Central Television’s (CCTV) continued ban on the airing of NBA games? 2. Please outline the scope of the NBA’s relationship with Chinese state-owned enterprise Alibaba. 3. The NBA reportedly continues to operate a training center Xinjiang, one of the world’s worst humanitarian zones. What steps is the NBA taking to shutter this location?

49ers jersey numbers for 2020 rookie class

The 49ers’ undrafted free agents and 2020 NFL draft picks all have jersey numbers.

The 49ers’ roster continuity between 2019 and 2020 leaves relatively little room for their 15-player rookie class to make a significant impact this season. They drafted only five players and signed 10 undrafted free agents.

There were jobs aplenty for UDFAs while the club was rebuilding through 2017 and 2018, but as the roster has filled with talent, the opportunities for first-year players has dried up some.

Still, San Francisco’s track record with first-year players, both drafted and undrafted, leaves room for some optimism that the club will have a handful of difference makers in their 2020 rookie class.

Here’s the number each rookie will wear according to the 90-man roster on the team’s website:

5- QB Broc Rutter

7- WR Chris Finke

11- WR Brandon Aiyuk

35- RB Salvon Ahmed

38- RB Jamycal Hasty

43- S Jared Mayden

47- LB Jonas Griffith

49- CB DeMarkus Acy

49- RB Josh Hokit

65- DL Darrion Daniels

68- OL Colton McKivitz

81- WR Jauan Jennings

83- TE Chase Harrell

89- TE Charlie Woerner

99- DT Javon Kinlaw

One oddity that comes with 90-player rosters and limited numbers available at each position is that a player on each side of the ball might share a number. That’s the reason undrafted cornerback DeMarkus Acy and undrafted fullback Josh Hokit are both assigned No. 49.

There’s a chance those numbers change at some point — specifically for the UDFAs. First-round picks like Kinlaw and Aiyuk will likely stay in their No. 99 and No. 11 jerseys. A UDFA who makes the club will have an opportunity to snag a discarded number once the 90-man roster thins out.

The only player on the club without a jersey number listed is left tackle Trent Williams. However, he wore No. 71 during his 10 years in Washington, and he posted a photoshop of himself in a No. 71 49ers jersey. Barring a dramatic change of heart by the time the season kicks off, it’s likely Williams will roll into 2020 with his usual 71 on his back.

Brady, Wilson under fire as Joe Burrow appears to ponder offseason practices

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow could join names going against recommendations.

[jwplayer fbbypsUl-ThvAeFxT]

It sounds like Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow would still like to put some summer work in with guys like A.J. Green and Tee Higgins before training camp.

In fact, Green and Burrow are still trying to make this happen even though the NFLPA advises against it.

But it should be noted big-name quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson have all defied the recommendation from the NFLPA and have put on workouts with teammates before training camps despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith isn’t happy with Brady and others who have decided to take things into their own hands before camps:

For now, Burrow might just keep on hosting his small throwing sessions with friends in Athens, Ohio.

At this point, with training camp scheduled to start on time and certain players eligible to arrive at team facilities before even that, Burrow won’t have to wait much longer to link up with his new pro teammates.

Mike Perry likes his odds versus Nate Diaz: ‘I think he’s a skinny, weak little (expletive)’

Mike Perry has some strong words for Nate Diaz.

If you enjoyed his UFC on ESPN 12 win, [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] thinks you’d love a fight between him and [autotag]Nate Diaz[/autotag].

In an interview with ESPN on Tuesday, Perry (14-6 MMA, 7-6 UFC) was asked about a potential matchup against Diaz (20-12 MMA, 18-11 UFC). While Perry said he respects what Diaz has done in the sport, he didn’t seem impressed with the former UFC lightweight title challenger’s skillset.

“I think he’s a skinny, weak, little (expletive), like Mickey Gall,” Perry said. “I respect what he’s done in this sport. He plays the guard game, jiu-jitsu, and (expletive). He thinks he can box with (those) little weak-ass punches that he’s got – little salt and pepper punches. He doesn’t stand a chance to hit me hard enough.”

