But perhaps a crutch?

While “find a way” is a thing now, apparently, McDermott did provide Allen with one “crutch” of sorts. But not really just Allen, the passing attack in its entirety and it was some neat insight into coaching and the NFL as well. As McDermott explains, these spring practices the Bills will be missing due to the ongoing pandemic might most harm the passing game. Here’s how McDermott said that:

“If you look at how we shape our offseason we usually spend about 70percent of our offseason…I should say spring, trying to shape our passing game,” McDermott said. “And then in training camp, it flips a little bit, not totally, but it starts to even out a little bit more maybe 60-40, or 50-50, because you do have pads.”
