Report: Titans to exercise Adoree’ Jackson’s 5th-year option

Adoree’ Jackson will remain on the team through 2021.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly going to pick up the fifth-year option of cornerback Adoree’ Jackson.

Under the fifth-year option in 2021, Jackson’s salary will be $10.2 million.

After a few hiccups in the return game early on in the 2019 season, Jackson, who is a former No. 18 overall pick of the Titans from 2017, had a stellar campaign in coverage, which led to him being ranked as the No. 15 corner in the NFL last season, per Pro Football Focus.

Jackson’s importance to the Titans’ secondary was never more apparent than when he missed a handful of games during the regular season. That issue was only made worse by Malcolm Butler’s injury, which landed him on IR.

It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see the Titans try to extend Jackson ahead of the 2020 season. His elite speed and ever-improving coverage skills make him an ideal match for what NFL teams are looking for from their corners.

Jackson was one of two fifth-year option decisions the Titans had to make. The other was with Corey Davis, who reportedly had his option declined by the team on Friday.