Analyzing a matchup against Diaz, Perry said he’d emulate a similar gameplan to what Jorge Masvidal implemented at UFC 244 in November. In the first (and to date, only) “BMF” title fight in UFC history, Masvidal defeated Diaz by TKO due to cuts.

“I’d hit him on the feet (the) same way Jorge Masvidal did,” Perry said. “I’d play his guard. I’d get half guard (and) sit on top of him. It’d look exactly the same way the Mickey Gall did, to be honest with you. If you guys liked that fight, then yeah, you’ll probably like the Nate Diaz fight, too because he’s a little more durable. He’ll probably try to stand there and box back with me, but my power punches (are) just – I’d sit him down.”

[lawrence-related id=530423,530268]

Diaz hasn’t competed since UFC 244. Since August 2016, Diaz has been booked three times fights and has only competed twice. Fights against Diaz are hard to come by.

A winner of three of his most recent four, Diaz has remained largely quiet since his loss to Masvidal, occasionally chiming in to talk trash on Twitter.

With his UFC on ESPN 12 victory, Perry snapped a two-fight losing skid. He is 3-3 in his past six fights dating back to July 2018.

Check out Perry’s comments on Nate Diaz in the video clip below (via Instagram):

Beth Lillie returns to competition with a bang, winning Donna Andrews Invitational by six

In her return to competition this week at the Donna Andrews Invitational, Beth Lillie found herself on top.

The lost months of Beth Lillie’s junior season at the University of Virginia were spent back home in Fullerton, California, in front of a net strung between two trees in her back yard. She putted on carpet. Golfers everywhere have known this drill in 2020.

Lillie, however, had a mature mantra: “My game is my game, I’m not going to lose it just because I can’t be out on a golf course.”

Nearly four months have passed since Lillie last teed it up with Virginia at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. In her return to competition this week at the Donna Andrews Invitational, Lillie found herself on top. The mantra proved true.

Scores: Donna Andrews Invitational

East Coast golf has blown Lillie’s mind. Perhaps more accurately, one course in particular. While spending some time with friends in Philadelphia earlier this summer, California native got a chance to tee it up at both Aronimink Golf Club and Pine Valley, an ultra-private golf gem that tops the Golfweek’s Best Classic Courses list.

“Just crazy, out-of-my-mind awesome,” Lillie said.

Asked for more context, Lillie offered this: “Even if you’re having a bad round, you’re having a good day.” But Lillie had a good day, firing 68 there.

Lillie found golf’s hallowed ground to be good prep for the week at Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lillie fired rounds of 73-69-67 to win at 7 under. That was six shots better than runner-up Becca DiNunzio, who will be a sophomore at Virginia Tech.

“I’ve been striking it well for a little bit now and practicing at Pine Valley and other great courses, it makes you want to miss small and I think I did a good job of that at Boonsboro,” Lillie said. “The greens are the teeth of the course for sure.”

For a long time, Lillie was able to base her game on length, knowing she’d have wedges into greens. She’s recently focused more on placement – being accurate with those short irons and wedges in her hand. This week was the first time she’d seen Boonsboro, a classic layout in Central Virginia. She played one practice round the day before the event.

“My first round was kind of like a second practice round,” she said. “I learned a lot about the whole course.”

Lillie didn’t have a single double-bogey in 54 holes at Boonsboro, and ultimately won on the strength of a final-round 67 that included an eagle on the third hole. She drove it through the fairway and into the left rough, hit 3-wood to 12 feet and holed the downhill putt.

DiNunzio had just birdied her first three holes, so Lillie felt she needed to answer.

“I started with two pars and feeling not in the driver’s seat,” Lillie said. Three closing birdies on the back nine, including one at No. 18, greatly helped her cause.

Lillie’s game has gained another dimension as she’s played more golf on the other side of the country from her Southern California home. Often, she has noticed, East Coast courses have a bigger and grander feel, as if the course truly fits into the place carved out for it. Sometimes golf in Southern California, she says, can feel squeezed into a city or onto the side of a hill.

“It gives you a different feeling,” she said of the courses she’s experienced since branching out in the game and making a cross-country move for college golf.

Lillie played her way into the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She missed the cut that week, but it remains and important part of her story.

