Background with Josh Norman

The writing was obviously on the wall here with the Bills-Panthers connections. When McDermott made it to the Super Bowl as the defensive coordinator of the Panthers, Josh Norman was his shutdown corner. Now Norman is back on his roster in Buffalo. But Norman comes with some baggage. He was good in Carolina but toward the end of his Redskins spell, he was bad. In regard to both good and bad, McDermott’s trusting the tape again and it sounds like he expects big times from the defender because of that.

“Here’s what I would tell you about Josh is. He is a highly competitive individual, and sometimes to the grass isn’t always greener from a from a system or scheme standpoint,” McDermott said. “Hopefully to a to a similar culture and in a similar system. The same system really, he’ll be able to regain his form.”

Norman will battle EJ Gaines and Levi Wallace for Buffalo’s No. 2 spot, opposite of Tre’Davious White.