“I was 16 when I played and was so nervous I couldn’t even think,” she said.

What sticks with her most from that week came from her dad. Have fun, he said. She would play well if she had fun.

“I think that’s something I carry with me every round.”

Texas picks up crystal ball prediction for four-star CB

UT has landed a huge crystal ball prediction. 247Sports has predicted 2021 cornerback Jamier Johnson will commit to the Longhorns on June 3.

Texas has landed a huge crystal ball prediction from Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, as he has predicted 2021 cornerback Jamier Johnson will commit to the Longhorns. He also gave an eight on his confidence rating, proving Johnson could be on his way to Austin.

Johnson is from Pasadena, California, and would be a rare out-of-state- recruit for Tom Herman. 11 of the 13 guys in the 2021 class are from the state of Texas. Three-star wide receiver Casey Cain from Louisiana and Australian punter Isaac Pearson would join Johnson as out-of-state- prospects.

Rated a four-star prospect on the 247Sports composite, Johnson is a top 300 player in the country. He ranks 17th overall at the cornerback position and 24th in the state of California.

Back on June 11, Johnson announced he would be committing on July 3. His top seven schools consist of Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and USC.

If Johnson does pick the Longhorns, he would be the third commit at defensive back in the 2021 class. Ishmael Ibraheem and JD Coffey both pledged to Texas on June 15.

This Mike Evans workout video certainly made Tom Brady happy

The Buccaneers posted a video on Instagram of WR Mike Evans working out, which made quarterback Tom Brady very happy.

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is looking for his seventh-straight 1,000-yard season in 2020, which would make him the only player ever to begin his career with such a streak.

Things will be made easier this year with Tom Brady under center for the Bucs. While the pair have been hitting the field together at a local Tampa prep school, they’ll look to get in even more work together once training camp begins in a few weeks (we hope).

In the meantime, though, Evans has been working out on his own to get himself ready for the season. The Buccaneers recently posted a video on Instagram of Evans working out, and Tampa Bay’s new quarterback left a comment giving his stamp of approval.

Glad to see Brady appreciating the work Evans is putting in. While Evans will have a shot at history this season, it’ll be Brady who will bear the responsibility of getting him the ball.

No pressure.

It seems Tom Brady just can’t quit Julian Edelman

Bucs QB Tom Brady had a hilarious response to Julian Edelman’s Instagram post welcoming Cam Newton to town.

Tom Brady may be the new quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he still has plenty of friends on the New England Patriots, including wide receiver Julian Edelman, who was part of three-Super Bowl winning teams with Brady. Edelman even won Super Bowl MVP following the Patriots’ Super Bowl LIII win over the Los Angeles Rams.

While Brady will have plenty of talented receivers to work with in Tampa, including his former Pats teammate Rob Gronkowski, it’s clear he and Edelman are still great friends, evident by this hilarious comment Brady left on Edelman’s recent Instagram post welcoming quarterback Cam Newton to New England.

Take a look.

Newton famously wore No. 1 with the Carolina Panthers, so he could very well look to keep that same number with the Patriots.

As for Brady, he’ll just have to accept that Edelman has found someone else. Leave the past in the past, Tom!

WATCH: Michigan State LBs review running backs’ Spotify playlist in the Battle of the Aux

It’s the final position group matchup the the Battle of the Aux

The Battle of the Aux rages within the (virtual) walls of Michigan State football.

A few weeks ago (and for a primer on what the hell I’m writing about) the offensive and defensive lines–dubbed “Juice Squad” and “A.W.O.L” (Animals Without a Leash), respectively, battled by putting together Spotify playlists to represent the position groups. Then they reviewed each others’ playlists and fans voted on the winner. The defensive line won that first matchup going away. After that, the QBs “Gunslingers” went up against the TEs “The Arsenal” with the QBs coming out on top. That was followed by the DBs “No Fly Zone” taking on the receivers “Ice Gang.” The defensive backs took home the win in that one.

Our final matchup is the running backs “Chain Gang” against the linebackers “Bomb Squad.”

First up we have the linebackers checking out the songs the running backs put on their playlist.
